@@GarageItYourself apparently you forgotten which is the front of the car. They’re most certainly is a front seal next to the flywheel! There is no rear seal at the crank pulley! There’s a difference between the front and the back of the car. Lol
@@davidwest2773 what are you talking about ? there is a front and rear engine seal man! look at my channel I think i know volkwagens and if they have a seal or not
I love that exhaust, sounds great, good job with patients and not damaging the studs , great job DAD with the ratchet straps I use them for everything even building the patio good second hand when working alone.
Sounds good! Any perfromance advantages? Although its a smaller muffler, it sounds like it revs faster. You've openned up a can of worms, now you have to get the performance to match teh sound, lol! Like the other guys said, add an allternator, 009 or (019 Porsche) distributor.
The bug videos are easily my favorite, from the sounds of it the valves need be adjusted and the fan sounds like it is hitting the shroud a bit. Also, an alternator kit is the first upgrade I would do besides lift spindles and disk break conversion. I have four baja bugs but I havent got a class 11 yet. Watching yours makes me really wanna pull the trigger on one.
I'll have to take a look at the valves, checked them probably 1000 miles ago. What is the advantages of going to an alternator over a generator? Im curious if I was going to that if it would be worth it to just go all 12v
@@WingsWorldChannel Oh yeah, I completely forgot you are running an earlier bug so its a 6v system. In that case, it really comes down to what you plan to do with the bug. It wouldn't be hard to tax the existing system with lights, sound system, etc. The stock system will handle a simple stereo and some lights decently, but an alternator upgrade and 12v conversion is ideal if you plan to do much more. The biggest benefit for an alternator is the higher amperage produced, and it actually takes a bit less energy to kick over, the wiring becomes much simpler too if you use one with an internal voltage regulator. Also, I believe when you go to a 12v system that they use a different flywheel and starter.
i was thinking the same thing. the valves need to be adjusted. i could never stand that chirp on my Vw's. i always readjusted the valves so that it wouldn't chirp.
I've got that same impact, it pulls the lugnuts off my Silverado at 140ft/lbs with no problem. Exhaust sounds good man, I wish I had UEL on mine, I like that rumble.
Looks like its coming along great. I noticed you seem to be missing the rubber seal that goes around the engine tin. Being that its gonna be getting warmer soon you mite want to look into it. It keeps the heat from the exhaust and muffler from rising up and cooking the engine. I just put a new one in on my bug. Also Alternator upgrade is a fantastic idea. I agree with others on the valve adjustment. Super easy to do and plenty of DIY tutorials on TH-cam and samba for that.
back around 2003 I built a 59 and lifted it to look like a class 11. For sure coolest car I ever owned. Had it on BFG all Terrains and Fox bypass Nitro shocks. Had Bear down in Chula Vista build a solid 1641 for it, and used to love ripping around in it. I miss that car!! Got a lowered 62 now and it is definitely a different experience, I hate Speed bumps!!
Nice sounding Bug! I just picked up a '63 in derelict condition. I hope to show the resto process on TH-cam someday. By the way, WD-40 really isn't a good penetrating oil. Try PB Blaster or Kroil. They work great!
You remind me of myself installing a glass pack (not quiet pac) header, on my '64 bug back in 1976. Bought it from JC Whitney catalog. Those were the days!! A little HP boost, but the sound...!!! Make sure all holes are plugged in all tins as the fan will suck the exhaust heat into cooling air. Purchase a repair manual and an original owners manual from the Samba VW website. Some advice. Keep that carb and dizzy. Leave it 6v. That car is going up in value! I have a 64 again. All stock. Cheers!
Good videos. One thing to try though, if a bolt or nut gets tight when taking off, tighten back up a little and work it back and forth in and out. Hope it helps.
I got the Empi version of that exhaust on my 65 Bug. You did a great job, in both installation, and in video editing. It’s good to know I’m not the only who’s struggled with fitting an exhaust! lol By the way, what type and size are your rear tires, and where’d you find them? I enjoy taking my Bug out to the desert and following trails. I’ve been wanting tires like that.
did you get any power and torque gains with this exhaust? when you pull hills with it? i got a 65 bug stock 1200 when i pull hills i have to downshift the 68 bug i had i had an empi header on which worked best i didn't have to downshift pulling a slight grade left it in 4th gear. im not sure on the vintage speed exhausts out there. its the stock muffler that saps power when u need it most.
Looks like you're using jack stands on dirt. I suggest putting 2x10 boards around a couple of feet long under them to help prevent one side from sinking and dropping the car on you. I have a gravel driveway and have to do this all the time.
Just now saw your video Love the sound I went to your link can't find that 85 dollar deal when you get a chance where directly its at,thanks, what is the exact name of that muffler
Nice video dude 👍 Just to let ya know that wheel bolts are only 63lbft. Just so you don't get galling problems from the higher torque you've been using 😉
Good Job on the bug! Nice Video too, yo. I'm still contemplating which way i wanna go on my bug's exhaust. right now it has a generic single "quiet pack" and its "AIGHT", it's definitely better, breath-wise, than stock... my bug build is on long-term hold cause I've been messing with my(daily driver) 1989 VW fox. DiD somebody say.... Cherrybomb? My neighbors are gonna love me.
I've been watching your videos and reading comments and still no luck...what size tires are you running? And possibly brand if you will share that! Absolutely love your ride!

i'd suggest pulling the motor and replacing the front and rear engine seals. looks like they are mostly gone.
No front seal. Uses an oil slinger and reverse spiral groove on the pulley snout.
No front seal unless some cut in a sand seal.
Volkswagen does not have a rear seal!
