HeyJoe, I am so glad I found your videos. Wished I would have found you a couple of years ago. I acquired a 1992 Yamaha 40 MSHQ. It’s hard to find information I need. It hade been sitting up for awhile and it’s obvious that when ever something broke the previous owner would rig something up rather than replace parts. After I replaced everything in the all three carburetors I had a hard time with link and sync. Part of the reason is there’s linkage or something missing to where the throttle is not triad into the CDI. Instead there’s a piece of stiff wire hooked to it coming out the cowling and I had to control the CDI by moving the wire in and out. Currently have to use it to control the idle then when I want to use the throttle I have to pull the wire at the same time. I’ve figured out and fixed the rest of the problems I found but I don’t know how or what’s missing. I’ll be checking out the rest of your videos. Especially since you covered an older Yamaha in this one. Mine doesn’t like muffs either I have to use the round ones and clamp them. I’ll be getting a set like yours now. Thanks for the information videos keep it up.
I have 2 1996 Yamaha's and have the same problem . My collection of earmuffs is plenty. Each spring I try them all and you never know which one will work better. So you are not alone on this problem
Excellent, I just bought the one that didn't work for my old Yamaha, and I debated on the winner but it was several more dollars, so I guess back to the store. Thanks! I think you're right on that twist and the circular muffs deliver more even pressure to seal on the runner up model.
What if you put muff #2 in a vise and gave it a muff adjust squeeze? My Yamaha 50 (2006) that I bought yesterday came with the round one but really looks like it needs a fairly narrow rectangular one. Good video
Great video and very helpful! I've had the same problem with my Suzuki 90 and yamaha 25. "After you go through a couple muffs, you figure out which one works best for you."
I’ve got the first 2 types you tested for my 130hp Yammy I had no issues using either but I prefer the one’s you tested first because the water comes in both sides.
I was just breaking in my new Yamaha 115 and when I went to do the flush, I couldn’t get water out the tell-tale. I have the rectangle muffs! Going to upgrade to the dual hose muffs and try again. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like you are on your way to getting that motor going!
Hey man, keep on making videos. We need good quality content from people who know their stuff, and I appreciate your work.
About to try the rectangular muffs with the dual flow on my Yamaha F90 2006. Just got the impeller changed, and hoping I’ll see that stream.
I appreciate that!
I feel like the tighter the muff the better.
Agreed!

I found the cheap round muffs seem to work the best.
Thanks man. I've struggled with the same problem with my F200 Yamaha. Your video is very helpful.
Glad the video helped you!

Trial and error, This one was a bit of a challenge but finally got it lol
Very helpful review. Thanks much
No problem!

Glad it helped, just got to find the right ones for your motor.

I'm glad you found one that works for you!
I have a dual feed muff but it doesn’t have the flexible hose. Excellent video.
Thanks!
Great video my friend
Thank you 👍

Sorry to hear that the dual hose muffs work perfectly for me.
Great video. I have the first one. Garbage for my Yamaha. The cheap last one is the one that works for me.
Funny how much difference they make on different engines!
Nice video
Thank you! Your channel looks great keep it up!
@@ExtremeDIYGuy Thank you very much
@@fishingwithfilitsa YOur welcome! I subscribed. I have a video publishing tonight of the final Boston Whaler restoration you might like.
@@ExtremeDIYGuy Ok thank you
Nice video, I’ve had the same experience and honestly thought I was doing something wrong with the rectangular ones. To the trash they go.
It can be frustrating when they don't work right!
I had to use a clamp on the second one too! On a merc 18 two stroke
It can be a pain but as long as you have good flow should be good to go!
"Muff out" ...good one!
Thanks for the review
Lol, thanks!
I tried your winner and it didn’t work for me (2012 Yamaha ). Still looking for a solution.
Best to find the muffs that work best for your particular engine.
I also have the round and the rectangular muff and the round it so much better
It would be helpful if you were actually able to identify each brand and model.
They are all generic. There are affiliate links in the description.
I had just the opposite results! Round one didn’t work. Rectangle on shot it out!
Great! I would go with the one you're motor prefers! 👍
