Some people have tried very low doses of NAC and if there were no reactions they increased it to an average dose. This should be done under supervision of a physician!
Well explained, thank you! Is it better to take the precursor NAC to increase glutithione or get glutithione directly? I've heard it's better for the body to take the precursors. I have been taking 25mg of niacinamide 2-3 times a day to increase NAD. Do you think this is a good strategy?
Good explanation of these substances and precursors. However I don’t think we should encourage “whole grains” as they go hand and hand with ultrprocessed foods, breads and pastas which spike insulin! We have an obesity epidemic in this country from way too much carbohydrates in the SAD diet.
all of these molecules NAD, NMN, glutathione, and Resveratrol gave me a stomach pain even with probiotics, what is the solution for this problem? what could someone do with the gastritis issue? Thank you
False Information! None of these supplements should cause any issues. If you are experiencing gastritis that should be worked up. I suggest a search to see what may be causing that in you. Search for medication causes of gastritis. However, if you experience abdominal pain when taking supplements you should take enough food with them to take that sensation away.
Thank you for the very interesting discussion. The question I have is " does larger dosages of NAC/NAD do damage to organs or other parts of the body and if so what are the maximum dosages". I'm not referring to things like upset stomach/ loose movements ect as these can be adapted quickly. Cheers John
Large doses of anything, including water, can damage physiology. The question is why would one want to take large doses of anything. This is something we learn in medical school: "Start low, increase slow." It is important to start at lower doses and slowly increase to adjust the dose in each person.
Namaste Sir, Thank you for an insightful video however I got confused as to why is there glutathione among the ingredients in oral supplements if it is not beneficial orally?
At this point the best method of delivery of Glutathione (high dose) is IV. However, oral forms of Glutathione are available as well in capsule forms for a daily use or for those who do not want to get IVs.
@Body of Harmony Dr. Hakimi-- thank you very much for your videos. Can you tell me how important a role NAD may have in post viral syndrome and recovery? Also what other IV therapy as cofactors may important to pair with NAD in this case? Recently during my research I read a opinion from a medical professional that they did not like infusion NAD because it was a large molecule and there were questions about is use in the IV form-- not sure what that means. Why is NAD IV so expensive? Thank you.
Let me start by saying: medicine and health are not as black and white as some physicians have made it. Since the physiology of each person is different so is their response. That is why in our office everyone gets their own specific plan. I would stay away from physicians who make comments about certain treatments without any education or experience in that subject. NAD may help with some of the residual symptoms of viral infections, bacterial infections, yeast infections, mold infections and parasitic infections... but the effect will be different from patient to patient. Production of NAD at this point is still expensive so is the price. NAD may be followed, if your physician approves of it, by another IV for certain conditions. In essence following NAD with ingredients that increase Mitochondrial function is preferred. You can find a list of these supplements (in oral form) in the link below: bodyofharmony.com/collections/atp-generation-nad-support
Yes, however, NAC can help with multiple reactions in the body especially liver which help detoxification pathways. Detoxifying is indirectly anti-aging.

