    It has more noise if you’re comparing it at 100% to something like an A7iii at 100%, but that’s not a fair comparison, since you’re viewing the A1 file at a much larger size.
    When you scale them to the same resolution, like you would in every real world scenario for print or digital, the noise is compressed, so the noise performance is typically as good or better than lower resolution cameras. And like you mentioned, the extra detail gives you more headroom for noise reduction while retaining detail.

    • @supersingular
      @supersingular 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Exactly. The A1 actually has less noise in real world use.

    Sony a1 has the most dynamic range of all hybrid cams. This makes it the closesr to a cinema camera. So for filming there is no better dlsr style camera and its a perfect photo camera also. The a1 is worth its money

    @kevinkillsit 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    The noise is manageable if you stick to the parameters that the camera performs best at. ISO 100 and 500 on the A1 give the most dynamic range lowest noise. The difference between 400 and 500 is huge.

  • @judem429
    @judem429 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I’m the opposite. I sold my a9 and a7r4 and bought the a1. I couldn’t care less about the screen but I really need the extra dial at the top. I didn’t like the space the photos take up so I use APS-C lenses. They are lighter and very clear. Stick a 55 on the a1 and I can use it for street photography. I’ve never had it freeze on me. What I like best about it is that it compensates for ME. If I forget to take it off 2000 shutter when I enter a darkened temple, my dear a1 still snaps good photos. It is by far the best camera I’ve ever used!

    I love my Sony A1 with the 35-150. I also have the 150-600 and a couple others.
    Sony a1 i think will be the top camera for a while still. I think it is so advanced that there's no need to upgrade. The af alone is far more superior and now with the new af and steady firmware update I'd say its extremely hard to beat. If your pictures are not turning out with either camera it's the photographers error. Even in most literature and real world reviews sony af among other things keep coming up on top. With unbiased reviewers ofcourse. I think the Sony is a little power house and if you need that extra grip you can put it on. You don't have to carry that extra weight especially when your hiking taking pics of wildlife and you have one of those huge lenses to capture your subjects. Plus with it's compact size it's more versatile so you can use it with most gimbals. If we're talking about serious videography that's huge plus. You dont have to spend more money for a larger gimbal plus all the add-ons you would use with a cage. This compact size would help keep the weight down which people dont realize how cumbersome these all that can be. So that compact body is perfect.The Sony a1 body alone is extremely versatile. And don't forget Sony makes sensors for most of these cameras including Nikon. So where would Nikon be without Sony tech. As for working in the dark i don't need gimmicks to get the job done. It's called muscle memory. It's not hard to memorize the buttons. Plus all the third-party lenses. Nikon to call this it's flagship i think is a huge error considering the z8 is rumored to come out.I just think people like to jump on the next new not necessarily the best thing. No loyalty imo. Although you can't go wrong with either in the end.

    as for on/off switch, certain cameras may have an issue with a flex cable inside, that can wear off by simply on/off switch movements, that's why I prefer on/off buttons in different places, but I guess quality standards in flagships are much better (I hope)

    I am switching over from the Canon R5 and R6. Had a love hate relationship with these cameras for 2 years, then came to the point where I just couldn’t stand them anymore. Have had so many issues. I rented the A1, hated it at first (probably because I’ve been a Canon shooter for 15 years), but then once I got everything setup, shot a wedding and a couple sessions with it, I loved it. And YES the on/off switch being on the front right side, just like my Fuji’s was a huge plus. I actually felt the A1 was a great companion next to my Fuji GFX. So now I’m on the lookout for a backup/secondary full frame body to the A1 for wedding days. Would you say the A7IV has the closest colors to the A1? Or would you have another recommendation?

      I hate the flip out screen on my a7siii and a7iv. Way too time consuming to just tilt the damn screen up. The a7siii should have a flip out screen but the higher end photo cameras absolutely shouldn’t.

  • @onegreenev
    @onegreenev ปีที่แล้ว

    Just remember, it's not a vlogging camera. Flip out is for vlogging. If you need a flip out screen so you can see if you are in frame then get a mirror connected to your hot shoe or something so you can see if you are in frame. It's cheap and requires no power. Just connect it and you are good to go. I use one with my iPhone. A camera looking handle to hold the camera and on the front is a mirror I can flip around when not needed so I can use my good camera for vlogging instead of the front crappy camera. So a mirror for vlogging should be an easy thing to adapt. That is all a reversed screen is anyway. An electronic mirror.

    Please look into the possibility that your wrist issues were related to *not* using a vertical grip, given the width of your palm.

