Despite his weakness' I really like Rowlet. His stats fit more my kinda style, and I really like Grass Ghost as an offensive typing. I do agree that Popplio is definitely better for the adventure and I used Popplio first but I enjoy Rowlet more with the team comp. I had in mind.

Also I wanted to include movesets for all three I would use: Primarina: Sparkling Aria, Moonblast, Psychic and Ice Beam (Favourite final form) Incineroar: Darkest Lariat, Brick Break, Outrage, Flare Blitz (Favourite middle form) Decidueye: Leaf Blade, Spirit Shackle, Brave Bird, Roost (good first form but not my favourite because I love all three of their first stages)
Actually Ultra Sun is the second game I played... and I'm a noob because I chose: Sparkling Aria Hydro Pump Dazzling Gleam/Shadow Ball Moonblast Still, how did I kill the totems? (except Ribombee & Kommo'o) With Hydro Vortex (Sparkling Aria) & Oceanic Operetta and a few X Special Attacks... And overleved Primarina... it was level 52 when I got Primarium Z...
Well.. My favorite starter is Litten. That design is fantastic.. I love cats, so I picked "it" without thinking. I'm using Primarina (Moonblast, Sparkling Aria, Psychic, Ice Beam) for rebattling (and levelling) E4 and Decidueye for catching pokemon (Leaf Blade, Spirit ShUckle, False Swipe and Roost). So,.. I'm basically using every starter and I don't regret it.
+Jackson The Noscopers Commenting Channel, nah Litten is still pretty good tbh, Incineroar gets lots of type coverage in the games, and if you're willing to grind enough by fighting chansey and blissey in Poni Wilds, you can get outrage to fight totem Kommo-o. Plus the fact that incineroar also gets double kick which beats nearly every kahuna in the game, being able to defeat olivia and nanu, and being able to do some good against hapu using darkest lariat.
@@nathancallwood1531 statistically speaking rowlet is awful to start with unless you are a badass or grinds for hours and hours before progressing to any point in the game like my lame ass.
If you want a small advantage pick the fire type your cat should already be at final evolution and gets a dark type move and necrozma is weak to dark type moves
one thing to note is that ultra necrozma is a PSYCHIC DRAGON type which puts ALL of the starters at an advantage against it anyway making its battle negligible in the long run so its understandable that they missed it.
I freaking knew rowlett had some disadvantages, unfortunately for me I had a hard time with the game and I almost lost my mind with that fire totem Pokemon, I was not okay 🙃

Not a single time did my Decidueye fail in any battle, NOT EVEN THE TOTEMS PEOPLE “STRUGGLED” with, and its z move is amazing too, even when it’s not going to be a super effective move, the Pokemon I use it in ends up dying a slow death. I don’t understand why people underestimate this badass starter. They probably hate it because either they parroted what other people say, don’t know the true potential of it, or just don’t have a good team for it. I beat all of the totems 1st try without having to go to revive my Pokemon at the Pokemon center, never lost to any battle with Guzma, beat Ultra Necrozma in only 2 tries, and beat Hau by spamming sinister arrow raid and leaf blade. Stop underestimating Decidueye!
After all of the three playthroughs, I've had more fun with Incineroar. Followed by Decidueye then Primarina. Decidueye can be s great mon if you know how to use him and with great timing. Primarina was just too OP, I swept a lot with her which got boring
Think about it this way; only a TRUE champion would pick rowlet. Rowlet is gonna force you to get good at the game, and help you ascend to greater heights