I do not advise starting multiple supplements at the same time. In case you have a reaction (side effect) you won't be able to know which one caused it. Also, you would want to experience one and see how it makes you feel before adding or trying another one of them. However, at a certain point you can be taking all of them. When taking multiple supplements which affect one pathway I recommend starting with very small amounts and increasing to the regular dosage gradually. Make sure your primary care physician approves of these supplements for your medical history.
So NAD infusion or injection only gives increased energy for 2-3 days ? I got 2 different NAD subcutaneous shots and I did feel energized and more clear for 2-3 days . But only got the shots once a week according to the clinic. Which route of administration is best for NAD ? Patch or subcutaneous injection ? The clinic is too far away for me to go get the slow iv route . But I’d love the benefit. Will the energy last longer over time with treatment ? Thank you 😊
The best route is IV infusion for NAD+, but as you mentioned other routes are available as well. The energy will not last longer, but other benefits of NAD+ will.
Dear Dr. Hakimini: for how long, does Nicotinamide Ribose have to be taken to see significant effect? Besides, is there any contraindication of this supplement with prescribed medications?
Angela, it depends on what an effect means, but generally speaking, everyone has a different physiology and the time lines are always different. Because of its potential multiple benefits a lot of our patients stay on NR. And as I mentioned everyone feels it differently. We usually ask patients who are on anti-hypertensives to be careful with it. Meaning, once they start NR they should monitor their blood pressure regularly. Theoretically speaking NR can decrease blood pressure. So, if and once a patient's blood pressure starts decreasing they can ask their physician to decrease the anti-hypertensive medication, if they are planning to continue with NR.
@@BodyofHarmony Thank you Dr. Hakimi for your time. Although I am not having any anti-hypertensive medication, I notice my blood pressure going down to 110 over 60. I am 80 years old and the only prescribed medication is Synthroid. However, I take several supplements such as: Omega-3 1170 mg (EPA/DHA) 3 capsules per day Cranberry capsules 500 mg. 1 per day Calcium Magnésium Citrate with Vitamine D3 200 IU (250/250 mg) 1 per day Centrum Forte once a day Vitamin D3 1000 UI once a day Potasium 109 mg once a day Zinc Citrate 50 mg. once a day Florastor a probiotic with 5 Billion live cells (Saccharomycides boulardii lyo) Prescribed: Synthroid 50mg Restasis eye drops Optive Fusion eye drops. I wish I would have your information earlier in my life and not at the end of it.
Obviously this needs to be discussed with your internist and liver doctor if you have one as I cannot give directions online. However, NAD+ is in a different pathway than NAC, so they should be fine taken together.
I have energy now been taking NAC vitamin E and Berberine together, but i still have inflamtion and pain in my feet and ankles, any suggestions? I am not taking any other medicine now
The first suggestion is to figure out why you have inflammation. You can do this by finding a functional medicine physician in your area and working with them. Meanwhile, I have some suggestions for supplements: - InflammEnd: bodyofharmony.com/products/inflammend - Inflam-a-Rest: bodyofharmony.com/collections/anti-aging/products/inflame-a-rest?_pos=1&_sid=2adb4bda4&_ss=r The following videos might give you some more information: LDN: th-cam.com/video/2sYAxH24kuQ/w-d-xo.html Inflammation: th-cam.com/video/zlHumQ5mkxA/w-d-xo.html
NMN is a precursor to NAD+. People use either or both to increase their NAD+ levels. It is hard to find a good source of NAD+ that does not get destroyed by stomach acidity.
By definition Fibroids are benign tumors. This is the information I found around a year ago. Unless there are new studies this should still be in effect: I am not aware of any research that shows D-Ribose, NMN, NR, Niacin, or Nicotinamide cause cancer or any causation or correlation studies attributing NAD+ to causing or exacerbating cancer. There are theories hypothesizing that there might be a relative risk of exacerbating cancer based on the Glycolosis pathways NAD+ is responsible for more than 500 reactions in the body and the primary source of energy to the human body. On the other hand some of the reactions NAD+ is responsible in are in DNA repair enzymes potentially reducing the chance of cancer. NAD+, through the effects of PARP’s, may both suppress and progress tumorigenesis, this might be related to prevention of DNA mutations. NAD+ should not be used in breast cancer treatment or any cancer treatment which uses PARP inhibitors. Animal studies of wild type mice has failed to provide any evidence of increased tumor size or number. Interestingly, over expression off NMNAT3 raises mitochondria NAD+ and inhibits the growth of glioblastoma cells and supplementation with NA or NAM inhibits tumor growth and multi-organ metastasis in SCID mice. A phase 3 randomized trial of Nicotinamide for skin cancer chemo-prevention concluded Oral nicotinamide was safe and effective in reducing the rates of new non melanoma skin cancers and actinic keratoses in high-risk patients. If someone is undergoing cancer therapeutics they should stay away from all supplements unless they have been approved or prescribed by their hematologist / oncologist. For those with previous history or family history of cancers the same statement should be made regarding NAD+ boosters. Other studies involving FK866 to reduce the NAD+ did not show any tumor remission in patients with advanced solid tumors. Individuals with family history of cancers, previous history of cancer, suffering from cancers, or undergoing cancer therapeutics should not use NR, NMN, NAD+, D-RIbose, or any other supplements that may increase NAD+ without the approval of their hematologist or oncologist.

