Great Stuff as always. Berryessa requires anglers to do everything right when trolling. Some get scratch…some pickup a few…and some have more opportunities than others. It’s a great fishery just coming into its own. The Eagle Lake strain bows will grow much bigger and faster! Expect 4-6# plus fish soon…and bigger in the years to come.
Man…Alan you kill it. I went to Folsom on Sunday in search of the landlocked kings. I fished the evening and couldn’t find them anywhere. New boat, new to fishing Folsom. Gonna have to look back at all your prior videos and see if you have anything on finding them at Folsom. I’ve watched tons on your tactics, but tactics don’t work when you can’t find em.
It’s crazy how I can catch trout and Kokanee up at my local lakes, stumpy meadows, union valley, hell hole and loon. But ever since I got this new boat and started fishing new waters I’m lost as all can be. Gotta put in the time and pay my dues!
If you troll by the spillway or dam on any of our local lakes you should find the kings. I was at Folsom couple days ago and we hooked ten by 12:30pm. Trolling an 8" white dodger with a 2.5" pearl hoochie tipped with a piece of anchovy, trolling at 2.2 to 2.5 mph. If you have a new boat and haven't been doing to good I would check for a HOT Boat. Go back and look as I did a video on how to check your boat. You should be at about .5 a half volt off the cable.
I visited Berryessa this last weekend with my daughter. Beautiful weather, but we really struggled to find trout. Mostly fished speedy shiners at various depths (surface to 20ft). No fish. Covered a lot of water but we must have been in the wrong area or wrong time. We switched to targeting bass and did well.
They hang around in certain areas in the lake. If you can find the birds usually the trout won't be to far away as they feed on the shad too. Speed is the factor in getting strikes as you should be going 3.5 to 5 mph trolling the speedy shinner or optimizers.
Im gonna go fishin for stripers I havnt gotten skunked since Ive been wearin your AFO gear were gonna try San Joaquin/old river area of the Delta hope my AFO gear keeps bringin me luck!
A lot of stripers have moved into the Mokulume River chasing the smolts being planted. Stripers seem to be everywhere in our river systems now. Good Luck!
I fished for about two hours on low tide….it wet went out a good ways today. Two green bass one came unbutton at the dock N front of me 3.lbs second one easy 2. I had to work that lire…. I’m mean lure. HahahaN. I have been getting bit on a small jerk bait. Tipping the weeds. On the pause was the ticket. Long cast, the water is brown but clear visibility.
The Crappie bite is on fire. Fish around fallen trees and in the backs of coves near the flags. Anywjere from 4ft to 20ft near structures. Caught limits this week in the late afternoon to sunset in the narrows.
So where did you see that the bottom fishing is open out 300". Southern ca.? Most of us have not seen ANYTHING signed on the opening by the lawyers and waiting. I have heard some people are fishing ot past the 300 mark due to it being in federal waters, HOWEVER the fish are being landed in the state where it is closed. Have not heard of any tickets yet. We are all chomping at the bit from Bodega north for them to sign. Any information regarding this would be great.
I keep hearing there talking about some open areas from anglers and I know DFW hasn't announced anything yet. With all the rules and regulations now days it's like their trying to frustrate anglers.
Bass in the delta learned that everyday of their lives the tides go up and down twice a day. I've learned how they use it to their advantage to catch prey easier. Different times of the year I've found that they use the tides differently to feed. I'll be doing a video on this topic soon.
I fished with couple friends who belong to the port and Warren placed 5th and Dave placed 8th lol Next year I'll be fishing the derby with Rick Tietz and Roger Hanney both port members!
Been fishing AR for stripers an hour at a time 2-3 times a week scouting for the run, but still havent seen any. What is the earliest stripers have gone up the AR for the spawn?
With all this high water it will probably be late. There are lots of stripes that live in the AR all year around. Most of the stripers will go up the Feather and Sac rivers to spawn.

Is it true that CDFW no longer plants Berryessa with Eagle Lake Trout?
I know it's good if your going two to three time a week lol
As a California resident, I appreciate your work. I live in So Cal, but any fishing is good fishing.
Thanks 👍
Great report, thank you 👍🏼
Glad you enjoyed it n hope it helps

@@AlanFong Just heard that they have finally signed off on the law and currently open outside the 300" line
I would check the DFW web site to make sure.
Can you explain what "when the tides are right..." for those of us (me) who don't know what the "right" tides are? Thank you appreciate your reorts

Any word on the American Shad run?
With all the water this year it will probably be a little late. I'm thinking in about two to three weeks should start seeing them
Going for stripers next week..Thanks
Lots stripers in the system now best get out soon
Who let you into the striper derby to get 2nd place?
I know one thing for sure we’re going to be raffling off tickets next time to be in your boat.
I fished with couple friends who belong to the port and Warren placed 5th and Dave placed 8th lol Next year I'll be fishing the derby with Rick Tietz and Roger Hanney both port members!

I don't think so! lol
