  • Roger Farah is back to answer your business (and life) questions! His last appearance was so popular we just had to have him back, so here's 90 minutes of fan questions about business, entrepreneurship, how to get ahead, why being curious is important, staying cool in tough situations, taking your shot, and more. There's great lessons here for anyone, no matter what job you have.
Roger has been a heavy-hitter in the world of business and retail. His career started in department stores, working his way up at Saks Fifth Avenue until moving on to become the CEO of Rich's/Goldsmith's Department Stores (retailing) and President of Rich's/Goldsmith's Department Stores from 1987 to 1988. He was the CEO of Foot Locker in the '90s and then was President and COO of Ralph Lauren for over a decade.

Your Dad is becoming legend here Matt - you are so different but in some areas you are clearly your dad's son. Both of you created a very successful career and are a role model. What is wonderful that your old man can see and enjoy your success. I couldn't show it to my dad anymore who passed away too young. So I am very happy for you about it. Thank you so much for sharing it and bringing your Dad to the show. He is now a bit our dad too! :)

We need your father on more often. If anything you guys should have a separate podcast that comes out once a month (at least) and it could be like 2 hours long. Your father is a great speaker and could capture new listeners. Very interesting to learn from a person who has been very successful and isn’t one that brags about themselves just gives an insight on his own perspective.

I worked for nearly 20 years in r&d and global technology development (project management at Apple). In that time I acquired a ton of experience in logistics, supply chain management, global ops etc - and found that I could apply those skills to nearly any industry. So I made the decision to leave and pursue a career in an industry I love: wine. Never been happier and I’ve been catapulted into roles I would have never expected to be in. Lesson learned, as Roger commented on: become an expert in something over time, and then find an industry you love that you can pivot to and apply those skills.
