If you’re not allergic to lanolin, I highly recommend Lansinoh HPA Lanolin Nipple Cream - designed for breast feeding people and labelled as safe for babies. It’s very emollient and has staying power and leaves a sheen on lips. It lasts a long time as the tube is 40g/1.41 oz for about $9-13 in Canada & the US. It’s widely available in the baby section here in Canada at drug & grocery stores. It’s made in the US.

Vaseline advanced healing lip treatment and cerave healing ointment for me! Occasionally apply a hydrating serum first. Never have chapped lips anymore. 💋
I would LOVE a review of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Swivel Stick. It claims ultimate moisture for 24 hours. Also the Vaseline Lip Therapy sticks. They come in aloe, cocoa butter, original and also red/cherry one. They look like lipstick. PLEASE try those.

@@zoelee8471 they have unscented ones as well if you don’t like the flavored ones. I have also tried the og Nivea lip balm with SPF 30 (yellow cap) but it leaves a whitecast and dries my lips.
Reqular Aquafor is my fav but I love curology lip balm as well! Unfortunately I don't buy it anymore because it went from $2.99 to like $7.99. 😕 No thanks. Too much for lip balm.
I have the Remedy and I can taste it; it's not bad, but it is there. Doesn't seem to be helping my ever peeling lips and I think the issue is that it is not thick enough to stay put. I find myself reaching for the Laneige sleeping mask simply because it is thick and sticky. My son (who is a doctor btw) has the same issue with peeling lips and he swears by the Jack Black lip balm. Just fyi and take it for what it is worth. I am an outlier. P.S. Enjoy your videos as always. Thank you for doing this.
La-Roche Posay Cicaplast Lips, CeraVe ointment, Aquaphor regular healing ointment are definitely top tier options! I became allergic to peppermint oil after YEARS of using the CO Bigelow minty lip gloss stuff daily.
Agreed! I usually wet my lips with water before applying the ointments so that they can hold onto the water and keep my lips hydrated and moisturized. Applying Aquaphor/vaseline on dry lips still made my lips dry. It only works for me when applied on wet lips.
@@moonbeam-x1j How about Hyaluronic acid, or another moisturizing serum you would applied on your face ? Hyaluronic acid holds on to water, (among other things), and you have to seal it with some ointment or else anyway.
Burts Bees chap stick unfortunately caused a recurring sore on my lips which I had to get burnt off! I'm so glad that you guys are shedding some light on great lip care that'll lessen these issues!
Neutrogena lip gloss with hyaluronic acid absolutely saved me. I was using laniege lip mask (in conjunction with a brown sugar coconut oil lip scrub) for a week for my super chapped lips and it wasnt repairing anything. I put my neutrogena on my super chapped and it HIGHLY pronounced all the dry flakey skin on my lips 😂 but after scrubbing that off with the lip scrub and reapplying, theyve been smooth since!
Thank you for this. Perfect timing as the dry prairie winter begins. It is so easy to get caught up on hype. I had begun using Eucerin ointment on my dry excema prone lips with success but still searching for other options. Time to stop searching. Thanks for helping and keeping it simple!
aloe and shea butter are strong allergens. so many people are allergic (like me) and we are so sick of not being able to find natural products without them in it. aloe gives me chemical burns immediately. shea butter is a slower burn but is because im allergic to latex. other allergens that companies pretend arent: green tea (camellia) and chamomile.
That carmex is my holy grail. Literally the only thing that keeps my lips moisturized, exfoliates, and doesn't burn or tingle. Gotta find what works for you!
@@ifmusicbethefoodofloveplay2290 totally understand if it doesn’t work for you but I will say that the original version is the one that actually works for me and likely the others who have commented. Don’t use the other flavored versions. The formula isn’t the same and they don’t work.
