It’s worth noting that the Biolizard is completely reworked from being a weird non-adaptable creature to someone with a clear sense of consciousness and humanity from how he uses his new wings. Meaning, he likely was active and waiting around the scenes for Gerald’s plan to be put into fruition. So this fight goes from being about a person fighting a mindless monster with seemingly automatic bio systems to brothers who were on eachother’s leagues. It also makes him seem a lot stronger than Perfect Chaos since that guy could take less hits than modern Sonic and modern Shadow, and he’s far more precise and clean cut than Perfect Chaos ever was.
Shadow sounds and looks so cool in this game, his dialogue sounds really badass, Kirk is finally having his time to shine after Roger, Colleen, Cindy and Dave had their time to shine in Frontiers
Maybe you could time stamp some moments, but I'm definitely not impressed with the voice work I'm hearing. It all barely sounds a step up from "You've GOT this SonIC." "Chaos Control!" Sounds fine though.

I hope they bake the rest of Generations with it too. Fix small Sonic's physics so he actually makes it down the slope (At least Forces lets him get to the bottom of the slope before stopping) Give the original the new game's graphics instead of having the original "Unleashed got a downgrade" version right next to the "Forces and Frontiers had a baby" visuals of the rest of it. THAT would be golden.
I love how the biolizard fight at the start is almost a 1:1 of the one in SA2, making the ability to boost a hell of a lot more situational so you dont run straight into the other end and die. Real great stuff
I like how it slightly screwed him over because he kept trying to boost the boss and it wasn't working. I like it when there's strategy to using the boost and it's not just hold and win.

Fr, I mean, we didn't see much in the trailer tbh. Look at Sunset Heights first reveal when Forces was coming out. People said it would be bad, but so many people were also defending it. You can still see them today, where they would say it's most likely the first level, and that's why it looks short and easy. You can see how wrong they were today It's just like the same here, except it's actually good now that we can see the first level
i really really hope this isnt the case for time trials because that would just make every level an enemy grind to get as many chaos controls as you can, instead of engaging with the level design
Interesting... this gameplay demo uses a different song from the direct capture footage that got released. In the other footage, they ripped the song from the Ark level in Shadow, but this seems to be a new final rush remix. I'm guessing this is probably the final song. This actually gets me thinking... the ark song is probably an unlockable, which means we might be getting a lot of shadow themed unlockable songs. Since the ark level seems to be more based on SA2 than shadow, it makes me think there might be another level based on a shadow stage they haven't revealed yet. Fingers crossed? 🤞 I'd love to see sky troops, lava shelter, black comet, or prison island.
I’d love a Digital Circuit rep! That was always my favourite stage from Shadow. Also about the unlockable music, Gamescage mentioned in a video that when he was playing he said he collected something which looked like a musical note so there’s a good chance you’re right about the selectable level tracks being unlocks in this game.

Holy crap, this looks incredible ! The art direction feels inspired and like a true evolution and polishing of the gameplay, and that remix of the Shadow the Hedgehog multiplayer theme was epic !
Absolutely Gorgeous! The details are immaculate. Combining that with the vibrancy of the ARK makes me real excited for this! The music is awesome, the level is a generous length, the combat feels very Shadow, and ths all around feels so far like what Sonic Forces should have been. I'm thinking we're back!
I watched another video before this and was worried that shadow's top speed was too slow, but the boost mechanic fixes that i think. This game looks absolutely sick, thanks for the sneak peak choc!
something you start to realize the more game releases you pay attention to is how many people really just don't have a very critical eye. They'll go with their gut feelings up until they start to look stupid for it.

the baseline of his character is contained pretty freakin well within sonic advebture 2, rhats the game he debuted in afterall. but he has certainly had development since (and a large lull after sonic 06 since sega was convinced people dont care about him anymore for some reason despite Team Dark being one of the GOOD parts of that game storywise.), i do wonder just how much of a recap this game will be that Dark Begginings preview is lookin really freaking swell though
For a first stage it’s great, I do hope we get to see footage of what a later stage looks like. To get an idea of how differently might ramp up or if some of the level design stays consistent in how things will be messed with by an outside force like Black Doom. The first boss isn’t anything complex, but I like how it’s not just about homing attacking a few times until you’re done. They probably won’t show much of one of the more major bosses in the game, which I assume they’ll have considering that they have frontiers style gameplay confirmed. All in all, I’d say it looks great. Looking forward to seeing what other improvements they’ve made since Frontiers, especially with how this might be giving an idea of how Frontiers 2 might be, at least a little