My opinion I hate popplio it doesn’t fit a place in my heart as a favorite it looks pretty ugly and even worst when it evolves that is why litten and rowlet is better...now idc what u say because it is my opinion I would never chose that creature and why is it so freaking overrated...We have charizard who is overrated as hell and I don’t like it...now here comes popplio which is even overrated than the fire breathing lizard and almost nobody focuses on rowlet nor litten but popplio is just trash....If I have to chose between popplio or garbordor I had to lick garbordor instead of popplio....And for the 50th time it is my opinion
I was surprized when i won against giovanni when he swept me with mewtwo, but when i sent out decidueye he beat it down to just one hp and i used shadow arrow raid i ohko-ed it :D i know its not the strongest but i just love its design :P
Looks like I picked the best starter this time around. Glad to know. :3 Still tho, Rowlet is great! It might not be that amazing when it comes to battling, but it's a damn convenient Pokémon to have. It has access to False Swipe pretty early on, and great recovery in Roost later on. And then gets that Ghost type too, making it immune to Normal, Fighting and also trapping. Out of the starters, I'd say it's easily the best SOS chainer.
I chose rowlet. I had some struggles on the fire type one, and dark i lost 2 times in a row, the most are really just great. I’m finally glad to see popplio getting attention as a rowlet fan myself. If you start the game, TRAIN YOUR ROWLET TO 10 BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS IN THE STORY IN THE BEGINNING.
Eh-hem... You guys completely forgot about 1 BIG portion of USUM: Team Rainbow Rocket Decidueye just destroys every single one of the grunts! Immune to ALL Raticates and Persians and Arboks and Golbats aren't doing jack to it that late in the game. Oh, AND they have Primeapes. They ain't gonna do jack!
That's a fair point, but Primarina can hold its own against them as well. With it being able to learn Psychic, and has a STAB Moonblast to counter the Primeapes, the only one it doesn't have the type advantage against are the Raticates and Persians, and those shouldn't be too difficult either. And while there are Electrodes, all you gotta do is use a Poke Doll or two and then you have no reason to worry about them.
I don't think any of the grunts have it, and even if they did they wouldn't do jack to you at that point of the game unless you left your Decidueye EXTREMELY underleveled.
I mean, they are all not THAT good at Ultra-Necrozma. The type combination gives them a benefit but this thing has an omni boost. A fucking OMNI-BOOST. It just destroys them with a neutral hit

Steve Burger Decidueye is the worst out of the three in battle. Its stats aren't well rounded and in the main story of the games it loses to mostly everything.
RhythmicChain same Popplio was easiest for me and Rowlet being second easiest and Litten being Hardest. It was my first actually losing a Pokémon battle since D/P. It was just hard to use all around it really wasn’t that good till you get to move relearner