Exactly my thoughts , I once had very veryyyy bad case of chapped lips they started to bleed if I even moved them ever slightly I grabbed a good old Carmex from a gas station and it worked perfectly completely healed in a couple of days better than any high end one’s from Sephora . Am bummed they rejected it
Mary Kay’s Satin Lips Lip balm is so nice and thick and luxurious. It saved me recently when Crest made my lips peel terribly. Far better than Burt’s, Chapstick, etc
I use Vaseline before bed every night. I carry the Burt’s Bees Ultra Conditioning tube in my purse. Wish you had reviewed that Burt’s Bees product, it’s the only one of their lip balms I think actually moisturizes my lips.
Thank you both for your thorough and informative review. Blistex 5 Star is best, summer and winter. SPF 30! And it wears so well. Flavor is negligible. Price point seals the deal. Vaseline is great overnight, but not out and about.
Have you ever tried O'keefe's Lip Repair? It's the only thing that works for me as a protectant and moisturizer for my lips. It's a bit waxy, so it stays on longer. But it also adds moisture, which other waxy balms don't do for me. Id love to hear your take on this product.
Finally discovered this about 1 ½ years ago realising I might have a castor oil sensitivity & thank goodness! The scrub is great when I want to wear lipsticks & rids me of the peeling used after (I use a layer of the balm before applying lipsticks). I buy a few at a time as I so love my red lipstick😉! Great that it has sunscreen as well😊. Cheers! Jet 😘🧡
I tried it a couple of years ago. The version in the jar. I didn't like the smell. It was like vanilla play-doh. I think it was moisturizing and effective though. It prevented my lips from cracking in the corners.
@@jyn88 - interesting, the only one in a little jar I’ve come across in shops is the scrub & it has no scent. 🤷🏼♀️I prefer the stick balm anyway so no biggie, but I’m glad it helped your lips! J. 😘🧡
@@RnR-Rebel I bought mine on Amazon. It's called "O'Keeffe's Lip Repair Night Treatment Lip Balm". I went through a short period of liking jars but now I want to go back to sticks. I never liked squeeze tubes but after trying Persona DayMask Peptide Lip Balm it made me open to trying more.
@@jyn88 - I see, that’s actually the scrub! In the morning all the peeling is gone leaving your lips so soft & hydrated. Maybe try the tube balm? I was using Laneige tubes & their overnight treatment for a few years & it made my lips worse even tho they’d start off feeling great. So I’m not a fan of tubes either, always seem to squeeze out too much for my thin lips😂!
surprised you guys didnt say dr dans cortibalm.. my dermatologist recommended this to me its specifically made for accutane patients, best one i ever used!
I have EVERY lip product out there and nothing can stop my lips from peeling. Recently, Vaseline has been my go to product, but I still have extremely lip, mostly my bottom lip. I recently purchased Maree sleeping mask. I have had 2 squamous cell cancers removed on my legs and my dermatologist prescribed Fluorouracil for my nose because of many actinic sores. It worked perfectly clearing it up. I have peeling lips for years, could this be a pre-cancer too. My next Derm appointment was scheduled for February, but my doctor left the practice, so I’m off to find the rarest type of doctor in the world. I’m going to give Remedy a try. Hopefully, that will be my golden ticket. I am diligent about sun screen since the squamous cell was found 2 years ago. Love your videos.
You guys really cracked me up with the white cast on your lips 😂 I really needed a good laugh cause tomorrow I’m having major surgery and I’ve been so stressed. Thanks!
Thanks for reviewing lip products. I was disappointed when you did not include O’Keefe’s SPF 35. I used Vaseline during cold college winters but have stopped because it doesn’t have sunscreen. I returned to Florida 20 years ago so I rank sunscreen above everything else but still say no to the heavy casts and stay away from common allergens including beeswax. Thanks again.
I’m a 62 year old woman and I’ve used Vaseline on my lips for years when I sleep - love it! During the day, when not wearing lipstick, I use Blistex lip vibrance lip balm. I love the touch of color and it has titanium oxide in it which I believe is a sunblock. Works for me!
You are all truly amazing. We need this education because there is so much information from people trying to take our money. Remedy is fantastic! Thank you!
Love this ranking system! Now do Sephora 😂! My personal faves are Clinique’s moisture surge and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter stick. Still looking for a good one with SPF since I now have sun spots on my lips.
