      Warren was behind the camera and I think he put his finger over the corner of the lens. I released the bass so I just went with it lol. How you doing?

    Hey Alan. I was born and raised in Greenhaven in Sacramento and I have many great memories of catching striper almost every time I would go fishing and even if the bigger class fish weren't biting we would have the shakers stealing bait . Ill still fish my spots in the pocket and not even a single bite at times . I do fish the tides . I would estimate this changed in the last 5 to 6 years . Id love an educated opinon .Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge

      Alan, where can you launch in Sac to access the river? I hear all the ramps are shut down?

    • @azevedoplumbing

      @averystewart1885 Garcia Bend is closed and has been for 2 years it feels like . I was told it will open this spring . You can also launch on the yolo side but that ramp is super steep

    • @AlanFong

      I was born and raised here in Sac too. I live about mile from Garcia bend and was fishing bait for stripers all my life lol. I did a video last year on bait fishing at Garcia Bend n you can go back and watch it. This spring should be really good with all this water, and everything is later this year too. If your bank fishing try the Yolo side right below Stans Marina

    • @AlanFong

      All ramps are closed right now. You can launch at Merritt Island if you have a smaller boat. The river has been going up and down so be careful.

    I have something to say Alan.
    I’ve wanted to fish with the best once I thought I was the best.
    You produce fish all over the place.
    I have never tried ocean fishing beyond just outside the golden gate…. Tamales Bay a few times to the first Bowie N a 18foot rental.
    That day I was more than scared.
    Dumb Aszzs tried anchoring N the mouth of tamales opening soon as the anchor stuck the boat started going under. If he had shut the motor off Shark Bait, hahaha N.
    One day I was exploring the flats.
    Lots of leopard sharks inside the eelgrass N 3 to 5 feet… Biggest I’ve ever hooked up on.
    The bat rays will get you if you’re on your A game.
    Thick Sharks…Witch reminds me…one had babies N the boat. About 12 inches long… supper clean little things.
    I took some home for my brother’s fish tank…100 gallon or more.
    And I’ll tell you more N More after the lower is installed.
    Fish On Fong!

    Thanks for the report, has us excited to be there this weekend. We usually soak anchovies at Webb point. Going to try Luhr- Jensen bait heads for the first time. Do you have any pointers for us?

    • @AlanFong

      I take the tray anchovies and firm them up with pro cure bait cure. Pin it in w free wheeling hooks and three way with 10" dropper weight with a 36" leaader.

    Nice bass Alan! I think i missed how you got them, saw something about reaction baits in the comments but wasn’t sure. Probably get them on most anything right now huh?!

    • @AlanFong

      Senkos are working the best up tight in tulies. Bigger bass on chatterbaits as there still a little off shore in weeds. Stay in spawning areas 1-6 ft water

    Hi Alan. I’ve been fishing the Delta for a week straight and couldn’t catch anything between Honker Bay to Rio Vista and Middle River. I’m going to try the Yo Zuri you recommended. My question is if it’s high tide in Suisun Bay when is it high tide in the Delta? Is there a 30 minute or hour delay for high tide to hit the Delta?

    • @AlanFong

      I use the tide app on my phone called Tide Graph and it gives you the tides in different areas. From the bay going into the delta the further north you go the later the tide is that day. This time of the year the stripers are on the move heading north for the spawn. I've found they will usually stay in an area for a few days before moving on depending on the food. I've alway had better luck on a high tide or outgoing tide as they seem to feed better in the moving water on shallow flat sand bars in 5-10ft water. I use the shallow running yozuri with a white trick worm on back hook. Troll about 3-4 mph depending which way your going up or down stream

    Hey Alan, thanks for all the good info! I went trolling for Striper on 4/2 using shallow diving predators with worms. We trolled around 3/4 MPH all along 3 mile slough, potato slough, and the San Joaquin and didn’t get any hookups. Any suggestions? I’m hoping to try again this weekend.

    • @AlanFong

      The stripers are on the move heading north. They will usually stay and feed in an area for a few days n move on. It was good last week from Three Mile Slough on San Jaoquin river side to Eddos. West bank has also been good for trollers.

  • @roberts735

    Hey Alan, I’m new to fishing stripers and the delta. Have only one trip under my belt. I’d like to get out there this weekend and troll for stripers primarily on the San Joaquin. With the little amount of rain I’m hoping there will still be spots with water clarity. My main concern is the wind. I’m in a 15’ Alumacraft side console. What are your thoughts?

    • @AlanFong

      I was there last week and did pretty good. The Sac river came up and was a little dirty the other day. You should be able to find decent water on the San Joaquin side. I was trolling shallow yozuris with white cut tail worm in 8-10 ft water.

    • @AlanFong

      You can launch at B&W and fish the Mokulume and out to the San Joaquin river

      No idea, I live by Garcia Bend and it doesn't look like their going to open it any time soon, still lots equipment in the parking lot. With all the snow pack in the mountains it looks like the Sac river will be really high for awhile.

    What do you think would be good for this Saturday? Was thinking of good ol rio vista as always. Usually do live mudsuckers on drift. But I was thinking of tossing glides this time. I know ppl have luck with jerkbaits but I suck at them

    • @AlanFong

      I was down there by Rio Vista n north and the river got a little dirty. Looks like they released water and lots trash coming down stream. So bait fishing would be lot better. If you want to troll try the San Joaquin side by Eddo's been good there.

    40 bass damn I can't get but lol chatter baits or what am I missing

    • @AlanFong

      Mostly senkos as these bass are feeding to get ready for the spawn and the chatterbaits are catching the bass that are still a little offshore waiting to move up.

    What up Alan, where is a good spot to troll for striper in sac river? I m new to trolling.

    • @AlanFong

      The Sac river got dirty again as I think their releasing water. I would try on the San Joaquin river side from Three Mile Slough to Antioch Bridge. I was down there last week trolling shallow running Yozuri plug with a trick worm on the back. Troll in 8-10 ft with 100-130 ft set back

    • @AlanFong

      Think the water it to stained for trolling in the Sac river around here. They keep releasing water as all the lakes are pretty much full and their is so much snow up n our mountains. The San Joaquin and Mokulume rivers are clearer and are holding stripers now.

    Striper question:
    1. Do you know anything about Striper going up the Alviso Slough in the South Bay?
    a) When do they head up there in the Spring? And Fall?
    b) I tried fall there on a Kayak 4 years ago but never got anything on a chartreuse swimbait

    • @AlanFong

      Sorry I don't know but if in the south bay and it's backish water I think it would be in June or July.

    What is considered reaction baits

    • @AlanFong

      I use lucky craft or megabass jerk baits. Reaction baits are lures that you cast and retrieve.