Personally i feel like this video undersells Rowlet a bit, just as the Sun/Moon video did. TL;DR for lazy people (longer write-up below): No, Rowlet doesn't sweep the game in a blaze of glory (neither do the other Starters, actually) and has its fair share of shortcomings, but it also has a lot of ways to overcome them. Its 'worse' than the other two Starters, but not as much as Chikorita or Snivy were in their respective games. It will not actually hold you back in the slightest, and though you will need to be a bit more strategic, it certainly is not weak. Trials/Kahunas: Sure, it's not great for the normal trial, but the other two starters don't do that much better. (Popplios diarming voice is only a small advantage, IMO) Its actually the best against Hala, since it actually gets STAB and not just coverage. Thanks to an early Flynium Z it wrecks the Water Trial. It can still do well against the Fire trial thanks to Ghost coverage - though it'll need a bit of support, which both other starters also require at points (If Popplio gets points because it gets Coverage, then so should Rowlet... and Litten too, who gets tons of Move Tutor stuff) The Grass trial, again, Flynium Z Olivia's difficult due to Rock weakness, but again, a bit of support should help, and getting Giga drain per Move Tutor isn't too shabby here Togedemaru is the first real Hickup, but at this point you should have something to cover for it if necessary. Its also very possible to have Decidueye here, and Spirit Shackle STAB should do well enough. Mimikyu works Ok-ish, again, with a bit of support (Paralysis) and maybe breaking Disguise lets you potentially oneshot it with Sinister Arrow Raid Nanu .. well, I've got nothing, but nobody said you have to solo the game, no? For Kommo-O you should still have Flying Coverage Options, and Sinister Arrow Raid continues to impress here (both Inci's and Prima's Z-Moves do shit here .. not that it matters for Prima) As for Ribombee, deci only gets hit neutral by both of its stabs, and you should still have Flying Coverage and that neat Flynium Z Hapu... do i even have to say it? Just Giga Drain her to death while laughing maniacally. Da Evulz: Team Skull ... Not actually as bad, Poison types are neutral after evolving, so are Bugs, and I'm not even mentioning the few Psychics that are there. Granted, stuff like Sucker Punch can still be a pain, but a) Deci gets it as well, and b) considering its mostly Coverage, Deci might even survive quite a few of them. Aether Foundation is all over the place, type wise, so why should they be judged diffenertly than any random Trainer? Against which every Starter should do OK? Plumeria's Poison Types are actually neutral, though i guess Golbat and Salazzle can be problematic, but again, we're not acually talking about soloing here Guzma again is mostly neutral, and Deci still gets Flying coverage and Flynium Z which can do a world of difference. The only thing that might be problematic is Golisopod thanks to Sucker Punch and maybe Vikavolt. Faba ... Sucker Punch, this time in favour of Deci. Should take care of Faba. And even without it, Faba's Pokemon can't do much, are weak to Spirit Shackle, and two of them can be Giga drained if needed. Bruxish should be the only thing that is mildly dangerous. Lusamine: Does well against Milotic, even with Ice Beam, and is sorta OK against Lilligant and Pixi. Lopunny might be difficult. No clue about Bewear tbh. All in all not terrible, but not awesome either. Other Bosses Nihilego Bossfight is meh, get something else to deal with it, but again, all three Starters have their shitty moments. Thatoneboss is actually ok, weaken it a bit, and Deci can Sinister Arrow Raid -> Sucker Punch it, while only getting hit neutrally. Elite 4: Actually does well against Olivia, can Sucker Punch most of Acerolas Team (should beat 2, dents the other 3, and Sinister Arrow Raid is still a thing btw) Hits most of Molaynes Team neutrally and might even be able to oneshot Metagross. Bisharp and Dugtrio might be a problem though Kahili is really the only thing it can't at least put some work in (though it might be able to finish stuff off with Sucker Punch if needed) Rivals: Gladio is kinda terrible, ill admit, though Type:Null/Silvally only becomes a problem later on, before that its at least not a bad matchup. Hau: Sucker Punch is your friend, ARaichu should fall to it (and before that, Pikachu doesnt do shit), Starter is no problem, Crabominable falls to Flying coverage, Tauros is meh, but doable. Leaving only Flareon and Noivern as problems. Not much worse here than the other Starters, IMO.
Rowlet: underrated and dislikes Litten: overrated and loved Popplio: very underrated and mildly dislikes even though it's the best starter in the game.

I choose Litten in my Ultra Moon Nuzlocke and he has been one of my best mons next to my Leafeon. (My Leafeon is a monster XD) Almost reached Necrozma and Im terrified. Most of my team can be KO by it....Already have a stragety of Hyper potions, but if it crits then Im dead.
Rei TheCS when I did my ultra sun nuzlocke I just used the toxic Mimikyu strat and any dead Pokémon I didn’t count because Ultra Necrozma is just bad for nuzlockes
Lol teach Primarima Psychic and it will still destroy basically every poison type in the game... it was my only poison counter until Poni Island. Also Primarina’s got a nice Sp Def so it won’t get OHKOd by most poison types anyways

Sofia the Oushi imo decidueye is really bad. I had no troubles with any battle except for lurantis. I got necrozma in about a hit or two, and in online battles got a decidueye out in a single hit with an ice type move. Tbh primarina and popplio are better
I often ended up with water type starters anyway, since the older games had a rival which would pick the grass type, but since wat types have access to ice moves I considered myself advanced over fire and equal to grass. Thanks for the video though. It added quite some things I didn't know.
I think litten b/c it has more ups than sun and moon and is was the best before and I used it and it made the game a lot easier unless you’re including post game but I feel like even if you did litten would still win
I thought it would be litten because all of the changes help litten and I think it has the most advantages and the most diverse move pull of the three which can help with the few disadvantages litten has also hau still has raichu sure poplio does better with kahunas but that’s all it’s better at