Can you guys please do a review of Raya skin care products!? Their AHA BHA face wash is the only thing that has helped keep my skin clear. They’re seriously underrated.
Blistex original medicated cream, white metal tube with a red cap. It's the only one that works for me. Good for cold sores. Can also be used around the nostrils when you have a cold.
I just use whatever lotion I have on hand, which is usually Eucerin's 5% urea "Complete Repair". Does a much better job at keeping lips from drying out than waxy "lip balms" I've used. If it works on dry hands, it'll work on lips. The singular downside of urea lotions is that it does in fact help thicken skin, which is mostly good, but has the side affect of also strengthening those thin strip of peeling skin that form near above cuticles. Don't try to pull them off or you'll regret it 😂. Use good nailclippers (victorinox) to snip them off instead.
It may not be available at Target, but Panama Jack offers an SPF 45 flavorless sunscreen lip balm! The ingredients are Avobenzone (3.0%), Homosalate (3.0%), Octinoxate (7.5%), Octisalate (5.0%), Petrolatum (40.0%), Ozokerite, Mineral Oil, C12-15 Alkyl Benzoate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phenyl Trimethicone, and Tocopherol.
I waited all the way to end to find out but you hit on my solution. I have used trial and a LOT of error for 30 years and finally hit on my all time solution. Plain old Aquaphor. I bought a bunch of little travel containers and filled them up with plain old Aquphor and they are all over my house, in my purse, and my travel kit. Winner! Winner!
I use Blistex Simple and Sensitive lip balm. No dyes, scents, or flavors, but it does feel like it rubs off easy. Also no SPF. My other go to is Chapstick (the blue tube.) Again, no dyes, scents, or flavor, but it has an SPF of 15 which is the highest SPF I have been able to tolerate on my lips. Thx for this video docs, much appreciated.
I’ve tried some of these. My fave now is Sun Bum in banana. They have watermelon, mango, and coconut. My lips feel like they stay hydrated for a long time. I see they’ve reviewed this one. I’m usually a lip licker but I have not done it with Sun Bum, despite its flavors. I’ve found this in Walmart and Target.
What? Not reviewing the O'Keefe's lip repair? How have none of the derms I follow talked about this product. It's amazingly protective with a smoothing and creamy feel on the lips- I think it's the dimethicone and petrolatum doing the heavy lifting here. Comes in flavored, unscented, and SPF. It really saved my lips during the long Minnesota winter with dry, furnace-cooked air. Worked better than Aquaphor's lip balm.
I think I'll get Remedy lip balm when it goes on sale this holiday season. You're right, Dr. Shah I saw complaints on it being smelly or taste bad. That's why I hesitated on buying it lol. I think it's worth it to try and put my curiosity to rest. I need the best of the best for my lips.
Thank you so much for calling out allergens. I’m allergic to beeswax and it’s so difficult to find a lip balm that i can use. I’ll give your recommendations a try.
The lip balms from the brand Jack Blck are the best most moistruing products ( with SPF!!) that has actually worked for my lips. the Lemon one smells amazing. Please do a ULTA beauty lip balm review!!
OK, I have to share a recent find on Amazon. I got a Chapstick that only has five ingredients and primary ingredient is beef tallow. It’s natural and works really well to moisturize my lips. It’s by a company called Dr. Dave.
This is flashing me back to 2008, when I realized I had such chapped lips and became addicted to chapstick... Softlips vanilla, the EOS eggs, Nivia, obsessed. These days it's vaseline (with cocoa butter in the big tub), Aquaphor or La Roche Posay lip repair. Everything else is a treat!
The Weleda Skin Food lip balm is my favourite on the go. It features sunflower oil as the top ingredient and then beeswax and lanolin and no peppermint or camphor. Tried hundreds over the years. At home I’ll use straight Vaseline out of the tub.
As someone who can't use fragrance or flavor in a lip product, Thank You! My quest continues for a lip balm sunscreen, that doesn't Taste & smell like sunscreen but also doesn't include flavor or fragrance.
