  • Got Jerry all set up with a new breather setup! Super pumped with how it turned out, has a lot more air flow than the old setup!

    if oil is coming up the filler neck, I would first check to see if the deflector plate below the alternator stand is (properly) installed….
    When I bought my beetle, many things were missing including the deflector plate. No issues once installed!

    Nice job bro I recommend replacing the Empi sponge with green dish washing pad (Old School baja Racing secret) the Empi sponge clogs up and stops breathing again

      Could you tell us exactly what kind of green dishwashing pad? I would appreciate it.

      @@bajalarry8738 Thank u bro! your info is really appreciated!! so, the "Industrial Strength" ones are just too porous? What happens if I use those ones? It´ll not work properly either?. Anyway, I'll get the ones you said. But wait, those ones are a bit thin, Do I have to stock them inside the breather? or just one inside is enough?

      @@bajalarry8738 How long would you say they can last with normal use in a not racing VW? I think the EMPI breather has a metal mesh on its own, I guess I could use it the same way u use yours.

      Right. I never had a problem with the stock setup. It was designed that way for a reason.

    Bug looks rad on the all terrains. I had a 59 a long time ago on those with a new 1641, recarros, and an alpine lol! I was so happy with that car but ended up rolling it years later when I moved to Hawaii. Hung on to a 66 for a while after. Now rolling a slammed 62, but miss the class 11 look

    It’s a nice job - but it’s not doing its job correctly.
    You will still have crankcase pressure.
    The idea is for the intake to draw the fumes/pressure (blow-by) out of the block while letting the oil drain back down the tube to the block.
    Venting the covers won’t help as it vents through the push rod tubes anyway.
    If you want an effective system - go back to stock - if you want to make it cleaner than stock - fit an in-line catch can to the stock breather tube - but make it a CLOSED circuit, no silly little filters
    But make sure if you do this that you check the oil level inside the can and empty accordingly.
    These empi kits are not doing your engine any good and is very over kill.
    I’m not knocking your work - but I am knocking the system. 👍

    Did it fix the issue? I would be surprised as your issue is more likely to be either a cooling issue or a timing issue. Crank case pressure is only really an issue on very highly tuned engines and results in oil leaks rather than stalling and rough idling.

    Great info but you really need to invest in some flood lights. It just makes it v hard to see in the dark.

  • @williemickbillie
    @williemickbillie 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It’s a Crankcase breather not an oil breather. It’s for crankcase pressure nothing to do with oil, it just happens to have oil in the air

  • @campervanbug7658
    @campervanbug7658 ปีที่แล้ว

    Timing and fuel mixture, a build up of oil pressure will make a funny seal sounds like the animal, it's the crank case pressure excaping past you seals, bug farts😐
