Holtz, ya missed the number one selling point for the machine lords: They are three of the best sounding guns in all of Destiny. Seriously. Turn your sound up and empty each of them out and listen to the sound, it's amazing, and each have subtle variations that play off of their burn elements.
SGA = highest boss dps of all the exotic machine guns Sure, the other exotic machine guns will have higher dps to start with, but once they start reloading is when SGA picks up and shoots past them for damage
Three things. 1. Please Bungie incorporate that Recoil fix. 2. They had a shot here to play with a trio in some fun and new way. Not saying changing elements isn't cool, it'd have been cool to see some changes like chain lightning(Thunderlord), solar AoE (Abbadon), and a weakness buff applied to enemies (from Nova Mortis) in addition to the general perks, per say. 3. The 'exotic' perk speeds up RoF and increases accuracy. Accuracy in this case means that the increase will made ADS shots feel even easier to land. Not Mentioned: Increasing accuracy here also decreases Hip Fire spread as you continue to empty the mag. You end up with the Persistence perk feat. Ramped up RoF, if that makes any sense.
4th thing haha 4. All Machine Lords have a Firefly-esque perk built in. These explosions trigger on every precision kill (patched from some to every in a recent patch) and take the damage type of the Machine Lord you're using.

If I'm doing a playlist with Arc Burn I'd probably just use Zhalo Supercell honestly, for consistent ammo. And I don't say that lightly, since I absolutely love Thunderlord.
Thing is you occasionally get arc burn and small arms, so zhalo can get two damage boosts while thunder lord only gets 1. Frankly they don't do enough damage to warrant their use over other exotics save for say this week it's void burn. I have a void fusion and sniper I can use and swap between that are both great. I can justify using the void lord which also let's me swap to dark drinker if I so choose on the fly. Truth as well. You need a legenday that is as good as an exotic to warrant them. I personally feel if I'm not making use of that exotic almost constantly it's not doing me much good.
If both were on yes zhalo will be better overall, but that requires both modifiers to be the case. If only one is on you'd be potentially better off with something else. Me personally with arc burn I can swing for either thunderlord or zhalo. I do have arc MGs and other heavies i can use in its place freeing up a zhalo for use but point for point a thunderlord on just arc burn out does a zhalo. Zhalo just gets more use because of the abundance of ammo. That said, using zhalo allows me to swap on the fly to other exotic primaries while thunderlord for heavies. Its all personal preference. Personally I go with zhalo mostly for my rule I mentioned before but it really depends on the modifiers fr me to really decide, I even change what i'm using sometimes mid week because I find it more effective. Also depends on what class i'm using, You better believe if I see that tasty arc burn and brawler i'm busting out the blade dancer. That said i'm also 400 light on all my characters so if i'm doing strikes its for fun or to help my friends who aren't at 400 yet. :P
that was the case when the gun came out a few weeks later when another patch happened and the stability was added to those two other guns and I love both guns even more now
I never knew I had the thunder Lord subspecies per say but only an idea from people mentioning new thunder lords in diff elem. you can barely make out the words nova mortis is the only clue I had. however today when I told my friend about getting it and keeping it for a week or two because I only play at weekends. but my friend just had to get an exotic heavy engram and get a thunder Lord.
I really like the Nova Mortis cause it's void and I love the color purple and it's basically a Void Thunder Lord! I do wish the quest to get them was harder but Im still happy I got them! 😃🤘👍
Hard Light machine gun ("Heavy Light", or "Light Heavy"?). Spreadshot machine gun, w/ crowd control. Machine gun with exotic wall penetration perk. Machine gun with explosive rounds. Machine gun with smoke cloud effect on impact, which grows in size relative to the number of rounds fired.
Man if the thunderlord catalyst in D2 came at the end of a proper iron banner quest and let us switch between these elements, that would be pretty dope.
Hang on a second Guys, when was the last time you saw / inspected Thunderlord being used in PvP or PvE? FYI; use a ranged weapon like Truth / Ghally or perhaps Exotic swords just for fun (depends on the situation)!

my conclusion: all three are extremely good in pve especially with burn (the "firefly" thing with burn is op af) and they are also extremely good in pvp (probally my favourite machinegun in pvp) totally worth the exotic slot it deals insane damage and is very reliable when you need to clear a place with several enemies
yeah. the Nova mortis and abadon both have the hidden Firefly thing the thunderlord has.the Nova mortis one looks like the bloom perk from voidwalker,and abadon's looks like a regular Firefly, but dose solar damage.
I have been using the thunder lord as my pve and pvp gun for a year now and I love it! But I think i will only use the thunder lord and nova mortis during burns. I don't see myself using the abadon in solar burn when I have the gjallarhorn hah

I still wish that they didn't just copy and paste the perks from thunderlord onto the new lords. It would be much cooler if each one had a different perk that increased its DPS in some way such as firing bursts, returning ammo to the mag or explosives of some kind after a multikill
You know what would be good. When you get all 3 heavy machine gun, you would combine all 3 and make one cool ass trio of exotic machine gun. Switching elements without changing your gun and costing you your ammo to reset. Mehh just my creativity.