Vaseline lip therapy every night. It's the only thing that doesn't make my lips peel off in sheets after a couple days. I have a lot of skin sensitivities. The lip therapy is different than the big tubs, even though they're both pure petrolatum, the lip therapy is a denser petrolatum, and the big tub melts in faster and is more penetrating than coating. There is a pink lip therapy, and that one makes my lips peel, too.
Thank you for this video. I live in a very dry climate and my lips are always so chapped in the winter. Another product I would be interested to hear your point of view is Laneige lip sleeping mask. This stuff is viral and every influencer pushes it
I like Burt’s Bees in Red Dahlia. It gives my lips a bit of warmth without the peppermint oil. It does have lanolin. I am not sensitive to that particular ingredient.
hi there, this is very helpful. The discussion on Aquaphor made me wonder about the Aquaphor baby ointment and what the difference is between the two ointments? Infact this applies to all the big brand that have a baby line (Aquaphor, Cerave, Aveeno, Cetaphil) - what is the true difference is between these/is there much to really buy the baby version versus the other?. Perhaps a topic you would consider talking about at some point.
I’m a lip balm junkie. Chapstick medicated has always been my go to because I’m prone to cold sores and it helps keep them under control. But I do have to use something else on top for moisture. Thank you for the ingredient list. That helped. I use a generic version of Aquafor on my hands with gloves at night during the winter. I’ll try it on my lips too.
thank you so much i just found out that i was diabetic 2 years ago my lips stayed chapped and tried just about everything but I'm sure going to try the Vaseline Original Healing Jelly thank you so much for the help.
I’m 61 & the two that work for me are, The Naked Bee Orange Blossom and Honey Lip Balm, which is a stick balm I buy from Ace Hardware for $6, but they also have their own website. The second is Neutrogena Lip Sleeping Mask in a tube I buy from Walmart for about $7. Especially at night before bed.
Is that the one in a squeeze tube? I tried LRP in the retractable stick format and I didn't like it. It was too lightweight and slippery for me. Is the LRP Cica thick, occlusive and sticky? I like some stickiness so it lasts longer. As long it's not super sticky.
@@jyn88yes, in the squeeze tube 😊 I didn’t know about the stick one. This one is thick and occlusive, but also immediately provides relief, melts into your lips and sticks around with a nice layer instead of just disappearing.
I’ve tried a tonne of drugstore lip products here in the UK, including aquaphor, Vaseline, and for some reason the only one I find helps is burts bees! I think it’s the waxy element so maybe I’ll research other waxy lip balms. Will have to try Remedy when I next order Pore Size! ❤
Making+Goetz unscented is supreme, actually moisturises without just creating an annoying barrier. No lanolin smell. Actually softens dry skin, is instantly relieving. I love it more than all my fancy ones.
Really enjoyed your lip products video 🙂 I found Aquaphor in the squeeze tube to be too slippy and needed multiple reapplications. My favorite has been Vaseline lip therapy, but my grocery here in the north woods stopped carrying it. Regular Vaseline does not stay on. Looking forward to trying Remedy products 🕊✌️
I don't have dry lips. I use lip pencils and lipsticks during the day, when I wear those I don't lick my lips and they create a bit of protective barrier. Only use lip balm before sleep - I prefer petroleum based ones like vaseline. I don't find the need to apply anything in the day
I love your Remedy for Lips. But, prior to it, I used Lansinoh (nipple cream for nursing mothers) and LOVED it! Yes, it is lanolin, but I don't have an allergy to it. I use your Remedy during the day, but, before bed, I still use the Lansinoh & it lasts all night!
thank you for doing this! i love treating myself to a lip treatment 🥰 would you guys do this in the future for sephora brands? ( laniege, summer fridays, topicals, etc)
I love the fact that the Remedy lip balm is fragrance free! Please don't ever change it. I'm allergic to fragrance/flavor/aroma and it is SO HARD to find lip products for myself.
As a lip balm addict I loved this video thank you! The only ones I wish you would have added are Smith’s Rosebud Salve and the CO Bigelow version. But I guess you’d say boo because fragrance…
Burt's Bees original chapstick is one I 've used for decades. Carmex in a tub is great for lips or around your nose if it's sore from blowing when you have a cold.
