there is a burp valve above the thermostat housing to let air out

according to my haynes manual you have to apply rtv to the bolt that enters the coolant passage

What is the sensor that was unplugged on the water ump housing? The housing that the new pump bolts on to.

Can someone help me? I have a 2001 v6 mustang and the water pump bypass pipe is leaking only. Can I just replace the o ring without replacing entire water pump? Any tricks on getting the bypass pump tube out of the water pump if so? Is the system under pressure so I need to drain first?
You will need to drain the systems coolant, Then you will have to take off the Water Pump Pulley to access that tube and then you can replace just the gasket. make sure to follow the directions in this video for reinstall of the tube.

Should just be a pulley puller/installer kit. Most auto stores have one you can borrow
This video is for the 3.8 L V6 not the 4.6 SOHC 2 valve engine.
Are there no gasket for the water pump? Or is optional
new water pump should come with it

rent special tools at auto parts stores. i like o'reilies but auto zone has those things too

My coolant bypass pipe won't come out at all
Mine neither, I cracked it trying to remove it
They literally show you how to work on a car with no grease or anything on it lmao, most of the parts on my car have never been replaced

Haynes manuals are not the greatest. Look on page 1-14, that is an olds water pump, NOT A FORD. Shouldn't these books show the parts we are handling. On page 3-7, it says 5.0 but shows a 429/460 water pump. These cars come with BIG motors???.
This is why I always tell my friends Haynes never can top Chilton's Manuals, The overall quality of haynes is just plain out lazy.