Dude Dregs promise melts people in PvP, most fun to kill are the shotgun rushers (but I can admit that it's less useful in PvE, since anyone with a brain would use a sniper, both for highest boss damage (relative to ammo availability) and for killing tier 2 enemies).
The Nemesis Star gun is more stable for me but has such an incredibly slow reload. This gun here reloads much faster and is much nicer looking with its animation.
The quest is short only 5 steps. You get around 30 ability kills and then do a strike and that is it. I like having a holster of machine guns that do great damage but are different elements. So in my opinion, Yes.
They're not really worth using in my opinion. Useless! In Arc Burn, the Supercell is the best exotic to use. In Void Burn, it's the Dark Drinker and the Telesto. In Solar, it's the Black Spindle, Sleeper Simulant or the Raze Lighter. Yes, I didn't mention the Gjallarhorn because all the Solar exotic guns mentioned above do more damage. The Sleeper Simulant does so much more damage, that in the Raid (Vosik encounter), if you shoot all of your Gjallarhorn rockets and continue with a Sniper, you still won't do more damage than just shooting with the Sleeper Simulant. Raze Lighter does about the same damage as the Sleeper but Raze Lighter is definitely more fun to use and you can't really use it in all strikes. Black Spindle also does more damage than the Gjallarhorn. G-Horn is just not that good anymore. Kind of pisses me off when I see people who use it all the time and think it's still the god-gun.

Ayyy, Dreg's Promise isn't that bad anymore :( I kick tons of ass with it in Crucible and I've started using it more than my normal sidearms cause it spawns with 2 full mags instead of 1 mag and a couple extra bullets. Yeah trespasser does the same thing, but I can't get the hang of that thing for the life of me. It shoots too slow for my liking, but Dreg's Promise can easily be spammed against those pesky juggernaut shotguns.
Don't use these guns.. just use a sword, gally, sleeper or outbreak prime.. If you wanna use a machine gun, just use a Legendary.. These exotic machine guns aren't worth an exotic slot when there are better options.
Hi, Thunderlord User here, Thunderlord is basically a Primary weapon disguised as a Heavy. Same for Abbadon and Nova Mortis. I rarely run out of ammo with my Thunderlord and, if I do, I just pop a synth which is just about all Xur is good for these days. And The Lords clear rooms just as easily as Zhalo does. Don't sleep on that hidden firefly. Of course, if it's a solar burn week, I'll switch over to Sleeper Simulant for Boss DPS. But, other than that, Thunderlord has been my go to weapon for Arc burns and, in general for the past 2 years now and I love it. Basically, to Each their own lol. If you like Zhalo, run Zhalo.

In Y1 the mag size was 60 and the total ammo was 180. The extra heavy ammo perk only brought the total ammo to 181.

They also forgot to apply the recent Thunderlord Stability buff to the Void/Solar version.

Thunderlord originally had around 38 rounds or so. With field scout it made it 50.

yea the "not aiming at heads" thing is ridiculous in PvP, sometimes I shoot at their toes and still get headshots

Ayyy, Dreg's Promise isn't that bad anymore :(
I kick tons of ass with it in Crucible and I've started using it more than my normal sidearms cause it spawns with 2 full mags instead of 1 mag and a couple extra bullets. Yeah trespasser does the same thing, but I can't get the hang of that thing for the life of me. It shoots too slow for my liking, but Dreg's Promise can easily be spammed against those pesky juggernaut shotguns.

Don't use these guns.. just use a sword, gally, sleeper or outbreak prime.. If you wanna use a machine gun, just use a Legendary.. These exotic machine guns aren't worth an exotic slot when there are better options.

James Massey You wouldn't, and you wouldn't use Abbadon over Gjallarhorn when it's solar burn. the only one worth getting is the Nova Mortis.

Hi, Thunderlord User here, Thunderlord is basically a Primary weapon disguised as a Heavy. Same for Abbadon and Nova Mortis. I rarely run out of ammo with my Thunderlord and, if I do, I just pop a synth which is just about all Xur is good for these days. And The Lords clear rooms just as easily as Zhalo does. Don't sleep on that hidden firefly. Of course, if it's a solar burn week, I'll switch over to Sleeper Simulant for Boss DPS. But, other than that, Thunderlord has been my go to weapon for Arc burns and, in general for the past 2 years now and I love it.
Basically, to Each their own lol. If you like Zhalo, run Zhalo.
Gearshifter09 well if you have ruin wings, the space man hat or the raid gloves then heavy ammo is no problem and you shouldn't need a synth
