To anyone complaining saying he's playing the banjo the wrong way, Jimi Hendrix played guitar the wrong way. He didn't know scales or chord progressions, he just knew what sounded good. Long as it sounds good, there IS no wrong way. Just play what your mind and heart and talent call for. This guy playing that 5-string with a guitar pick is actually pure genius. I am a banjo player myself and I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.
Spyder Webb From what I can tell, he's definitely got it tuned a key lower than what it normally would be. The truncated G string I don't see him plucking any so that string is out of the playing, so the main four strings are what he is using. The longer G string is definitely tuned to a lower key and the rest are the same. It shows this guy is a genius when it comes to tweaking it to just what he wants and needs. It also shows he has spent a lot of time tinkering and figuring out those tweaks and derivations from the normal. He is incredibly talented with that 'jo and it would be very interesting to just sit down and have him show me a thing or two. His skill level is MUCH above mine.

There is something about the one guy riding in on the lawnmower for the intro that seems especially appropriate: the tone of the running engine and sound of the engine cut-off perfectly fit the video/song, sonically.
I live in the country and it’s an everyday sight to see someone driving a lawnmower down the road, mainly the ones with multiple DWIs. Also it’s an Amish area so buggies and tractors. Great place to live.

Have been a musician for over 50yrs. What these fellows produce, and their interpretation of tunes is exactly the reason and meaning as to why someone would ever consider picking an instrument up in the first place! Has less to do with musicianship than it has to do with personal dedication and determination. In my day, I might have been able to keep the riff alive throughout the song that the banjo player nailed completely, and I tip my hat to him and his fellows cuz I know I couldn't keep up today. Excellent job, and thanks to you all!!

I know someone says this in every video ever made, but for the first time I honestly can't understand how anyone would give this group a thumbs down on any song they have out. That is talent. Perhaps you don't care for that style of music, but no one can question talent and skill, and it should be respected. That's like a vegan going to a steak house and giving it a bad review because they had meat on the menu.

Everything about this video was perfect. The entrance, the rudimentary instruments not necessarily being played "correctly", the prefect vocal harmony, the microphone wrapped with a ...sponge(?), and the fact they knocked it out of the park in ONE TAKE.
