Thanks for the frank and honest conversation at the end of the video about the reality of being a long time content creator on TH-cam. I feel like most automotive channels I’ve been watching for years have all alluded to the recent issues they’ve been having but almost nobody I’ve seen has talked about it in much detail. It was very insightful, and honestly a bit depressing, but much appreciated.
"My game plan is parking fucking cars dude" 🤣 I'm dead. Matt your brutal honesty is so awesome. It's really a shame how they've destroyed this platform because there is zero incentive for great content creators like yourself to do anything worthwhile. For what it's worth I'm going to start supporting creators I like by actually trying their products, and other goods. This is the talk that needs to go viral, I I respect you both for saying how much you hate having to "do the youtube face" and sell adds but at the end of the day we all gotta pay the mortgage.
The relationship you guys have despite living on opposite coasts is clear to see, Great friends where it never changes. Very natural and good to watch. Good laughs and entertaining 👏🏻

I 100% agree about the TH-cam platform as a viewer. I'm subscribed to all kinds of stuff from powerlifting, cycling, mountain biking, cars, gaming, etc. The only thing that shows up in my recommendations is based on what I'm currently watching, and maybe 25% are channels I'm subscribed to. It's become useless to subscribed to channels. I do still subscribe in random situations, but it's more because I saw a channel and don't want to completely forget they exist. I literally won't watch recommended videos sometimes of something that's not my interests because I don't want my feed to get flooded. I watched a rollerblading video the other day because I was like whatever that looks like it might be a good video, now half my feed is rollerblading which I'm not even interested in doing or watching, all because I watched two rollerblading videos like a week ago.
Man, I had no idea that the economics of TH-cam had changed so much! I learned how to detail based on Larry’s videos. I won’t gripe so much about the sponsored content 😅. Nevertheless, I hope you guys still grace us with content!
Thank you *so much* for the TH-cam insider discussion. The newest algorithm requires creators to focus so much time and energy on metrics that video quality has to suffer (not their fault). I have to go search manually to find my favorite TH-camr’s newest videos. We share in your frustration!! I am ready for an alternative, but building a YT competitor is a steep hill to climb. Amazon maybe?
It's so sad to hear guys like Mat talk about how the machine of TH-cam is grinding them down. Good guys like this shouldn't have to be punished by the system because they aren't a new a shiny channel.
Matt & Larry I absolutely love both your channels & follow you both weekly. Larry, this is really more for you but an opportunity does exist for you to go clean either the battleship New Jersey or dreadnought Texas. The Texas is still in the yards in Galveston and is slated to come out at the end of the year. The New Jersey is due for a yard dry docking in Philadelphia sometime early next year. Cleaning or helping maintain either of those ships would be a fantastic high profile project for your show.
Have your people reach out to Ryan Semanski, the curator of the battleship New Jersey museum and memorial to see if there could be overlap in this possible upcoming project.
I would love to hear a BTS TH-cam creator podcast. I find all the analytics fascinating. To Larry’s point, instead of constantly throwing content out there, pulling back and doing a high quality video less often would make sense. There is a reason why tv shows only make a handful of episodes every season. It would give you more time to focus on other things in lieu of being pressured to put a video out every week. You guys have a dedicated audience. They will go where you at. For Matt to put it in radio terms, it’s similar to when Stern moved to Sirius. The audience still came.

When you buy a car, you MUST be ready to walk away if you're not comfortable with the deal. Factories are pumping out cars, if you walk away and wait a few weeks another deal will pop up and you will get the car you want.
I’m really surprised there hasn’t been some sort of consumer oversight for dealers to plainly detail where the numbers come from and the “fees”. I just went through this the other week as well.
Matt, and Zack, and the rest of the team… just want to say I really enjoy the podcasts and OneTake videos. And now that I am actually getting a check every month with exactly the same money I’ll be back on the patreon. It’s literally going to be one of the very first reoccurring bills I’ll have saved on my card. Being a simple carpenter is hard. Being a building material salesman is less hard. But it sure as shit pays the same every week. I also have a corporation looking over my shoulder now but the idea is two-four years of this and then I can kinda figure out what I want to do. So there is that.