love how the first level is half final chase and half radical highway, the idea of having 2 locations in one level is such a cool idea i've not seen used since sonic forces overclocked. and the multiple paths is such a breath of fresh air from colors and onwards level design of just going forward. Also that boss fight actually looks hard! if thats true im glad sega is no longer babying us with easy fights (exception being frontiers, those boss fights are actually challenging and pre-patch master king koko trial expert mode can sod off that took me 30 hours.)
@@DarrylWhiteYT Not only that, but the differences between Sonic and Shadow Generations is the same as the ones between 3D World and Bowser's Fury. They have the same level style but the physics are different. Moves and transformations are included in the new campaign not seen in the remastered part. The new campaign takes place in the timeline close to the old one. It focuses on a character second to a main one. The main villain is different. And probably more I can't think of.
Sonic Forces did not have 1. Animations anywhere CLOSE to this level (Sonic literally doesn’t have an idle animation in that game) 2. A UI style anywhere close to this (believe me, as someone with experience in game development and light modding, that’s harder to modify than it sounds) 3. Level design even APPROACHING this level of quality 4. Physics or control anywhere as competent as this. Don’t believe me? Pay attention to how Shadow moves in the Biolizard fight. The turning, ESPECIALLY in the air, is so clearly more responsive than Forces even APPROACHED.
im freaking geeking . I stopped playing sonic games because they wont let you play annyone but sonic, when the Game always allowed you to use multiple charactes with overlapping stories. Seeing Shadow being featured is a breath of fresh air ~!
That's a cool twist on the Biolizard theme "Supporting Me" to do it all instrumental. Also love that Highway In The Sky (Final Rush) arrangement, but it's jarring to use it when it was a Sonic theme in SA2. You're right about the vibrant graphics, they're striking.
seeing how Shadow moves in this makes me wonder how he would be like in a Sonic Frontiers type of gameplay, imagine him racking up combos with those moves!
4:25 It was confirmed that it wasn't Sean. I'm not that much into the DB fandom, but apparently, this is good or at least expected considering the person, according to them at least. One of the things I appreciate in the game is that Shadow has both Chaos Control and Chaos Spear, which are abilities that he actual use on his rival battle in base Generations. So a first-time player who plays the original game first may get the chance to see him do these moves then proceed to play Shadow's story, which is a nice consistency. Same goes for ones who chose to start with Shadow's story first before normal Gens.

Fidel (Gamescage) also played it. He even did a speedrun and got a time of 4:20, when the level is usually 5-6 minutes long.

Went from a sonic channel to a shadow channel
I watched another video before this and was worried that shadow's top speed was too slow, but the boost mechanic fixes that i think. This game looks absolutely sick, thanks for the sneak peak choc!
I still can't believe people saw this and went "Sonic Forces level design."
Some simple minded people judging something they haven’t even properly seen yet
something you start to realize the more game releases you pay attention to is how many people really just don't have a very critical eye. They'll go with their gut feelings up until they start to look stupid for it.

That entire level was completed by him simply holding forward and boosting, with minimal challenges.

What's weird with the space colony ark level is that it uses a remix of final rush, the sonic level, and not final chase, which is the shadow level.
Tbf the stage itself is closer to Final Rush

@sometf2player752 No it's not that either, in the early footage we got they used The Ark as a placeholder song, but now in the demo they are using a remixed Final Rush.
Simple, Final Rush > Final Chase in music and level design.
(I do appreciate Fumie Kumatani's work on SA2 tho)

the baseline of his character is contained pretty freakin well within sonic advebture 2, rhats the game he debuted in afterall.
but he has certainly had development since (and a large lull after sonic 06 since sega was convinced people dont care about him anymore for some reason despite Team Dark being one of the GOOD parts of that game storywise.), i do wonder just how much of a recap this game will be