I knew Popplio was the best from the start because it got through the entire game. I just wanted to make sure which starter Pokemon was the best. I always use water Pokemon when I play any kind of Pokemon game and I completely get through each game with that Pokemon that I get.
I did pretty well with Rowlet,mostly because I kept in more than 10 levels and gave it quick claw so when in struggles I could get enough attacks before getting my charmander and squirtle to get through most trials

Moose Gaming I mean competitively he was banned with his hidden ability and fake out so he’s the best from that alone😂. That kitty finna end up banned in Sword and Shield too funny enough and the other two might end up in NU which is sad but a lot of S and M Pokémon have terrible stats.

Um.... by the time you reach kiawe's trial, you'll most likely have a water-type. You never take into account the fact that you'll most likely have a Pokemon that can handle any starter's disadvantage.
My opinion is rowlet but i think there all equal and my reasons are because: water beats fire beats grass and grass beats water i believe just choose who you like the best and get your pokemon to max affection its really good for your pokemon
First, great videos, the vids are both informative and funny👍👍👍. Strange coincidence though, I chose Litten in Moon and Poplio in Ultra Sun before I watched both of the Alola videos.
It doesn’t really matter what starter you choose as long as you have a pokemon that can deafeat a pokemon that has an advantage againts your starter pokemon
Now, I won't argue that you guys put a lot of effort into studying the starters, but I had the easiest time playing through this game with Rowlet. I actually had the hardest time with Primarina through the game
I gotta say that its true that going with rowlet is difficult but with a mix and complete team the game becomes way easier with him. I personnally finished the game very easly with him
Strange, it was very easy for me to play through with Rowlet starter. I only had some difficulty with certain type fights on a few occasions. I always made sure I had different type pokemon in my party for fights just in case. ^^ Hau was never an issue for me.
You want to hear a minor annoyance? *I beat the whole game with a Rowlet starter. It requires saving really good moves! (Or using the sweet sweet TMs! Go back to the mall, and get the super strong move Frenzy Plant! It can be really good on the lightning battle!!!!*
Knew made the right choice and was just because design, now to know Incineroar is the best in overall. Atttack, bulk, natural good moves, useful optional habilities and typing with the only minus being speed which can be easy to fix.
This is why Poplio is so Definatly the best. 1. So, cute! 2. If you don't like Poplio you're absolutely crazy. 3. The best choice to sucseed in the game 4. What it says ( Bwark )
Popplio is my favourite Alola Starters because Primarina the final evolve form of Popplio is more as a female mermaid 💧🧜♀️and perfect for female trainers like me💖.

Another thing that makes popplio great for the game is that it can learn psychic and ice beam as primarina , thus eliminating two of its 3 weaknesses

After all of the three playthroughs, I've had more fun with Incineroar. Followed by Decidueye then Primarina. Decidueye can be s great mon if you know how to use him and with great timing. Primarina was just too OP, I swept a lot with her which got boring
Think about it this way; only a TRUE champion would pick rowlet. Rowlet is gonna force you to get good at the game, and help you ascend to greater heights

Still tho, Rowlet is great! It might not be that amazing when it comes to battling, but it's a damn convenient Pokémon to have. It has access to False Swipe pretty early on, and great recovery in Roost later on. And then gets that Ghost type too, making it immune to Normal, Fighting and also trapping. Out of the starters, I'd say it's easily the best SOS chainer.
I chose rowlet.
I had some struggles on the fire type one, and dark i lost 2 times in a row, the most are really just great. I’m finally glad to see popplio getting attention as a rowlet fan myself. If you start the game, TRAIN YOUR ROWLET TO 10 BEFORE ANYTHING HAPPENS IN THE STORY IN THE BEGINNING.

Decidueye just destroys every single one of the grunts! Immune to ALL Raticates and Persians and Arboks and Golbats aren't doing jack to it that late in the game. Oh, AND they have Primeapes. They ain't gonna do jack!