HEAR ME OUT!!! i’ve probably gone through like 7 tubes of the tree hut lip balm/gloss, it’s by far the best gloss i’ve ever used and has actively healed my lips when they were chapped. i’m a lip balm snob and have tried so many over the years, and it’s just the best. even aquaphor can’t match up to it for me
I use the nivea lip balms. They also have an SPF version as well. I have very dry skin and prefer the lotion feel on my lips. I also use a lip mask from the dollar tree that has blown my mind.its their BPure line. It's call hydrating night lip mask, it is absolutely living up to its name! Also vanicream has a product that's called healing ointment and it is really good if you have really dry skin patches or lips.
LRP lip cicaplast is great. Should be in Target. And the Vaseline comes in a little squeeze tube with lip tip also, it is great also. My 2 faves! Want to try the Remedy lip product, but cant justify the cost with shipping.
I wanted to love LRP lip cicaplast but the taste bothered me. I know it’s unflavored and unscented I couldn’t get away from the taste. I don’t think I loved the texture either.
@ I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Remedy has had some knock offs, Dr. Shah hasn’t endorsed that his products are available on Amazon. He has warned that there have been fake products out there though. Buyer beware.
What are your thoughts about the Vaseline All Over Body Balm stick? Its ingredients are petroleum, ethyhexl palmitate, paraffin, ozokerite, cetearyl alcohol, tocopheryl acetate, yellow 5 lake. I’ve been using this on my lips regularly because it’s less messy to apply

Just fyi and take it for what it is worth. I am an outlier. P.S. Enjoy your videos as always. Thank you for doing this.
Try CeraVe Healing Ointment. Highly recommend.
The Jack Black lip balms felt really nice, but I can taste them and they really irritated my lips with repeated use. Proceed with caution!
Me too!!
What the heck?! That’s crazy. I love their pomegranate one but I haven’t bought it in awhile and read they changed their formula. 😒🤦🏻♀️
Vaseline comes also in a squeeze tube 5 ⭐️
😂
True, and now in stick also and a color pink version. Hope they do a spf 50 version!
Ooh an spf 50 version would be fab in the tube or stick
So does aguapour💕
Lanolin is not the wool's oil?
Thank you for your review!!!! This helped me realize why I haven’t found what works for me.
Thank you for this. Perfect timing as the dry prairie winter begins. It is so easy to get caught up on hype. I had begun using Eucerin ointment on my dry excema prone lips with success but still searching for other options. Time to stop searching. Thanks for helping and keeping it simple!
aloe and shea butter are strong allergens. so many people are allergic (like me) and we are so sick of not being able to find natural products without them in it. aloe gives me chemical burns immediately. shea butter is a slower burn but is because im allergic to latex. other allergens that companies pretend arent: green tea (camellia) and chamomile.
same here as well as jojoba , cucumber in so many cosmetics and cosmetics.
The Neutrogena Lip Sleeping Mask is the best lip product I’ve ever used. During the day, it’s a nice gloss.
I use Cerave healing ointment on my lips every night and it’s been working out great! 👍🏻
This is my favorite as well.
I’ve used this for years too. Simply the best.
That carmex is my holy grail. Literally the only thing that keeps my lips moisturized, exfoliates, and doesn't burn or tingle. Gotta find what works for you!
Carmex is wonderful. They are crazy to reject it. When my lip is sore, it heals fast with carmex like no other can do it
@@SusuToTheBone Carmex tears up my lips like no other. It burns and stings so bad.
I cannot sleep if I don't have my Carmex (the squeezie, more liquidy one) slathered on my lips! Love it!
Make a video about lip oils and glosses!
Fyi, all of O'Keefe's lip balms have beeswax. I use this brand too.
❤ this is great!! Especially before the winter time 🙌 thank you 😊
I didn't see O'Keeffee's lip repair. I just discovered this and it is wonderful, the best I've used!
I was hoping they would review that one too!
