Wow, Locals slippers at $6.99 now? Yeah, same here, $2.99 was like the norm and I remember Walmart would have them at 2 pairs for $5!! I'll definitely have to go Papa Ole's on my next trip to HNL! That Big J combo is for sure a sharing plate.

Bill Fong, You can’t be Korean or Japanese since your surname is Fong. It’s great to see Chinese people leave comments. You are correct that it is colder lately in the cold parts of the country. However, it wasn’t this cold before. The reality is that they did not film this video today, and immediately uploaded it today. I will bet that they are no longer in Hawaii now during these colder weather days lately. Tim Ho Wan does have abalone dim sum in Hawaii, but Not in NYC. They have never shown any Chinese delicacy foods in their videos. I guess their Chinese fans are probably only 1% which is lousy!!!!!! Forget about ginseng congee too!!!!! These holidays are no big deal to me. For me, the only big deal is my already passed December birthday!!!! Was just at Disneyland Friday and had a dole whip and realized that something was missing…the pineapple bits that I had a the plantation in Oahu earlier in the year.
Dah nex time u folks stay oahu .. gota’h check out in dah town of waipahu Leeward drive-in they’re known for their fried noodles best in the world The fried chicken and the pork plate is really good as well With the brown gravy😋😋😋 best poke tanioka also in waipahu located just down the road they also have all kind other grindz lot of pupu🤙🏾🤙🏾🤙🏾
I'm not sure when it became popular, but when I left Hawaii in 1978, I had never heard of loco moco before and Rainbow didn't have it on their menu. Just to let you know how old I am, the chili plate was only $.90! BTW, my wife and I were also in stuck in Waikiki on Sunday during the marathon. Also, I totally agree with you, the original malasada is THE best. I tried the cinnamon sugar one for the first time, it was OK. Mahalo for this video!
Not sure the origin of the Loco Moco, but glad it was created. Man, they closed all the streets in and around the marathon til like 5pm, that was fun! That’s the day we just walked to Rainbow and Leonard’s. 🤣
@@billandlisa From what I remember of the stories I've heard over the past few years, Cafe 100 in Hilo claims to have created the loco moco quite a few years back. But there was another restaurant in Hilo that also claims they invented it. Either way, it was created in Hilo. We were on the opposite side of Waikiki, so the traffic situation was back to normal than on your end.

Hi Daniel! We all had a safe flight back home, thank you. Flights to and from Los Angeles to Hawaii doesn’t include meals (only in First Class), so there isn’t too much to vlog. We do have a Business Class flight vlog from New York to Amsterdam where we documented our whole experience.
