We need Jiminy Glick back! This just proves Martin Short was well beyond most people at the time and the time is right to have him back! Martin Short has always been a comedic genius. Love that man!

I don't know. A few cringe moments. When he gets bested by Melissa, he falls relies on sxl innuendos too much and physical comedy to get back the upper hand. He didn't do that with the men he interviewed. I think maybe, taped and edited is the best for Jiminy, live is too risky. 😁
Wow. Melissa is so good, it reminded me of her brilliant portrayal of Sean Spicer on SNL.

Her portrayal of Spicer was one of the best things on SNL. I wish she also could have portrayed him later when he was on Dancing with the Stars - in that neon chartreuse shirt that looked like something Desi Arnaz would have worn singing Babalu!

She's a trained improvisor, so yes, of course she held her own. Improvisation is one of her greatest skills.

Leave it to Melissa to give improv sass right back to Jiminy. I was hoping someone would do it instead of just laughing at everything Marty says, and Melissa delivered as I knew she would. Love her!
She could do that, I don't doubt it, but I'm pretty certain this was rehearsed to some degree and agreed upon in advance (with flexibility and mutual trust for impromptu gags and/or ad lib). I got the sense that she was coming up with responses on the spot, yet it may be testimony to her acting chops, and might not have been as spontaneous as it played. Either way, absolutely fantastic. Near the end a couple times she showed hints of almost breaking, but she is made of titanium and held up amazingly playing straight to his off the charts antics - until it was the perfect time to smile at the end while pulling his tie.
Ice Cube did it in the 90s when he was interviewed by Jiminy as well

@@sparkythancztwise You may be right, although Melissa's background is in improv. I thought I saw a look on her face at the beginning like, 'OK, this is where we're going? I'm here for it. Bring it.' In any case, I laughed a lot.
Several of Jiminy's interviewees made him work for his pay but were very smooth and fun to watch. My favorites: Jerry Seinfeld, Conan O'Brien and, believe it or not, John McEnroe.
Maybe Jimmy Kimmel's show could contract with Martin Short to do Jiminy Glick interviews once a month exclusively for this show.

'I had to adjust the knobs to see if the picture got any better' - I had to pause for a minute or two to regain my composure after that!
That's such a great line, but it bums me out when the audience pushes back against Jiminy's insult humor.

Melissa also may have sent a gentle message when she mentioned that she was surprised there weren’t lawsuits. Martin was on the edge a few times. Someone less a “good sport” might have a very legitimate beef.

I can't think of a single other guest who could keep up with Jiminy Glick the way Melissa McCarthy did. What a great performance.
This was the perfect interview for Glick. She's a doll, she's royalty and she played it perfectly. I'm glad they did this. She's amazing and he's incorrigible. I'm very interested in season 4.
Those two are Comedic Geniuses and equal to each other in wit. What an enjoyable segment.

Melissa was great. So quick witted and might be the only guest that really held her own with Jiminy.

She ruined the fun. You're not supposed to "hold your own" with Jiminy. She was pointlessly combative and stepped on every possible funny moment. She's the same improv archetype as Michael Scott from that episode of The Office. It was sad. It was cringe. It was a swing and a miss. It was a wet fart in white pants.

She's just the female face of forgettable R-rated "comedy" movies with no plot, no jokes, no class, and no point. What an astonishingly forgettable "career". She must know someone. Miss O'Hara, again, on the other hand, a treasure. It's a pure and simple distinction a child could recognize.

He did, on Comedy Central. It was a novelty. It's not something that can be sustained. The bit wears thin after a while. Watch the old episodes on TH-cam because this has already been done.

Wow!!! I can't tell if that was rehearsed or slightly rehearsed with room for improv, but Melissa was amazing with the quick wit! It reminded me of the old comedy days of Late Night TV! Instant Classic! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
From what Marty has said he likes to throw curve balls so it is as unrehearsed as possible
clearly some of it was "talked" about BUT it can go off the rails in a heartbeat both of them hadto hold it in many times and it is hard to get Short to break character but the improved jokes just freakin flew! KUDOS to both! This is pure gold