I agree. I use O’Keeffee’s and love it. Both the unscented and scented. Ingredients: Beeswax/ Cera Alba, Dimethicone, Petrolatum, Hydrogenated Poly (C6-14) Olefin, Phenyl Trimethicone, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter), Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid/Glycerin Crosspolymer, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polysilicone-11, Sodium Saccharin, Ethylene/Propylene/Styrene Copolymer, Butylene/Ethylene/Styrene Copolymer, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate.
It's my favorite! The SPF one is my go-to daily lip balm.
It did nothing for me
You are all truly amazing.
@@F2SLJ I'm loving O'Keefe Lip Repair SPF 35! Very moisturizing and it doesn't make my sensitive lips peel! For me, it's a winner!
Clinique makes a Moisture Surge with broad spectrum SPF 28 now.
@@leecl2244 oh yes, i’ve forgotten about that one! I’ll have to get it again. If I had the same one, I liked the pepperminty feeling on it!
I second Cliniques moisture surge lip balm. I used to work for Clinique.
Oh my God ! I love the Clinique ones, all 3 of them ! 😭😭😭
I'm also looking for a good SPF lip product.
Dr Bronner’s is the best! And it comes in unscented, with no mint. I’m shocked you didn’t rate it higher.
Winner! Winner!
Love Aquaphor! I just tried it yesterday and I am in love with it
One of my favs for lips is CereVe's Healing Ointment in the blue tube or jar. LOVE that stuff for lips.
Trader Joe’s Lip Virtuoso is my fav. Olive oil, beeswax, jojoba, shea butter plus SPF Stays on all night. The best
I just ordered this and really like it - but it disappears pretty fast on me.
This stuff is viral and every influencer pushes it
Apply Vaseline or like products scooping it with your nail, like a shovel, the product is on top of your nail instead of under it.
I’ve tried lots and my favorite is the WELEDA Evereron Lip Balm. 💋
I like Burt’s Bees in Red Dahlia. It gives my lips a bit of warmth without the peppermint oil. It does have lanolin. I am not sensitive to that particular ingredient.
Yikes! I have never heard of skin cancer on the lips! My family has a history of skin cancer! Thanks for the video!
hi there, this is very helpful.
Great video. Would you talk about what sunscreens can be used on the lips?
I’m 61 & the two that work for me are, The Naked Bee Orange Blossom and Honey Lip Balm, which is a stick balm I buy from Ace Hardware for $6, but they also have their own website. The second is Neutrogena Lip Sleeping Mask in a tube I buy from Walmart for about $7. Especially at night before bed.
I don’t even try new lip balms, aquaphor is always my number one
Nothing aquaphor can't fix.
My favourite is LRP Cicaplast lip balm. It is incredible and I’m sure I’d love Remedy as well.
I live in Spain and I use ISDN lip product with SPF 50 during the day, and for the night pure petrolatum jelly.
the Vaseline one is my holy grail! it's the only lip balm I will use!
thank you for doing this! i love treating myself to a lip treatment 🥰 would you guys do this in the future for sephora brands?
I've been using the Burt's bees original chapstick for over 20 years! I love it! It doesn't make me feel like I need to lick my lips ever.
Lucky you !
Maybe it’s an age thing because I can’t use in my latter age. Vaseline when I go to bed.
remedy is 100% the absolute best lip repair I've ever used!
Thank you for this. I have very chapped lips these day and I needed this vid
Remedy is on Amazon with free shipping if you have Prime!
@ I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Remedy has had some knock offs, Dr. Shah hasn’t endorsed that his products are available on Amazon. He has warned that there have been fake products out there though. Buyer beware.
I LOVE the Vaseline Rosy Lips and I swear by it. Use it everyday! I do have to use a lip brush for the very reason mentioned by the doctor.
How about Cereve Healing Ointment guys?
What are your thoughts about the Vaseline All Over Body Balm stick? Its ingredients are petroleum, ethyhexl palmitate, paraffin, ozokerite, cetearyl alcohol, tocopheryl acetate, yellow 5 lake. I’ve been using this on my lips regularly because it’s less messy to apply
Soothing touch Lip balm is the best stick I’ve ever tried. Perfect
