Hi Andrew. I was wondering, if you knew how I can figure out what crossovers order the low pass is on this specific head unit, (or if you happen to know what kind it is) because I can’t turn it off, I can only set it to a max of 120 hertz. I feel I’m kind of forced to use it instead of the low pass crossover on my sub channel amp. I’m using a sealed enclosure with a kxa800.5 kicker amp that’s got 24db order crossovers. I’ve heard that you can get steeper slopes if you mix up the crossovers. Could you point me in the right direction of what I should do? Perhaps I should just use the head unit crossover, and keep the amp crossover off?
🎉 perfect! EXACTLY but I was looking for... I'm running the xav-1500 but settings are identical! Thank you so much for a no-nonsense video! Appreciate it
Thank you! I couldn't figure out how to turn down the bass. When it's too loud in a closed in space like a car I can get a migraine. Your explanation was really helpful.
Great video straight to the point and informative thank you…one question, I just bought a vehicle with this and it has this head unit but no backup camera. Is it possible to add one and project the backup cam onto this screen?
Gotta question for you guys. Does adjusting the frequency 63hz and lower affect the coaxials in the door or would that affect the subwoofer? I mean with the eq on the head unit. AND the crossover to the coaxials is set at 80hz. If it changes the sound of the coaxials then am i wasteing the bands of eq adjustments under 80hz?
You guys rock! I am looking to purchase this Sony head unit from you. I have a few questions regarding the 10 band eq and DSO. I am going to put (1) 12" subwoofer in the back of my Ford Ranger and will be using an aftermarket amplifier running the rca from this Sony head unit to my aftermarket amplifier. *My first question is will the ten band EQ mess with my single sub in the back of my truck or will it only tune my 2 front and two rear 6x9's ? *My second question is the same for the DSO ? *My third question is about the subwoofer level on the Sony EQ, should I just leave that at zero and adjust the aftermarket amplifier that I purchase? *My last question is regarding the crossover on the Sony unit. Does the high and low only adjust my four 6x9's and leave my subwoofer alone? You guys are great and thanks in advance!
DSO helps to clean up the muddiness of stock door speakers and makes them a bit louder. I have it on high as my speakers are currently stock. Play around with the EQ as it will affect all speakers connected to the headunit. If you have a subwoofer then you do not need extra bass as it will distort the audio from my experience and I have a 12’ pioneer bass bullet sub.
Also wanted to say that high pass crossover is for the door speakers. and if it’s at 120hz it means the speakers will pick up all frequencies including high ones. Low pass crossover is your subwoofer and you can play around with the frequencies that you want that to pick up. I have mine set to about 80hz as I want the door speakers to pick up more higher frequencies
@@cdst1997 is it bad to set it to max which is 120 for the subwoofer cause my door speakers aren’t good for bass and I feel they distort easily. Specifically the infinity kappa 682.11cf I asked but in case you know. Should I use the head unit crossovers or my 4th order crossovers on my amp? I’m running a 10 inch in a sealed enclosure.
@@EdgarMendezz This was from a while ago. From what I remember you want subwoofer to pick up the lower frequencies that's why I set it at 80hz which is pretty good for my setup and 120hz for the door speakers. If it is 80hz for door speakers then it can actually create distortion from what I tried cause it is matching frequencies that are too low... I'm also now running the bass boost on high and it sounds better, but really it's subjective so I suggest you play around.
any reason the sub control is not actually doing anything I have it connected to the preamp out and it's not doing anything whether I turn it on or off anything missing?
How do you set the eq and the crossover on the radio?? If the amp already has a crossover and the gain are already set for the speakers so you don’t blow them??
Is there any way to change the gain? Im trying to install a 1500w amplifier and a 10" subwoofer and im having issues with the sub not being super loud like with my kenwood radio.
This video is literally life. We have two different set ups and put both in the car trying to figure out why my sub wasn’t hitting like it’s supposed to. 😩 of course it’s the settings.
I have a mex n4200 can anyone tell me how to adjust it for the best music experience I got 2 suwb on the back and 2 stereo in the front doors ( peugeot 206) and thx
I am having the trouble that it does not matter how the volume of my stereo is setup, whenever I have an incoming call the audio is super loud for the ring. Any suggestion? Thanks
I’m trying to install this same stereo to my Yukon using a pac rp5-gm11 but not getting any audio. I’m so frustrated because I’ve triple checked everything but no luck. Sony powers up and works great but no sound.
n r - I’ve already made sure the remote amp connection is good with proper voltage and nothing. I even bought another pac unit just in case the first one was bad and still no sound. I also selected number 8 on the pac unit because the manual calls for the setting for Sony stereos. I put in the stock stereo to make sure the bose amp was still good and of course everything worked fine. I’m about ready to give up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
J Cerna I’ve had some instances in my install days where the amp turn on in the aftermarket harness was pinned wrong with some companies. You may want to try to look at a pin out from a Metra brand harness to see where they have the amp turn on and verify the spot. Also try tapping in to the red ign wire since it does the same function just to see if you get sound. Also make sure you’re not confusing the power antenna wire for the amp turn on just in case. One rare thing to check. Since I don’t have personal Experience with this HU. Is make sure there isn’t a setting in the head unit that gives you the option of either using internal amp or external. And maybe since the subwoofer level has a on off it could be turned off as I don’t know if it kills the subwoofer by the remote wire or attenuating the rca out
Unless you’re 16 years old and this is your first car radio, this info is absolutely useless. BTW, DSO doesn’t make your “factory setup” sound bigger. It changes the “stage” by “lifting” the sound stage, making your door speakers sound as if they are mounted in your dashboard.
I rarely comment but this video is a MUST WATCH for any owners of this Sony Car Play unit. Extremely helpful. Thanks guys!

