No disrespect to the living legend Martin Short, but nobody was faster than Robin Williams. Check out some of his interviews with Craig Ferguson. The man was 50+ and still as sharp as an axe.

Him and Robin Williams should have collaborated more, but maybe it would have been too much for us to handle.
I love Martin short. He is genuinely one of the most underrated comedians of all time! He’s so genuinely happy, sharp, quick, witty, intelligent and zany.

Martin is one of the greatest exports from my city, Hamilton, Ontario Canada. Even though he's lived in California for over 30 years, he still comes "home" all the time to visit his family and support so many local causes. He's never forgotten where he comes from and what made him. He's one of the good ones!

When Martin casually mentions that Gilda Radner had been his girlfriend you get a sense of the pedigree and the company of fellow performers he came from. Truly legendary.

If you can listen to Martin's autobiography on audio, which he reads. Hilarious, touching, and heartbreaking.
Our band played at Andrea Martin's wedding in So Portland in the early eighties and this little dude (Martin Short) gets up on stage and asks us to a play a standard blues shuffle as he sang an impromptu song about Andrea and their group of friends. We didn't know who he was, but he was amazingly talented and funny.
Andrea Martin was married to Bob Dolman - brother of Nancy Dolman, Martin Short's wife. So Andrea Martin was/is a sister in law to Martin Short. That's amazing that you got the gig.
Stephen, I love you bringing on older, classic comedians on the show. They are all genuinely funny while allowing the conversation to flow naturally, without any ego, pretense, or gimmick. It’s great to watch.

What a relief it must be for a talk-show host to see Martin Short on the roster.
I think movies like "Inner Space" or "The Three Amigos" didn't do enough justice to Martin Short, but now I have a whole new degree of respect for him after I saw his show of celebrity interviews, playing "Jiminy Glick". They are legendary funny!

It's simple geography. Stephen is obviously a well read man. Unfortunately the average american knows very little. They don't even know their own country, let alone the rest of the world.
I was disappointed Colbert felt the need to explain the joke to the audience. That was time that could've been spent on another one liner.

...__ Comedy requires talent, which Short has in abundance, As for Colbert, he used to try passing himself off as a comedian, but was clearly un-funny, so he switched to amateur political commentary, which while it is often inadvertently funny, requires no talent whatsoever..perfect for Colbert...
If short and Robin Williams ever worked on something together it would have been insane.
Short is one of the best. I love his synchronized swimming SNL skit.
That is also one of my favourites. My sister's and I used to laugh so much at that skit!