Good explanation of these substances and precursors. However I don’t think we should encourage “whole grains” as they go hand and hand with ultrprocessed foods, breads and pastas which spike insulin! We have an obesity epidemic in this country from way too much carbohydrates in the SAD diet.
Yes, please post an article!
How do we measure the efficacy of these supplements? (HMP Shunt/Penrose Parhway)?
There are companies that are now testing for NAD+, however, they are pretty new so ranges need to be set as they collect data.
Will all three supplements that Dr Hakimi mentions cover the NAD+NAC needs? (D-Ribose NAD+ ATP Support Powder +
CoEnzyme Q10 + Mitochondria Boost)
They cover the NAD+ needs.
For NAC needs please see: bodyofharmony.com/products/detoxiliver
all of these molecules NAD, NMN, glutathione, and Resveratrol gave me a stomach pain even with probiotics, what is the solution for this problem? what could someone do with the gastritis issue? Thank you
False Information!
None of these supplements should cause any issues.
If you are experiencing gastritis that should be worked up. I suggest a search to see what may be causing that in you. Search for medication causes of gastritis.
However, if you experience abdominal pain when taking supplements you should take enough food with them to take that sensation away.
Choosing between taking NMN or NR, which do you recommend? Thanks!
I recommend both. If you don't want to take them both every day you can alternate them.
NON TOO EXPENSIVE, TAKE NAC
Thank you for the very interesting discussion. The question I have is " does larger dosages of NAC/NAD do damage to organs or other parts of the body and if so what are the maximum dosages". I'm not referring to things like upset stomach/ loose movements ect as these can be adapted quickly. Cheers John
Large doses of anything, including water, can damage physiology. The question is why would one want to take large doses of anything. This is something we learn in medical school: "Start low, increase slow." It is important to start at lower doses and slowly increase to adjust the dose in each person.
Can you mix NAD with NAN or NR ?
If you mean taking them all daily, yes. If you mean mix them in and IV bag for infusion, no.
Namaste Sir,
Thank you for an insightful video however I got confused as to why is there glutathione among the ingredients in oral supplements if it is not beneficial orally?
At this point the best method of delivery of Glutathione (high dose) is IV. However, oral forms of Glutathione are available as well in capsule forms for a daily use or for those who do not want to get IVs.
Bcs it gets digested before it gets to the blood stream,so nac is more bioavailable.
Can you take nad and nac together or nad and nmn?
Yes. Not in the same IV bag though if you are doing IV.

NMN or NAC to improve kidney function (gfr 49) after transplantation ?
That question should go to the nephrologist, just because it is a transplant!
For anti aging shall I consumo NAD not NAC, right?
Yes, however, NAC can help with multiple reactions in the body especially liver which help detoxification pathways. Detoxifying is indirectly anti-aging.
Do you have a certain supplement brand you recommend? So many out there not sure which one is the best. Than you.

Individuals suspicious of having cancer, family history of cancer, previous history of cancer, suffering from cancer, or undergoing cancer therapeutics should not use NR, NMN, NAD+, D-RIbose, or any other supplements that may increase NAD+ without the approval of their hematologist or oncologist.
Que tanto tiempo se deben de tomar??
how much "NAD" should be in a typical solution?
We recommend starting from 100mg and then based on your response and your physician's recommendation the mg dosage may be increased.
Can I take all three of them at the same time?

However, I take several supplements such as: Omega-3 1170 mg (EPA/DHA) 3 capsules per day
Cranberry capsules 500 mg. 1 per day
Calcium Magnésium Citrate with Vitamine D3 200 IU (250/250 mg) 1 per day
Centrum Forte once a day
Vitamin D3 1000 UI once a day
Potasium 109 mg once a day
Zinc Citrate 50 mg. once a day
Florastor a probiotic with 5 Billion live cells (Saccharomycides boulardii lyo)
Prescribed: Synthroid 50mg
Restasis eye drops
Optive Fusion eye drops.

Any recommendation for a New York facility that approaches IV therapy in a similar way?
I am having NASH and diabetes and taking NAC regularly. Can I take NAD+ also?
Obviously this needs to be discussed with your internist and liver doctor if you have one as I cannot give directions online. However, NAD+ is in a different pathway than NAC, so they should be fine taken together.
Can a person with Rheumatoid Arthritis take NAD?
Yes, I don't see why not. RA is not a contraindication to NAD use.

From which reliable company can you buy NMN?
I can only find nmnh on Amazon. It’s with the H. Is that same, better, or worse?
You can look for it in other places. It will pop up!

No, they are different molecules.

Why if we can buy nad , do we need to buy Nmn ? Why can’t we just take nad
NMN is a precursor to NAD+. People use either or both to increase their NAD+ levels. It is hard to find a good source of NAD+ that does not get destroyed by stomach acidity.
Is it safe to take these if you have uterine fibroids? I’ve heard they make cancer or tumor cells grow?
By definition Fibroids are benign tumors.
This is the information I found around a year ago. Unless there are new studies this should still be in effect:
I am not aware of any research that shows D-Ribose, NMN, NR, Niacin, or Nicotinamide cause cancer or any causation or correlation studies attributing NAD+ to causing or exacerbating cancer.
There are theories hypothesizing that there might be a relative risk of exacerbating cancer based on the Glycolosis pathways
NAD+ is responsible for more than 500 reactions in the body and the primary source of energy to the human body.

My parents mother 64 & father 69 old ...i want them ti have NAC & NAd+ can these 2 supplements be taken together...my father has lung issues...MY GOAL IS TO REVERSE THERE AGING & INCREASE THERE LIFE SPAN
Hello,
First of all because of their age all supplements need to be discussed with their general doctor. They might be on medication or have conditions that might worsen with any supplements. In general these 2 supplements can be taken together if no medical issues.
