It's been a long dark dirty road
And pocket full of gold
I've been out here now
All on my own
It's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except
In 1955, born into Wadena's pride
I laid my head on that
Milligan creek bed
When I was a young man
I helped build this land
Oh, I put down these rails as a
CPR man
Thought I'd live forever
With my heart in my pocket
Oh, my gun by my side
And my feelings in a locket
Well, that was a cold year in '77
But I married my wife
We had two kids
I gave her a daughter
She gave me a son
And we rode those damn horses 'til we had none
Fist still like flyin'
Doing things for dyin'
Oh, I should have put that old gun away
Well I, I am a broken Cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken Cowboy
Livin' life in the fast lane
Racing cars and robbing trains
I thought I had it all
Then one day, I got the call
A father's worst dream
My son went down and I
The colours deceive me
As I see grey
Oh, you're cutting me down with those
Cold words you're saying
Then you called me, brother
But this can't be so, 'cause you
Slander my name, anywhere the wind will blow
Well, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Yes, I am a broken cowboy
It's been a long dark dirty road
But a pocket full of gold
And I've been out here now
All on my own
Well, it's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except that old taunting tree

Probably the best no fakery added music there is today. Truly a great band whose sound will live forever.
This song is absolutely fantastic. Gives me chills.
I'm 17 and I like all sorts of music but country/ the dead south at the moment just can't beat. You guys are so underated
hello !
Je suis français. Je découvre ce groupe. J'adore. C'est juste sublime. Cà dégage plein d'émotion.
Perfect music. I could listen to them every day for the rest of my life. Which is probably gonna happen.
Nose como he soportado estos 25 años de mi vida sin escuchar este grupo
Listen to Lost Dog Street Band playing September Doves. While listening to this band I came to find LDSB. Their sound is amazing too!
I still can't stop watching. Poetry, music, performance. Just about perfect.
As I am arrived in Texas, I fall in love with dead south. I know they are Canadians.
It's been a long, dark, dirty road
But a pocket full of gold
And I've been out here now
All on my own
Well it's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except
Well, in 1955, born into Wadena's pride
I laid my head on that
Milligan creek bed
When I was a young man
I helped build this land
Oh I, put down these rails as a
CPR man
Thought I'd live forever
With my heart in my pocket
Oh, my gun by my side
And my feelings in a locket
Well, that was a cold year in '77
But I married my wife
We had 2 kids
I gave her a daughter
She gave me a son
And oh, we rode those damn horses until we had none
Fists still like flyin'
Doing things for dyin'
Oh, I should have put that old gun away
But I, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Livin' life in the fast lane
Racing cars and robbing trains
I thought I had it all
Then one day I got the call
A father's worst dream
My son went down and I
The colors deceive me
As I see grey
Oh, you're cutting me down with those
Cold words you're saying
Then you called me brother
But this can't be so cause you
Slander my name anywhere the wind will blow, oh
But I, I am a broken cowboy
And I don't feel right no more
'Cause I am a broken cowboy
Yes, I am a broken cowboy
It's been a long dark dirty road
But a pocket full of gold
And I've been out here now
All on my own
Well it's real quiet here
Just the way I like it here
There's no one to bother me
Except that old taunting tree
Im in love
Thanks for the lyrics 😎. Prec🤯

I just can't stop listening. This is now what I wake up.
11 million views and still half of them are mine - could the other half give a thumbs up?
Gave a thumbs down cause you asked. Cheers
Gawd I love these guys....Keep playin' my lonely Cowboys.
The Dead South are so very talented! Keep going guys! Bring us some more!
Who is giving this song a thumbs down!? Amazing live performance.
My deceased English brother always loved American country & western, so he would have loved this, a mix of bluegrass and folk, particularly also as it's a Canadian band. Thanks guys, you have two more fans in my brother and me!
Sorry for your loss. Music heals the soul eh
These boys is the best live show you'll ever see!!! God I love these guys
I've been listening to them for years on here, the music (and a lot of the funky videos) are marvelous...
Been following these guys for the last 2 years, incredible heart felt music from the sole, he puts everything into it when he sings, they really came together this last year.
I ran across The Dead South by accident. Now I am hooked. This is my style of music
If you love them like I do...check out trampled by turtles, weary boys, Lucero especially...I can give other examples...good music is not dead
Mega goście, mega teksty, mega styl ,mega wszystko, mega mój szacun ,mega błogość, mega chwile ,mega wdzięczność za to że są ❤