For a first stage it’s great, I do hope we get to see footage of what a later stage looks like. To get an idea of how differently might ramp up or if some of the level design stays consistent in how things will be messed with by an outside force like Black Doom.
The first boss isn’t anything complex, but I like how it’s not just about homing attacking a few times until you’re done. They probably won’t show much of one of the more major bosses in the game, which I assume they’ll have considering that they have frontiers style gameplay confirmed.
All in all, I’d say it looks great. Looking forward to seeing what other improvements they’ve made since Frontiers, especially with how this might be giving an idea of how Frontiers 2 might be, at least a little

@@indecisiveponderer643 That is true, it’s not confirmed. But with everything that’s been shown, with the skill points, the Frontiers inspired hub world, it’s a possibility. Of course I’ll keep my expectations at a minimum for that.

4:29-4:40 Space Colony Ark Act 1 transitioning into Radical Highway is amazing(you can tell by the music)btw, I've noticed that the "Supporting Me" remix doesn't have lyrics, maybe it will have lyrics in the final version, if it doesn't, that will still be fine, I'm just happy they remembered who Shadow is as a character, he's the ultimate life-form that had no controversial flaws, 06 and Generations was the last time Shadow was characterized correctly, meanwhile in Boom, he really had no reason to be there but to be the edge-lord

It was using the theme from one of the levels of Shadow’s game, it being from “The ARK”. It must’ve been a placeholder for the remix of Final Rush used here.

Honestly it’s a good foundation, we’ve kept the cinematics from frontiers and added them to the basic levels and even have better expressions from the game
Some of the level design has seeped into Shadows section from Generations/Forces
Controllability seems to be at frontiers level without tweaking the settings and the inertia of the character seems like it’s ok
Thoughts on anything else y’all saw to add to this list?
Interesting that they remix sonic's version of space colony ARK. Its the remix i prefer anyways so im not complaining!
love how the first level is half final chase and half radical highway, the idea of having 2 locations in one level is such a cool idea i've not seen used since sonic forces overclocked. and the multiple paths is such a breath of fresh air from colors and onwards level design of just going forward.
Also that boss fight actually looks hard! if thats true im glad sega is no longer babying us with easy fights (exception being frontiers, those boss fights are actually challenging and pre-patch master king koko trial expert mode can sod off that took me 30 hours.)

@@DarrylWhiteYT Not only that, but the differences between Sonic and Shadow Generations is the same as the ones between 3D World and Bowser's Fury. They have the same level style but the physics are different. Moves and transformations are included in the new campaign not seen in the remastered part. The new campaign takes place in the timeline close to the old one. It focuses on a character second to a main one. The main villain is different. And probably more I can't think of.

Sonic Forces did not have
1. Animations anywhere CLOSE to this level (Sonic literally doesn’t have an idle animation in that game)
2. A UI style anywhere close to this (believe me, as someone with experience in game development and light modding, that’s harder to modify than it sounds)
3. Level design even APPROACHING this level of quality
4. Physics or control anywhere as competent as this. Don’t believe me? Pay attention to how Shadow moves in the Biolizard fight. The turning, ESPECIALLY in the air, is so clearly more responsive than Forces even APPROACHED.
im freaking geeking . I stopped playing sonic games because they wont let you play annyone but sonic, when the Game always allowed you to use multiple charactes with overlapping stories.
Seeing Shadow being featured is a breath of fresh air ~!

Watching this uninterrupted and with audio is only making it more impressive. I can't believe how much effort has gone into this.

That's a cool twist on the Biolizard theme "Supporting Me" to do it all instrumental. Also love that Highway In The Sky (Final Rush) arrangement, but it's jarring to use it when it was a Sonic theme in SA2.

seeing how Shadow moves in this makes me wonder how he would be like in a Sonic Frontiers type of gameplay, imagine him racking up combos with those moves!

4:25 It was confirmed that it wasn't Sean. I'm not that much into the DB fandom, but apparently, this is good or at least expected considering the person, according to them at least.
One of the things I appreciate in the game is that Shadow has both Chaos Control and Chaos Spear, which are abilities that he actual use on his rival battle in base Generations. So a first-time player who plays the original game first may get the chance to see him do these moves then proceed to play Shadow's story, which is a nice consistency. Same goes for ones who chose to start with Shadow's story first before normal Gens.
