I appreciate the fact that you explain reason for room costs---so important for people to understand why prices are different. The hotel is a wonderful old girl with a rich history. Hubby and I stayed next door at the Outrigger and took a tour of the Moana Surfrider---the beachside area with the famed banyan tree is so special---as are you!
Moana was the hotel we stayed at when my mom brought me to Hawaii when I was 11 yrs old! Lived the rest of my life in Honolulu and Kailua …about 60 years…I am 69 now and have since moved to San Diego to be with my daughter and family…the Moana is the best hotel in my opinion! Classic old Hawaii!
I love Island Vintage Coffee , the egg meals are fantastic and beautiful too! And the Pupu House looks fantastic! I’m so jealous of this trip! ABC stores are my favorite! You two are so adventurous!

Family knows how I feel about this and and received frien rice without peas and carrots at a restaurant one time and a grandson said you like this don't you ? Yep 🥰Have a fun filled safe trip. We just pack the essentials, clothes for the number of days we're there, toiletries, headphones/AirPods, charging cables, etc. Think our backpacks are 30L.
You are guys are my travel inspiration 🥰 I was there a few weeks ago and stayed at the Outrigger Resort by the beach (chose it based on your last Waikiki vlog) and got luckily upgraded to a corner 1 bedroom suite (balcony was facing the beach). It was FANTASTIC! So worth it and it was my first time to Hawaii ever. I see why people keep coming back. International Market right across the street with loads of food options up and down the "strip" and shops from mid to high end. I needed that trip and it did not disappoint. Keep those vlogs coming, guys! Couples goals! Love you!

That is one of my "dream" trips! We stayed at Princess Kaiulani Sheraton for family vacays many times. Good to know that SurfRider is now Westin. I love how you have alternate plans. That is all a part of the adventures of travel. Glad you show folks do not have to get a rental car while in Waikiki. Good to know about the Pupu House. Yay Amanda and Felix...Mr. and Mrs. Now. ABC has a great catalogue so you can buy best priced freshwater pearls for gifts, sarongs, local soaps, clothes, etc. I tell folks heading to Waikiki to grab food at least once a day from ABC or 7-11 to eat at the beach.

My wife loves the salad from the ABC store that has chicken and mandarin oranges. We don't usually get a rental car, but if we need a car we use Hui carshare. Very convenient in Waikiki.
Perhaps explain pupu's Loved the old international marketplace. Don't recall so much food at the ABC store. In some states the ABC store means it is a liquor store. Looking forward to more of this trip.😎🏊🌋

I was surprised at how fresh and clean the place smelled... then I noticed the prices... ouch!! 2) Trying Mike's Harder Lemonade products purchased from an ABC Store. I think over a month, I tried all the flavors. lol

I just came back from Hawaii! My first time there and loved it. I stayed at Prince Waikiki, Aulani for a work conference and Outrigger Beachcomber. I actually didn’t like the beachcomber.
Are you here now? I'm here now, but going home t Norcal tomorrow. There is Da Bus that you can catch from the airport that goes down Nimitz to Waikiki. You can get off at Chinatown, Kakaako, Ward, Ala Moana, Waikiki. Hotels are crazy expensive these days. I just made Kalua pork fried rice last Saturday. It's a locals thing.😁 It's what you do wth leftover kalua pork and leftover rice. I also put spam in it too! If you know, you know!😂
Hi Bill and Lisa, never got a chance to go to pupu house. When we were there in September. Will definitely try it next year. You guys will have to go to the Ramen Ezogiku on 2239 Waikolu Way, Honolulu, block away from poke fix. Best price and delicious ramen. Get the shoyu. 😊
What a nice quick visit to Waikiki! You didn't mention, or maybe the hotel didn't promote it as they should, that the original Moana Hotel, which opened in 1901, was the first hotel in Waikiki and is known as "The First Lady (or Grande Dame) of Waikiki." The Surfrider Hotel was added in 1952 and then the larger Surfrider Hotel was built in 1969. There was a $50 million renovation in 1989 to restore the original appearance of the front of the hotel with all the amenities of modern accommodations. (That's one reason it costs so much.) A friend of mine from Japan used to come to Hawai'i every year and stay at the (cheaper) Outrigger nearby and walk over every day to have tea and relax under the historic banyan tree. The Moana is known for the afternoon tea (or "high tea") served on the Veranda Friday-Sunday. There was also a wonderful Mango Festival in the summers before the pandemic, but they haven't reinstated it yet. So you didn't realize it, but you got to stay at a historic landmark where the rich and famous of the world have stayed as well!

600 dollars a night is a bit expensive especially just to sleep....you don't get much for that...The meals should be included for that price..
But honestly for a hotel property right on the beach with all the wonderful amenities, believe me, that’s extremely reasonable.

There was a $50 million renovation in 1989 to restore the original appearance of the front of the hotel with all the amenities of modern accommodations. (That's one reason it costs so much.) A friend of mine from Japan used to come to Hawai'i every year and stay at the (cheaper) Outrigger nearby and walk over every day to have tea and relax under the historic banyan tree. The Moana is known for the afternoon tea (or "high tea") served on the Veranda Friday-Sunday. There was also a wonderful Mango Festival in the summers before the pandemic, but they haven't reinstated it yet. So you didn't realize it, but you got to stay at a historic landmark where the rich and famous of the world have stayed as well!

I stayed at the Surfrider in the 70’s. Back then it was a separate hotel from the Moana. I think it was a Sheraton back then.

We usually use the Hotel Tonight app for domestic travel and booking.com for international (and sometimes domestic too).