Love all your detailed reviews about the sony xav 100! Keep posting more stuff. Thank you!
Thank you! I couldn't figure out how to turn down the bass. When it's too loud in a closed in space like a car I can get a migraine. Your explanation was really helpful.
If it’s too loud you’re too old
what should I set as high pass/low pass filter for my car ? Talking about the Sony Xav ax 1000, my car: Honda CRV 2009
HAHAHA THE 1:17 “subwufferfofume control” HAS ME ROLLING
Awesome video. Very informative and what seemed difficult made easier.
This video was very well explained and very viewer friendly!
Very helpful. Yesterday only I fixed xav 3000. I will try this. Thanks
Thank you!!! I’ve been killing my speakers with the extra bass option 😭
Great info. Enjoying my 100 in my Sprinter van. Now to get a subwoofer.
Finally someone explains ! Great video !
You guys really helped me out on this, thank you!
thought i had a bad unit but turns out my settings were just all messed up lol. thanks!
Awesome video quick but very
Informative
I really home that Sony releases a good app to go with their radio because I really like the way they organize everything. Great video!
Tim datoolman yeah I wish I knew. Sony does not talk to anyone
Great vid. Thanks for all the details. you guys rock.
Would you adjust the low and high pass filters if you have the same filters on your amp already adjusted?
Explain Crossover in detail for this Sony system..
Question... should I use my pioneer radios crossover to set sound.. or use the crossover on amp.. thanks
Hi bro what will be the best setting if we required higher bass from component speaker

Thank you for making this way simpler. Many of the videos out there get a little too technical lol
I appreciate your videos, I’ve learned a lot from them, thanks!
Thanks u bro....finally at the last i got it for what i m looking for..

Hey bro, I have the same problem. Sub work but radio sub control not. Did you fix it somehow?
@@syriusz7 It ended up being the preamp wire I believe. I think it was loose something like that sorry man its been a long while since I fixed it.
Easy to follow definitely a great video.. thanks
Good video this helped me alot thank you
Super helpful, thank you!
Does anyone know what kind of crossover order these use? 4th order? or 2nd order?
Well, this doesn't help with much with headphones EQ but GREAT tutorial, gives me an idea on how to do it, thanks 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This video explains everything that I'm going to need to know on my install lol.
Kurupt 830 cool
Wonderful video
How do you set the eq and the crossover on the radio?? If the amp already has a crossover and the gain are already set for the speakers so you don’t blow them??
I just got a new Sony stereo but my subs sound super weak now. I had a kenwood before. Hopefully this helps lol
Super helpful couldnt figure out what the DSO was
Can someone explain difference in sony series DSX RSX CDX etc... I cannot find anywhere on the internet...
So has anybody tested it to see where it distorts? I like the videos you guys use to make about testing various receivers maybe can bring it back.
Depends on your eq settings
My particular head unit this one specifically, (but maybe each one is slightly different) distorts at 43 volume with a 0db test tone.
Can I set rear speakers as a Subwoofer?
My eq is greyed out. Can’t figure out why? Sony ax3200.
Is there any way to change the gain? Im trying to install a 1500w amplifier and a 10" subwoofer and im having issues with the sub not being super loud like with my kenwood radio.
gain is on the amp not stereo
hey guys. i was wondering if i can take signal from my radio send it to a crossover then from the crossover to a eq then to an amp

how do you have your rcas hooked up i’m trying to figure that out
is the ax5000 pretty much the same?
Brilliant video
Does the pioneer avh 4200nex have dso?
GoproZack the 4200 has full custom time alignment and auto EQ.
Five Star Car Stereo is that better then dso?
GoproZack it can be, if you want to put the time in.
I have this unit and i had the hpf and lpf inverted 😅
I have a mex n4200 can anyone tell me how to adjust it for the best music experience
I got 2 suwb on the back and 2 stereo in the front doors ( peugeot 206) and thx
Great video...can you do a demo on USB file browser on this sony?...and play some video file...
Amir zaheen Minhaj we are working on that, yes
Great video man! Life safer thanks !
Thanks man😊
DSO is Very helpful feature
HELPFUL BOSS!!!
Anybody know a setup for it to be pretty loud but clear (Bass doesn't matter)
I am having the trouble that it does not matter how the volume of my stereo is setup, whenever I have an incoming call the audio is super loud for the ring. Any suggestion? Thanks
Eric Bris find the setting for in call volune and turn it down

J Cerna you need to hook up the amp remote wire since the Yukon more likely has the stock bose system

The sub control in this radio it's not doing anything. U cant even controll your bass. Im so
disappointment. And yeah i install sub+amp correctly.
