I'm with you brother. I'm planning on a liveaboard lifestyle within the next year. I'm in the process of minimizing all my belongings..Not much more to go for. I live in a small studio in NY. I need a different pace of life. This is actually a dream come true!
@@waltervega8730 Congrats brother! Initially, it will be fun. You'll realize how 'Freeing' it is with out all the "Stuff". Its a life like no other! However, its when the realities of liveaboard life start to anoy you is when you'll find out if this life is for you. A few issues we've all had is ; boat repairs, Water procurement, waste disposal, transfering food/goods to the boat (if you are on 'the hook'), and simply adjusting to a much smaller living environment. I've lived alone and with a woman aboard. I can say it's much easyier when you are alone seeing that neither of you kinda have your own 'space'. This can be a bit challenging at times but if the two of you can adjust, you'll do just fine. By yourself is easier, but does get a tad lonely. I solved this by having beer or wine at a bar close by.

Thanks for showing us through your C25. I have the same boat here in Australia , same year as yours but mine has the dinette configuration. I believe mine was shipped out here to make the mould so they could build them here. They called them Boomeroo 25 here. Regards, Nick.
In order to curb your leaks until you can seal them, I suggest to buy a cheap boom tent in order to deviate the rain water away from the cockpitt. Soon you may want a bimini to make sailing more comfortable in summer days as well as to stay docked and have nice meals on board with friends. An automatic bilge pump is mandatory and it has to be checked regularly. In my opinion, this is not a device where one can make savings: it should be as reliable as possible, along the time. Try to find a compromise between money and endurance, some one can give you good advice on the best brand and model for a Catalina 25. In preparation of a safe and relaxed sailing (once quarentine is over), I suggest to see on youtube the enhancements made on a Catalina 22: "Sailing Knot Enough. Catalina 22 Sailboat. All Lines Led to Aft. Jib Downhaul." Also on this, try to get quality. Winches and lines too.
For your question about the shoes it's bc Walmart. When a store first opens up it will make the prices super low and take millions in losses just to run other local stores out of business then they raise the price up
That's not why.. well technically. Economies of scale.. It is an efficient design (and cheap) of hundreds of thousands of those shoes made from cheap labor, stitched in one swoop (probably less than 30 seconds), all shipped in one go at a enormous discount. But I do agree that monopolies like these big box stores do run out mom & pop biz out.
The answer to the mystery question is Slave Labor. I like the video though. I’m looking at the same boat as a possible purchase . I need sleeping for two though.
In regard to your leak, try to check your portlights or windows, whose gaskets are getting dry and cracky after the years. There is a narrow space between the internal and external layers of your upperdeck, where the leaking water may enter and run back to the aft side coming out on your berth area. Yes, very much agree. I like Si's 'no bullshit' delivery and gentle friendliness. They are nice qualities which easily come across, and help considerably when one is learning (like I am) the very basics. I'm hoping it isn't too difficult to learn the basics and am advised to take a sailing course at my local marina. I normally don't like courses and group instruction due to being very shy, so would like to learn alone. I don't suppose that is a good option though! Ultimately I want to cross the Atlantic to the Caribbean on the trade route (like a few TH-cam bloggers have done, including Canadian Alan Mulholland on 'Wave Rover', and similarly back home after a year there. I'm getting on a bit so am searching earnestly for my first boat, something like a Contessa 31 or Cutlass 27. I enjoy Si's channel a lot as he isn't over the top or loud-mouthed, and also am very fond of TH-cam's 'Adventures Of An Old Sea Dog' as he (Barry) comes from along the coast a little way from me and is about the same age, though with vast maritime experience. There are quite a few enjoyable American and Australian singles and couples sailing around and making blogs, and I'm really hoping that Si Pitak can help us out with a little sailing tutorial or two, and maybe some good comments sections. Thanks for sharing. Myself I am planning on selling my house next year and doing the exact same thing. So I am still doing some research in the meantime. So far I have several boats that I am watching. The sailboats that I am watching are 1000 +/- miles away from me. So far my biggest thing is finding a live aboard marina that isn't outrageous on prices. So if you don't mind where is the marina that you have chosen.
A developer bought the marina & will upgrade it next year which means the prices will go up :(. If you are living 100% in your boat I would suggest something like Catalina 35, one that has a proper galley & head. You can go with less but it would be easier if your live aboard boat is fully equip.
Out of curiosity, I have a question I have is, is this 25´with a shower?. I think, that in order to live on board, one is needed. Otherwise, I think maybe the marina has a shower facility that people can use. Am I right?.
No it does not have a shower. I think this boat is intended for day or weekend cruising. Most marinas have a shower/bathroom facilities but mine does not. In the summer I shower in the cockpit area as I am the only ones on the dock. If not, fortunate for me, I use the shower at my workplace or at the gym.

I have a 1983 Pacific 27 which I've taken through rivers and offshore. What motor does the Catalina have? I cant imagine it has an inboard with those crates in the middle so I'm guessing its an outboard?
I have a 6 HP outboard on mine. I had a 9.9 which died. But unless going against a strong current the 6 HP -- with a special high thrust prop---works just fine.

Unfortunately the marina is taken over by a big developer and is closing it for renovations. Rumor has it that a new upper scale yacht club is planned to replace it.
I am 5'5". In the main salon, I have about 1 -2 inches of head room so I can still stand up straight.If the weather is fair, you can pop the roof of the main salon up and give you another 6-8 inches. In the head & v berth area, I have to duck a little bit.
The marina that I am at is closing at the end of May for renovations. Rumour has it that it is going to be a posh place. Pretty sure the the slip fee are going up and they may not liveaboard anymore.

Man seems to want to build incredibly large homes compared with what we need. A single occupant really needs a washroom/loo, a kitchenette, a sitting/eating area and a bed. In England we have very small caravans ('trailers' in American English) around 10' to 16' long, like the American Boler, and having lived in caravans - a 12 footer for a year and then a 23' gypsy stainless steel Roma - for a few years I can say that heating is remarkably cheap, maintenance is minimal and the ease of cleaning and running this sort of accommodation gives you immense spare time to enjoy your hobbies and pastimes. As mankind seeks to take more and more space away from wildlife and nature to build our homes we will eventually HAVE to reduce our expectations with regard to home size. Imagine a home that you can take, free of cost, through many capital cities of the world, across any sea and along many waterways? Smallish craft are the way forward in my estimation, especially for singles, couples and very small families, particularly if the breadwinner/s can earn their living online.
I agree 100%. I used to live in an area where it was considered "Slum neighborhood" where I grew up. No electricity & no running water. Very very small 1 bedroom place for a family of six. So I am used to it.
I quit having bananas in the boat in the summer because they seem to ripen a matter of a couple of days...and go bad quickly before I can eat them all.

The only problem I have is cooking and doing dishes. Not to mention lack of proper head for shower. Luckily, I can do all my cooking and take a shower at my workplace. Because of that, it works out great for me.

The thing at the back is just called a tiller, the part that you hold with your hands. The rudder is the part that goes into the water.

This is a gel coat hull, you don’t paint it, you wax it with car wax.

EVERY boat is a liveaboard. Just depends on how you want to live aboard dumbass. Some of us prefer less as to more. I lived on 22' Pearson for 3 years and loved every second. It all comes down to what you think you need in life. If you think you need tons of stuff, being a liveaboard is not the life for you... unless you have crap tons of money to buy a 42' or larger boat. Great Vid my man! keep em coming!
