    This video shows you how to replace a water pump (coolant pump / anti-freeze pump) on a Ford Mustang 1994-2004. The process is very similar for other cards, so the tips and advice is applicable in all cases.
    ----
    A coolant pump is a type of pump used to recirculate a coolant, generally a liquid, that is used to transfer heat away from an engine or other device that generates heat as a byproduct of producing energy.
    Radiators are heat exchangers used for cooling internal combustion engines, mainly in automobiles but also in piston-engined aircraft, railway locomotives, motorcycles, stationary generating plant or any similar use of such an engine.
    Internal combustion engines are often cooled by circulating a liquid called engine coolant through the engine block, where it is heated, then through a radiator where it loses heat to the atmosphere, and then returned to the engine. Engine coolant is usually water-based, but may also be oil. It is common to employ a water pump to force the engine coolant to circulate, and also for an axial fan to force air through the radiator.

      a mechanice charged me 350 to replace my water pump in my 2004 mustang gt for parts and labor that doesnt sound right if its only 20?

    • @TutorialGenius
      @TutorialGenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrDannyBoy25 I think thats a good price for a car with an inaccessible water pump (where you have to remove the timing belt).
      However, for a car like this, its just a quick slip of the serpentine belt and a couple of bolts. Drain and purge coolant. $200 is fair. $350, too high IMO!

      I know this is a little late and you’ve probably found and solved the leak but on 99-01 models I’ve heard the plenum can crack where the thermostat housing is at.

    So about how long you think you can go before that bitch it is completely messed up. Mine started leaking on Saturday and figured out it was the water pump today and I gotta finish the work week. The drip is enough to just about empty my reservoir in an 10 hour period of just sitting.

    • @TutorialGenius
      @TutorialGenius  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As long as there is coolant in the system, you're good! The temperature gauge is your friend!
      I had a Vauxhall that leaked a gallon over 10 miles for a week or so (same situation!). Just keep it topped. At this point, i dont see the point in buying coolant, especially in the cold weather, just use water. You'll flush it out anyway.
      Luckily, these are easy to replace!! You dont have to mess around with the engine timing.
      Good luck
