I probably went overkill with this, but I hooked up a relay as seen in some other videos to bypass the whole parking brake thing. I may have done it incorrectly because when I hook up my android phone and scroll through a playlist with google play music, it will only go through a few songs and then say, "Scrolling Locked for safety" or something. I also think that the auto dimmer doesn't work as it is pretty bright at night, but not bright enough during the day. I hope that sony comes with a firmware update so as to stop the message that pops up every time you turn the car on.
I figured out what was wrong with the dimmer. It was connected to my headlights, so when I turn my headlights on, the dimmer turns on. When I turn my headlights off, the dimmer turned off.
I have a Sony Cdx-g1050u mp3 front loader and would like to have my steering control function controlling my radio mainly volume and track change... Please help me get this done
Can you hook up multiple wires to the red wire? Like a 12 Volts Switched Power and a ACC (backup camera) I watched the backup camera install video you did for this receiver and got confused by the use of the red wire. Thanks for your help and info!
+Charles Warren the red wire is your cars accessory wire. How many things it will power depends on the application. If you are using a basic harness yes it will power the radio and a camera no problem. If you are using a smart harness to power up your radio, you may need a relay. Most smart harness only put out 3-5 amps, not enough for both devices.
I have a 98 civic with an older sony aftermarket head unit. Rear speakers play sound but the front door speakers will not. I battery tested the door speakers so they work, this has led me to believe its likely a connection from the head unit harness to the speakers. I pulled the stereo and looked at the harness but the grey and white wires are all connected correctly. I have an extra orange , blue and blue/white wire dangling. Any ideas that might help me diagnose and fix this issue? Thanks
you mentioned " if you have a factory amp and an amp, you need a relay" i have a 2008 nissan titan which comes with a factory amp and i am adding a 600 watt sony xplode amp powering 2 rockford fosgate 10in shallow mounts, i am also adding a boss flip out radio and a 7 channel clarion equalizer. how do i connect a factory amp to a installed amp?

Hi guys, just picked this up for my 07 Corolla! For the ground, my harness also has a black wire which says -12V. Seeing this claw thing on the black wire, can I connect it to the harness or do I have to find something metal on the car to clip it onto?

Plebe Juan you will need a smart harness. There are a couple different once depending on what features you have in the car. You can find them all at www.bestkits.com
how do you guys power your stereos in the shop? i have tried to power my car receiver at home with no success. I connect the red and yellow wires together from the power connector. then i connect the positive from a 12V adapter to the yellow and red wires and the negative to the black wire on the power connector but it doesn't work. Luis Perez ok, we connect the black to the Ground - negative and twist the red and yellow together and connect to the + positive. We turn the radio on and off with the power supply.

I snipped the end, then spliced the negative to the black ground wire from the power connector on the head unit and the positive to the red and yellow wires but it doesn't work. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or if this is supposed to work at.

where i i have to plug blue ? i connected all cables and my sony stereo wont work, last time was working.. whaat could happend.. only cable i left unplugged is blue..
Blue is a positive feed to a sub woofer when radio is turned on, or to an electric antenna. If you haven't got these just insulate it and leave it unconnected.

Adam McGrath the dimmer wire might not be connected to wire on the car side of the plug even though it was in the harness.

Davis Byer you can cut both wires( green and black) and connect them to the black wire in your Toyota Adapter plug.

Luis Perez the radios need 10 amps of current to work. The power plug you are using may not have enough power to turn on the radio.

the white white/black is passenger grey grey/black is driver green green/black passenger rear purple purple/black driver rear
@@krazywog It's left front/right front and left rear/right rear. The colors are the same for the corners, you guys just call them different things.
