    Great Series so far Bryan! So glad I came across it. I am still in the queue for my 2021 Model Y LR (Midnight silver though). Bouncing between the last week of July and the middle of August. Can't wait to see it get here.
    And I can't wait until you get up north. I am in Montana about an hour and a half from one of the entrances into Yellowstone. I have been all over the park if you have any questions. Plenty of campgrounds in and around the park. One of the best places to see some amazing wildlife is the Lamar River Valley at sunrise. Moose, Grizzly, Wolves, Bison all over the place. Don't get me wrong you will have some amazing views all over the park. Just plan for a few animal traffic jams as they use the roads as much as we do sometimes. Favorite day hike in the park is Fairy Falls. About 4.5 miles round trip from the parking lot but mostly flat. Takes you right behind the grand prismatic spring.
    The only entrance to the park that I believe has a supercharger is West Yellowstone. Between there and Bozeman MT (which also has a supercharger) is a super fun twisty mountain road with great views. About halfway between the two is the Big Sky Resort area. Awesome golf course and ski area that has a charger as well.
    Looking forward to the next video and stay safe in your travels!

      You have no idea how helpful that is. I really appreciate the tips and can't wait to get up there. My plan is to do that area towards the end of August. Yellowstone, then up to Glacier & plan to also visit the Washington, but not sure on places yet. I'll hit you up on here when I head that way. Also, congrats on the MYLR! I'm sure you'll love it. That delivery wait is excruciating ;) Seems to be longer now compared to when I ordered in April. Let me know how you like it when it does come and thanks for watching. I really appreciate it.

    That place looks amazing! Cool idea with the traffic cone, or is that something common to see when you’ve claimed a spot?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it's a great camping spot although it can get rowdy on the weekends during the summer as a lot of people from Vegas come up there as it's 30 degrees cooler so it will occasionally turn into almost a block party. I've found during the week to be best or one of the other ones in the area for weekends. Usually I don't have to use the cone as putting the ticket on the post usually does the job, but again, this place is rowdy sometimes and people tend to ignore things unless it's obvious.

    A little update, but the ski lodge burned down a few months after you posted this video.. its sad, Im a local in Vegas and it was a great spot to get a quick bite at Charleston when you needed to get away from the city

    Why not run the fridge off of the Jackery overnight? Then you don't need to run Sentry Mode or Camp Mode. You are on a great trip!

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought about that, but then I’d leave the Jackery low on charge if I wanted to cook breakfast or lunch before I could put the solar panels out or if it’s a cloudy day then I end up plugging the Jackery into the 12v on the Tesla anyways. I also kind of like not having to unplug it and can just leave it, but maybe I’ll try that on the next trip to see how it goes. Thanks 😀

      I tried to plug in my fridge to Jackery DC outlet. But it cut off after a while. Should I use AC outlet for the fridge?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Xin Liu Check the voltage setting or your manual. My fridge has a H (High), M (Medium) & L (Low) setting. If I leave it on H (High) which is the default setting then it will turn off when plugged into my Tesla, but if I turn it to M (Medium) it stays on forever. I'd check that first or use the AC outlet if you just want to keep it on the standard voltage setting. Let me know if that works and thanks for watching.

    Can you fridge not run off the jackery for the night then recharge in the morning off the car will charging it

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I could, but like to have a full battery on the Jackery for cooking breakfast & lunch. If it’s sunny that would usually work as a couple hours with the solar panels would recharge it, but if it’s not then I’d have to use the car to recharge it which kind of defeats the purpose of using the Jackery in the first place. It’s a trade off but from what I’ve seen keeping the fridge plugged in doesn’t take up much battery at all. Maybe I’ll do a test on the next trip and use the Jackery to see how much the fridge drains.

  • @derrick1964
    @derrick1964 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Jackerys are nice but why don’t you just install an inverter in your Tesla?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good question. From the research I did, it voids your warranty. Also some complained that the Tesla's computer would freak out and send Tesla alerts that your battery was bad and needed to be replaced. Some have said Tesla then pointed out it voids the warranty and I verified the terms do explicitly prohibit using the Tesla as a stationary power source.
      The other reasons I chose not to was because I wanted to use the Jackery when using other vehicles for camping or when other friends drove or if I wanted to power something away from the car. I also wanted to take advantage of the solar aspect and the simple package Jackery provided. Using an inverter would be a cheaper solution, but I wasn't willing to test Tesla's warranty stance with a $60k car 😀

    • @derrick1964
      @derrick1964 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bryanhauer Uh….well…..scratch that idea. I definitely don’t wanna mess with the warranty of my Model X either.

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep. Sounds like Tesla understands this is an option people want and they've seen other manufacturers add bi-directional charging and so they have stated future cars would come with multiple AC ports where people can utilize the large batteries for things like camping or if their house loses power.
      Not sure how big the chance is they'd even know, but with all the computing these cars have, I was afraid to risk it and lose my warranty.

    • @derrick1964
      @derrick1964 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bryanhauer I just remembered that I told a mobile service tech that I planned on installing an inverter and he said it wouldn’t be a problem. He had one in his work Tesla. He said that you shouldn’t add any power to the 12v system like an auxiliary battery.

    How is the drive with the 20 inch wheels? Is it rough, especially on dirt roads? 19 inches better?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's definitely rough on the dirt roads, but that's to be expected with a thinner tire and no air suspension. Normally I think it's probably slightly rougher than previous cars I've had, but not bad and I think the super soft seats help a bit. I haven't ridden in one with the 19's, but for me I love the look of the 20's and it's not too rough for me to want to change. Thanks for commenting.

    How risky is it to leave stuff at the campsite? - or do you pack everything up each time you leave?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These type of paid campsites it's pretty safe to leave a tent, chairs etc, but never leave high value stuff. I always take my Jackery and solar panels for instance with me.
      At dispersed camping, I would never leave anything outside of a chair or popup shower tent or something like that to save your spot, otherwise I'd take everything with me.

    How do you watch movies with no internet connection?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I download them before hand from Netflix, Apple TV+ or TH-cam for watching offline. If you've watched my new video, I now have Starlink so shouldn't run into the problem of no service any longer. But back then... I just download them from a spot that has good service or go to a McDonalds or Starbucks and used their wifi to download movies/shows.

    Did you install any heat rejection tinting on your Model Y?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did. I got a ceramic tint with heat rejection on the 2 front doors. Didn't touch any of the other windows yet. I will say with all the glass my arms have still gotten a lot of sun compared to previous cars even with the ceramic tint.

    How do you know it’s a camping spot on BLM is there a marking or sign

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use the app Campendium which shows what kind of camping spot it is as well as you can filter the results to only show a specific type of camping. I also have been matching that up with BLM.gov which shows a map of the areas. Most of the ones I’ve been which have been listed as dispersed camping to also have a sign when you enter. For some of the larger areas out west I’d use Campendium and then the BLM website to confirm. Thanks for watching!

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bradleyw6970 There is an adapter where it’ll let you use the Jackery. Now it’ll probably only give you about 15 miles of range, but it’ll do the trick to keep things topped off especially if you have the solar panels plugged in. I’ll link to it along with the video of charging a Tesla with it. I don’t know of any other solar options currently that allow you to plug solar directly into the car.

    What’s BLM land mean? Not familiar with term here in oz. Guessing Native American land ?

    • @bryanhauer
      @bryanhauer  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just means Bureau of Land Management which is public land that the federal government owns and anyone can use. Here in the US it’s quite prevalent on the west side of the US where there’s a lot of open areas with less population.
