    Beautiful Job! Half the fun of owning a boat is fixing it up and the satisfaction it gives you. Who cannot look at a beautiful boat on the water and not feel peaceful......

    Just pick up a 1984 fixed keel. We plan on trailering our Catalina 25 to Florida to the Fla Loop. Like the pop up tent, we are debating if we are going make one or order one.

    That's a cool video and great tour of your boat. I'm looking at and thinking about trying to buy a 1978 Catalina that's been for sale for $4500 at a local marina in Texas since 2016. I've been thinking and dreaming about her since I first saw the for sale sign on her bow. The boat has an outboard motor, Sunbrella canvas, sails are newer, some work has been done and she's ready to sail.

    Brian, great job on a beautiful boat! Hows the head room on the 25 with pop top openend and closed? Im looking at Catalinas. Was thinking i needed 27-30. However i see many of these 25 footers out there for sale. I may just get away with the 25 footer? Your boat is absolutely beautiful and so organized. Cheers to that, anr happy sailing!

      I'm 6'1" and can stand up just fine with the pop-top up. I believe it's around 6'4" tall. I have an 89 with the lowered floor, so I believe headroom with the top down is around 5'8". No matter what, I'm crouching everywhere with the top down. The cabin is very roomy for me except for the headroom. If you're a short guy, then this is the perfect boat. Both beds are long enough for me.

    I like the wood floor in the cockpit. I would like to add that to my Catalina 25. Can you give anymore detail about how you built the wood floor?

    • @baisley22
      @baisley22  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I built it from scratch without plans. I used white oak, ripped the boards down to the thins strips, planed them, routered them, and sanded.

    How rough of seas have you sailed in? Or is your focus more live aboard. When I lived in cali and sailed a fixed keel 25, we would go say 100 to 200 off shore. Had some nasty seas, but prior owner ran controls to cockpit, so we never lost anybody. That said, it's not a "dry" boat in my opinion. Stay safe.

    • @baisley22
      @baisley22  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      We sail very regularly. I've been out in 20 knot winds and 4 to 5ft rollers. I try my best not to be out and stuff that's too nasty

  • @lawneymalbrough4309

Stuff like battery capacity, solar panels, typical power needs or usage, and any of that? I always find that stuff interesting. Thanks!

    • @baisley22
      @baisley22  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, electrical is not my cup of tea. I wouldn't be able to explain it well. My father did all the electrical work. I have 100W of solar from 2, 50w semi soft panels, mounted on the bimini. And I have 2 deep cycle batteries that power everything. I also do get some charging from my outboard. I can power all my lights, stereo, autopilot and chargers all day.

      She sails pretty well. It's not a race boat by any means. But it is not too hard to cruise around at 5kts. It sails nicely balanced as well. One of the reasons I chose a Cat 25 was based on the size of the interior.
