    I noticed this a while back but it's been really noticeable in these final interviews where we see it back to back, but Conan is so beloved by his comedy peers and upcoming comedians for how he allows their creativity to flourish. So, it was really cool hearing Martin say it too. He puts on an act of being anything but, but Conan's humility in knowing that has always been something I truly admire about him. This comment was probably unnecessary but uh yeah, great dude.

    • @MiguelBaptista1981
      @MiguelBaptista1981 3 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      I came to grow a great deal of respect for Jay on his car channel. He surely has a deep love and respect for that world, and the people in it.
      As happens with many groups of people I admire, bad management had the major blame.
      Maybe Conan wouldn't accept the job, but until the situations were reversed, and with every staff of Conan dependent of that job, It's not as black and white situation as to Jay being the bad guy in that story, no matter how many celebrities were trying to look good by standing with the "victim" against the mob-proclaimed-oppressor.

    • @rsk47reviews59
      @rsk47reviews59 3 ปีที่แล้ว +56

      @@MiguelBaptista1981 that car show is clearly a fluff piece to repair Leno's damaged reputation with the people. Yes i agree that not everything is black and white, but the whole NBC-Conan situation WAS black and white. Leno tried to be a messiah by announcing that he is giving the show away to Conan, only to then see a small window of opportunity and completely sabotage Conan's show.

    • @solvseus
      @solvseus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@MiguelBaptista1981 He still could have walked away, like he did later anyway. Something similar happened with Letterman years before, so he should have known better. He's not a horrible person, I don't hate him, but he should have bowed out gracefully and he would have been more respected. He deserves the criticism he still receives.

    • @MiguelBaptista1981

      A fluff ?
      Yea. You have no idea what you're talking about.
      You obviously never saw Jay's Garage (that existed before your so called "damaged reputation with people" hahaha ) nor his dedication, deep knowledge, and love for that world, the people in it, from the bottom down mechanics, to the top engineers, not only from the beginning of the XX century, but even from the steam era.
      But none of that matters.
      You're probably as much of a Chin-Man Bad as an Orange-Man Bad kinda person.
      Good luck with life mate.
      You're gonna need it.

      He could. But he would have also left his entire staff without job.
      If the situations were reversed, you have no idea what Conan would do, as he has proven, I think, to be a good boss, the kind that also takes responsibility for his staff.
      As Jay did.

    love the way older dudes tell jokes. I grew up watching these guys in their 30s and 40s, now they are in their 50's and 60's and they are even more funny then before with their legend status allowing them to speak for so long, so candidly hilarious

    That thing with Martin Short and Andrea Martin was cool. SCTV was the best sketch show ever and it had some of the funniest people ever. Short, Martin, John Candy, Eugene Levy, Joe Flaherty, Dave Thomas, Rick Moranis, Catherine O'Hara were all there together. So many funny characters and memorable sketches. That beats SNL by a million miles, especially these days.

      The on air episodes are actually mostly the interviews. The show only has a 30 minute slot so it ends up being a short introduction with a bit or a video of something Conan likes from the past. They post them here too. Your actually not missing anything but the commercials.

    When the man you grew up watching as a kid on SNL also entertains your own kids thru PBS, it really does feel good in the soul. He's a treasure, Martin Short. Conan O'Brien is a bit tougher, since Simpsons is a bit nuanced for an 8, 7, and 4 year old--though the remotes make my oldest laugh.
