There is no camera on the market that can much Sony a1 for bird in fly and action photography. It has no rolling shutter and the best focusing system . I started photography using box camera more than 50 years ago . I used different brands of cameras during this period. There is no better camera for low light and action photography , I am already using it for more than 1 year and I have very satisfied with it.

I have the A1. Bought the a7rv and sold it two months later. I prefer the stacked sensor, 1/32000 to shoot wide open in daylight without using filters, can use flash with electronic sensor and top dials for easy access. I don’t need a flippy screen or ai tracking. And here’s hoping that Sony will release a final awesome firmware update now that they have just released a firmware update that will lay the foundation for something big

flash sync speed is a big plus for the A1 and use can also use flash in silent

Interesting comparison video. I just recently purchased the A7R5 and the A9 III and sold my A7 IV which I shot with for over 3 years. I mulled over my decisions for quite a long time because I thought I might want to wait for that A1 Mark II but there is no clear indication from Sony that they plan on doing a refresh anytime soon, I was intrigued by what I was seeing out there in regards to the A9 III for fast action etc. Your comments about the A1 seem appropriate in the sense that the camera is over 3 years old and getting a bit dated in terms of tech and form factor. Surprising that not even an announcement has been made on any future refresh. I have watched multiple videos on the A7RV and after getting it and shooting a few events at my church I am very impressed with this camera. I also love to shoot wildlife and although this camera is limited in FPS for static birds or wildlife its very good! For faster moving wildlife and sports I use my A9 III which is simply a BEAST! I can only imagine that when Sony decides to refresh their A1 line all the tech and form factor of the A9 III will most likely be in it. Not sure about the global shutter but with even an ergonomics refresh the A1 would benefit. Thinking about paying the full price for an A1 now seems ridiculous. Sony should lower the price.

TLDR: If you've never used a stacked sensor camera before: grab the A7RV and a new GM lens. If you're already an A9 or so user, you can never go back. Thus A1 or a9III to come.

  • @henrikw377
    @henrikw377 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The decision is based on whether you have used a blackout free EVF for anything fast moving before. If you haven't, get the A7RV and live in blissful ignorance of how good it is. If you have, you already know what you need to get.

Soooo sad I spent $$$$ on the A1 flagship, and did not get the latest and greatest Sony upgrades that should be a staple to the flagship.... Great video GWC... and come on Sony, at least give us a firmware update!!!!

Non stacked sensors are simply to slow in fast moving low light situations. And the A7RV is no exeption. Stacked sensors are much better in focus tracking and produce far more in foccus pictures.

I’m an A9 mk1 camera user. I’ve got an opportunity to use a7r V for a few shoots. In the high fps burst a7r V is significantly worse than a9 ;-)
As someone commented: let’s wait for a9iii or a1ii ;-)

😂Your comments re your kids make me howl with laughter, please keep it up. I have an a7iv and it's brilliant. Would love an a7v and an a1 and an Aston Martin to take me to my Lear jet. But saving for a helicopter takes it out of you 🤣many thanks for your realistic views 🇬🇧

I’d still buy the A1 because of the stacked processor. The A7R5 is not capable of performing faster.

Buy both. Then return the one you like the least. 🤣🤣 I just can't believe Sony hasn't added any firmware updates to give the A1 the A7iV & A7RV features.

I’m selling my A1 for the 5. It’s already dropping in value and its resale return will only hurt more. Like he said, the firmware updates have been unimpressive and the 8k is almost unusable due to the heating even at the highest setting to take it.

Personally I’m still keeping the A1 for 4k 120,1/400 flash sync, 30fps(though I usually get more like 20), blackout free bursts, and less rolling shutter. Af(humans at least) and resolution on a1 and a7r5 are quite similar in the real world from what I’ve seen. Only real upgrades on the a7r5 imo is the new screen and ibis and some software features like focus breathing compensation which should absolutely be added to the A1.

Seems like the Sony A1 is more comparable to the Canon R5. 20 vs 30 frame rate and a few Mp less. Both with super autofocus but huge price difference.