That's a fair point, but Primarina can hold its own against them as well. With it being able to learn Psychic, and has a STAB Moonblast to counter the Primeapes, the only one it doesn't have the type advantage against are the Raticates and Persians, and those shouldn't be too difficult either.
And while there are Electrodes, all you gotta do is use a Poke Doll or two and then you have no reason to worry about them.
I don't think any of the grunts have it, and even if they did they wouldn't do jack to you at that point of the game unless you left your Decidueye EXTREMELY underleveled.

Steve Burger Decidueye is the worst out of the three in battle. Its stats aren't well rounded and in the main story of the games it loses to mostly everything.

RhythmicChain same Popplio was easiest for me and Rowlet being second easiest and Litten being Hardest. It was my first actually losing a Pokémon battle since D/P. It was just hard to use all around it really wasn’t that good till you get to move relearner

Personally i feel like this video undersells Rowlet a bit, just as the Sun/Moon video did.
TL;DR for lazy people (longer write-up below): No, Rowlet doesn't sweep the game in a blaze of glory (neither do the other Starters, actually) and has its fair share of shortcomings, but it also has a lot of ways to overcome them.
Its 'worse' than the other two Starters, but not as much as Chikorita or Snivy were in their respective games. It will not actually hold you back in the slightest, and though you will need to be a bit more strategic, it certainly is not weak.
Trials/Kahunas:
Sure, it's not great for the normal trial, but the other two starters don't do that much better. (Popplios diarming voice is only a small advantage, IMO)
Its actually the best against Hala, since it actually gets STAB and not just coverage.
Thanks to an early Flynium Z it wrecks the Water Trial.
It can still do well against the Fire trial thanks to Ghost coverage - though it'll need a bit of support, which both other starters also require at points (If Popplio gets points because it gets Coverage, then so should Rowlet... and Litten too, who gets tons of Move Tutor stuff)
The Grass trial, again, Flynium Z
Olivia's difficult due to Rock weakness, but again, a bit of support should help, and getting Giga drain per Move Tutor isn't too shabby here
Togedemaru is the first real Hickup, but at this point you should have something to cover for it if necessary. Its also very possible to have Decidueye here, and Spirit Shackle STAB should do well enough.
Mimikyu works Ok-ish, again, with a bit of support (Paralysis) and maybe breaking Disguise lets you potentially oneshot it with Sinister Arrow Raid
Nanu .. well, I've got nothing, but nobody said you have to solo the game, no?
For Kommo-O you should still have Flying Coverage Options, and Sinister Arrow Raid continues to impress here (both Inci's and Prima's Z-Moves do shit here .. not that it matters for Prima)
As for Ribombee, deci only gets hit neutral by both of its stabs, and you should still have Flying Coverage and that neat Flynium Z
Hapu... do i even have to say it? Just Giga Drain her to death while laughing maniacally.
Da Evulz:
Team Skull ... Not actually as bad, Poison types are neutral after evolving, so are Bugs, and I'm not even mentioning the few Psychics that are there. Granted, stuff like Sucker Punch can still be a pain, but a) Deci gets it as well, and b) considering its mostly Coverage, Deci might even survive quite a few of them.
Aether Foundation is all over the place, type wise, so why should they be judged diffenertly than any random Trainer? Against which every Starter should do OK?
Plumeria's Poison Types are actually neutral, though i guess Golbat and Salazzle can be problematic, but again, we're not acually talking about soloing here
Guzma again is mostly neutral, and Deci still gets Flying coverage and Flynium Z which can do a world of difference. The only thing that might be problematic is Golisopod thanks to Sucker Punch and maybe Vikavolt.
Faba ... Sucker Punch, this time in favour of Deci. Should take care of Faba. And even without it, Faba's Pokemon can't do much, are weak to Spirit Shackle, and two of them can be Giga drained if needed. Bruxish should be the only thing that is mildly dangerous.
Lusamine: Does well against Milotic, even with Ice Beam, and is sorta OK against Lilligant and Pixi. Lopunny might be difficult. No clue about Bewear tbh. All in all not terrible, but not awesome either.
Other Bosses
Nihilego Bossfight is meh, get something else to deal with it, but again, all three Starters have their shitty moments.
Thatoneboss is actually ok, weaken it a bit, and Deci can Sinister Arrow Raid -> Sucker Punch it, while only getting hit neutrally.
Elite 4:
Actually does well against Olivia, can Sucker Punch most of Acerolas Team (should beat 2, dents the other 3, and Sinister Arrow Raid is still a thing btw)
Hits most of Molaynes Team neutrally and might even be able to oneshot Metagross. Bisharp and Dugtrio might be a problem though
Kahili is really the only thing it can't at least put some work in (though it might be able to finish stuff off with Sucker Punch if needed)
Rivals:
Gladio is kinda terrible, ill admit, though Type:Null/Silvally only becomes a problem later on, before that its at least not a bad matchup.
Hau: Sucker Punch is your friend, ARaichu should fall to it (and before that, Pikachu doesnt do shit), Starter is no problem, Crabominable falls to Flying coverage, Tauros is meh, but doable. Leaving only Flareon and Noivern as problems. Not much worse here than the other Starters, IMO.
Rowlet: underrated and dislikes
Litten: overrated and loved
Popplio: very underrated and mildly dislikes even though it's the best starter in the game.

