      @baisley22 I'm willing to get a 22 I'm new to sailing, plan on taking lessons in November where I live and learning. A 25' however seems like the perfect size for a big guy like me if I'm going to get a boat a keep it a while before I get the fever for a bigger one. I really prefer it. Thanks.

    Brian, great job on a beautiful boat! Hows the head room on the 25 with pop top openend and closed? Im looking at Catalinas. Was thinking i needed 27-30. However i see many of these 25 footers out there for sale. I may just get away with the 25 footer? Your boat is absolutely beautiful and so organized. Cheers to that, anr happy sailing!

      I'm 6'1" and can stand up just fine with the pop-top up. I believe it's around 6'4" tall. I have an 89 with the lowered floor, so I believe headroom with the top down is around 5'8". No matter what, I'm crouching everywhere with the top down. The cabin is very roomy for me except for the headroom. If you're a short guy, then this is the perfect boat. Both beds are long enough for me.

    We just purchased a standard rig C-25 and will have to drop the rig shortly to install a new headstay and roller furling unit. But, we'll have to do this in the boat's slip necessitating side standoffs to the rail to prevent athwartship swaying of the mast whilst raising. This idea helps! So you used the jib halyard with the mainsheet system as block & tackle on the foredeck to raise? Also, it looks like you have a topping lift for the boom?

      Sorry, electrical is not my cup of tea. I wouldn't be able to explain it well. My father did all the electrical work. I have 100W of solar from 2, 50w semi soft panels, mounted on the bimini. what is the depth of the canal? any near grounding? what is your draft? you ever feel like more horse power would have been a good idea? i am thinking of a shoal keeled boat w/centerboard vs swing keel w/ 15 -25 hp outboard .....wdyt?

    • @baisley22
      @baisley22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The canal is maintained at 12 ft deep, what places can and do silt in occasionally between dredgings. I have a swing keel boat so I was only drafting about two and a half feet. So I never had to worry about groundings. My 10 horsepower outboard pushes my boat to Hull speed easily, more horsepower wouldn't have done me any benefits.

    How rough of seas have you sailed in? Or is your focus more live aboard. When I lived in cali and sailed a fixed keel 25, we would go say 100 to 200 off shore. Had some nasty seas, but prior owner ran controls to cockpit, so we never lost anybody. That said, it's not a "dry" boat in my opinion. Stay safe.