But there is zero way I’m watching anyone even the worlds most premier and famous car detailer clean a dilapidated bumper car ride outside name that small town no one’s ever heard of Kansas. I don't necessarily think someone at TH-cam is turning a dial to adjust the goal post on what trends, but I just think that what people want to watch changes. I'm getting old, so I don't get all the TikTok and shorts but that seems to be what most people want to see.
Larry and Mat should talk wiht the Walser stores in Minneapolis, they do a one price, no commissioned sales people that is right in line with what they are talking about.

I have long believed that any platform that relies on advertising will eventually find it unsustainable and see its model fail. Advertising is a fickle mistress.
It sounded like you were complaining about making $5,600 in 4 days (2,600 for 2 videos and $3,000 for one ad). It may have involved international travel, but you didn't have to work 40 hours. If you made that amount every week, that's about $280 per year. What's wrong with that?
Crazy when people with money think they can negotiate the price of a car because they have access to auction reports. Go buy one at an auction and save yourself the time…
Funny how Matt mentions that “we the people” are subsiding the purchase of vehicles over 6,000 pounds. By definition a subsidy is an amount of money the government is paying you for an item to lessen the burden. This portion of the tax code allows you to reduce the price of the vehicle from your taxable income. Paying less in net taxes is not a subsidy, the government is not paying for any portion of that vehicle… Very odd to use that in the same breathe as talking about EVs, which are literally subsidized.

“We the people” is a little rich coming from a guy who’s dad was making 10 million a year in stocks alone working in the fashion industry. I think in years past Matt’s “Bull Run” phase and making jokes and racing on the highway doing wild stuff has led him down this path of doing his own redemption arc that no one asked for. Despite that he seems like a genuine guy and is a great writer, with social media now it’s inevitable that these different side blend
I can only speak for myself but I don’t watch the one take’s because I have absolutely no interest most if not all modern cars. They get into the technology of the car. I don’t need a video to tell me a 4500 lb electric car drives like shit.

@@mr.snoopy8732 generally i actually agree with his political takes, i just think he needs to check where he's coming from with them. but i'm also not a democrat so 🤷♂
“We the people” is a little rich coming from a guy who’s dad was making 10 million a year in stocks alone working in the fashion industry.
I think in years past Matt’s “Bull Run” phase and making jokes and racing on the highway doing wild stuff has led him down this path of doing his own redemption arc that no one asked for. Despite that he seems like a genuine guy and is a great writer, with social media now it’s inevitable that these different side blend
He and his family do exploit those loopholes.
imagine complaining about making $4k in 4 days, not including patreon.
exactly and that doesnt include all the parking spots and detailing products they fog on every utube vid
I wonder if Farrah still has his Trump helmet?
Echo city 😢😢😢
I can only speak for myself but I don’t watch the one take’s because I have absolutely no interest most if not all modern cars. Back in 2018 is when you were doing driving impressions on cars I would actually purchase. I watch savagegeese for the modern cars because I find it entertaining how bad the modern cars actually are. They get into the technology of the car. I don’t need a video to tell me a 4500 lb electric car drives like shit.
Larry is great. Matt, not so much...
Why do you watch?
@@Heyitsallgoodman Didn't even watch. Just saw the thumbnail and couldn't stand to watch
This guy again! He must pay top dollar to apperar on every youtube channel known to men!
He went to high school with Matt and also the TH-cam car world is small.
Who Larry?
Matt called me 25 hours before he arrived. Last min thing. If you actually knew me or had any personal experience with me.., you’d know that I don’t, have never, and will not pay to be on a shoe. (Especially one of my closest friends)
The audio on every Larry show is trash
Listening to this millionaire whine about paying $1,300 doc fee…..🥱