I choose Litten in my Ultra Moon Nuzlocke and he has been one of my best mons next to my Leafeon. (My Leafeon is a monster XD)
Almost reached Necrozma and Im terrified. Most of my team can be KO by it....Already have a stragety of Hyper potions, but if it crits then Im dead.
Rei TheCS when I did my ultra sun nuzlocke I just used the toxic Mimikyu strat and any dead Pokémon I didn’t count because Ultra Necrozma is just bad for nuzlockes

I chose rowlet as my starter, ignoring what people have to say about it. I didn’t care if I was going to struggle or not, but I ended up having no struggles. Not a single time did my Decidueye fail in any battle, NOT EVEN THE TOTEMS PEOPLE “STRUGGLED” with, and its z move is amazing too, even when it’s not going to be a super effective move, the Pokemon I use it in ends up dying a slow death. I don’t understand why people underestimate this badass starter. They probably hate it because either they parroted what other people say, don’t know the true potential of it, or just don’t have a good team for it. I beat all of the totems 1st try without having to go to revive my Pokemon at the Pokemon center, never lost to any battle with Guzma, beat Ultra Necrozma in only 2 tries, and beat Hau by spamming sinister arrow raid and leaf blade. Stop underestimating Decidueye!
Sofia the Oushi imo decidueye is really bad. I had no troubles with any battle except for lurantis. I got necrozma in about a hit or two, and in online battles got a decidueye out in a single hit with an ice type move. Tbh primarina and popplio are better
I often ended up with water type starters anyway, since the older games had a rival which would pick the grass type, but since wat types have access to ice moves I considered myself advanced over fire and equal to grass.

I knew Popplio was the best from the start because it got through the entire game. I just wanted to make sure which starter Pokemon was the best. I always use water Pokemon when I play any kind of Pokemon game and I completely get through each game with that Pokemon that I get.

I did pretty well with Rowlet,mostly because I kept in more than 10 levels and gave it quick claw so when in struggles I could get enough attacks before getting my charmander and squirtle to get through most trials
At the end of the first island rowlet can use two z moves. The first is normaliamZ the second is Flyuiam Z (You need a tauros to get that)

Strange, it was very easy for me to play through with Rowlet starter. I only had some difficulty with certain type fights on a few occasions. I always made sure I had different type pokemon in my party for fights just in case. ^^ Hau was never an issue for me.

Popplio is my favourite Alola Starters because Primarina the final evolve form of Popplio is more as a female mermaid 💧🧜♀️and perfect for female trainers like me💖.
I also personally really like Popplio! It was always the one that I liked the best, and I was not disappointed.
