Does this only work on old scooters or new scooters too?
The key switch has a plug. If you unplug the switch it will kick start too. That save you from cutting the wires. Just unplug the switch,
Makes it easier the next day to fix.
if the ignition is broken and no longer functions does it matter? my ignition completely broke somehow and i watched this vid and cut the wires. now I'm wishing i would have just unplugged it but since the ignition is garbage it doesn't matter?

INSTEAD of cutting the wires just unplug the key lock connectors.
Vern Stires see I had a similar issue a while back I crashed my bike and the key broke so I thought that if I just unplug the key lock thing and just turn on the kill switch and kickstart it would work but that wasn’t the case and I had to cut the wires

But then the taillights and brake lights . Blinkers and speedometer lights don't work.

U dont need to cut any wires or tie any wires u just have to un clip the ignition wires then jump start

Mopeds should work if you remove the ignition plug.

You can just disconnect the ignition wires is a plug and kick start it
Problem is the gas cap is locked with the key.... so even if it works for a while you’re gonna run out of gas and not be able to open it.....

U don't have to do that if it's a round key start thang u just get a flat screaw drive an line it up with key start thang ok an push in on key thang an hold until light come on an hit break an start button an do same to shut it off just use a flat screaw drive an yes u will have head lights an turn lights I do on mine I have all that works I just use a flat screaw drive on mine. all ya had to do was disconnect...not cut the wires. But hey, when you order a new ignition assembly just disconnect the old wires you cut and plug in the new ignition

I purchased a stolen recovered Chinese scooter from a salvage company on eBay no keys. There are only two wires coming out of the ignition barrel so I got wired the two wires of the main harness and I have lights horn even starter motor but no spark from the plug my question is do I have to have a working ignition barrel with key etc or is it something else?

First don't attempt if it has an immobiliser ,it'll effect ignition or efi system and be v expensive, don't cross anything as you'll just fry things,go online and look up your model bike and note ignition switch position links ,so ignition on would have links between wires ,DON'T CUT ANYTHING, disconnect the block and put wire links in . Better to remove the lock as if steering lock comes on then you ain't going to snap it before you hit something ,if it's the difference of waiting on a key as to replace the ignition lock then and urgently required then remove the lock , only thing you do is screw new one on and connect the wiring block as you've cut nothing
if u dont have killswitch and u want to shut it down just get something to close the exhaust end

Yes you can replace the ignition and get a new key. I had another key, I just had to get home, put the wires back together and you're good. Some people say there's a connection to unplug ,but that's not always accessable so quickly.

If you have a genuine Buddy scooter with kick start just simply unplug the plug in the back and kick start it problem solved until you get a key 🔑 Made

Take the front panel off and put your finger behind the ignition and press the little button

Yes it does. If it turns on ur lights and indicators ur e start will work also . Wires must be wired up whilst driving. Take the wires off to turn off

If the kick start don't work when you unplugged the ignition plug than touch the top of the starter solenoid (2 nuts 1 goes to battery the other to starter) with a screwdriver or any metal and should turn over

Just had my moped stolen it has a feature where if you have the stand down it will not start
(Moped thieves do not know this)
Find my bike in a car park with the front taken off, wires are cut steering lock broken side stand down center stand not down
2 problems here
1 the bike will NOT start with the side stand down (safety feature so you don’t ride off with it down)
2 you can not use the kick starter without the bike on its centre stand or else it will be blocked by the centre stand, so they couldn’t even kick it over
Fixing my bike tomorrow gonna solder my ignition back together just so I can ride and buy a new ignition system so I can have a steering lock lock
Exact Same thing happened to me have to buy a new bike they couldn’t start it so they smashed it and left it in the road