    • @luisedtr07
      @luisedtr07  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Can you explain more??

    • @UnconventionalReasoning
      @UnconventionalReasoning 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@luisedtr07 When a person's hand is bigger than the grip, they tilt their wrist up to hold the camera. When the grip is bigger than the hand, as with the vertical grip, they hold their wrist straight, reducing the strain on it.
      In addition, the hold can be more relaxed when the grip is used. Consider the brackets holding up a shelf. If they are small, the shelf can support a limited weight. But with a larger bracket, it will support more weight. Or, with the larger bracket, less stress will be applied for the same weight. That is happening with the grip.
      To test this, it is important to have the index finger on the shutter, because that also shifts the wrist position. It also removes the index finger from holding the camera. Both increase the gripping requirement of the other fingers and the strain on the wrist.

    For the first one, well yea file sizes are massive when you shoot 50mp, but you do have the option to lower it to a lower resolution in raw so the file sizes could be smaller, but if you’re just going to shoot at lower resolution, then it would just make more sense to get the A7IV. Personally don’t have that issue since I have tens of terabytes of available storage but I get that some people don’t have that option. And for the noise performance, well personally I was quite impressed, we all I have different expectations and the A1 certainly met mine. I have very stable hands so sometimes I can even get away with 1/8 shutter handheld with effectively no motion blur though a lot of times that’s not possible so sometimes it is kind of bad, especially low light video compared to the A7SIII. And for system error, well I’ve actually gotten those error messages or any system errors really, I guess I just got lucky there. And for the flip out screen, well year I agree with you, I also would’ve preferred a flip out screen. Also one thing that impressed me was how strong the shutter is, once I accidentally pushed my finger on the shutter pretty hard and I thought the shutter definitely broke because it’s often the most fragile part of a camera and somehow, the shutter continued to work perfectly fine so that’s something else I’m quite impressed with

    System error is a real problem. Mine started this switching on and off loop with system error message. Retailer told me it’s a motherboard issue and they will replace it. Why do you not at least comment about what you all tried and why that could not make up for it to you - in Your video... I think an external monitor might even quadruple quality and pleasure without being clunky.

It doesn't really change how I use the Z8 much. The image quality of the Z8 for both video and photography make me want to always reach for the Z8 first, selling the A7SIII soon. I can do almost anything with the A7IV,, so I'm very torn on trading both Sony's up for a single A1. Why Sony A1 seems to have better color science or more noise : AA fiter , not BSI
    Since the camera shoot faster it will have less time to process the image so they needed to put this AA filter
    Canon lovers will love the A1 color science and image rendering however that does not make it better image quality than other models using BSI and no AA.
    Viewing the a7IV which now has BSI, we can see how they improved the color science even with a BSI sensor, and I think that's one of the reasons they take so long to launch the A7RV, because they are trying to make good color out of the camera with BSI and no AA filter in high res.
    We can all see how sharp looks the images from sony cameras having BSI and no AA filter (they lack the punchy colors).
    And that's one of the reason fuji x cameras makes great images, they use no AA and now start to make BSI sensors, but with a secret ingredient : the x-trans sensors which does need less processing for colors. In fact we have to compensate the lack of colorful rendering when removing AA filter IMO

    It sounds ridiculous to buy a 50mpx camera to use it in 21, but in my case I do many product shoots where more mpx is convenient and when I document events I can lower the resolution and take up much less memory and time in post-production in LR

Next, there's no logic in buying a camera over 36 MP and not first considering the files sizes. That means that anyone would have to have enough space to keep and archive files with redundancy. I went straight from 16 MP APS-C to 36 MP full frame, yet logically I already had extra computers, bought multiple SD cards, and got a slew of portable hard drives. All the nonsense about color science is a scam when people are going to redo and fix the pictures/video in software anyway. It's not as if you have to walk around inside the computer doing the work, like some sort of skilled craftsman. How can you afford some much gear? Looking at your subscribers, you're probably not making a living outta TH-cam. Any advice to be able to buy all these expensive gears?

      Lol nah I just started posting on YT and I use it as a platform to create and publish :).. I’ve had my own business since I was 21. And after a decade of being broke and sleeping under my desk I was finally able to.. not be broke 😂

    I have to wonder about the credibility of someone who pays $7k for a body and the main reason for dumping it is the lack of a flip out selfie screen ... just sayin'

    You getting some weird hate comments somehow related to you “trying to be a TH-camr” on TH-cam. I don’t get what’s wrong with some of these people smh
