      Glad you liked it. I too have a massive heed ;) finding hats to fit has always been a challenge. I always have to pay extra to get a size to fit me :(

    Excellent explanation, bravo! While I was watching it, I said to myself that this could apply to other differences... Like the colour of one's skin/hair/eyes, body types and language. Thank you!

      Yes like the colours of the rain bow ...some express some more than others ...though when combined we ..Still get White !

    Well explained!! I give the analogy of the variety and diversity in fruits and animals to explain this to others ie neurotypical = monkey/apple, ADHD = fish/pomegranate, ASD = eagle/banana etc
    I am confused about one thing however. How do you determine what is a neurotype and what's an illness, or something else entirely? I get how dyslexia, ADHD and autism are neurotypes, they are different ways of living, thinking, perceiving. But depression is an illness, for example. Why are those affected by depression called neurodivergent/neurodiverse as well? They don't perceive time differently, they don't mix up letters, they don't have a different way of social interaction or anything like that; they're in an extremely bad place and being depressed means the inability to feel happy. Depression DOES affect functioning and it's HORRIBLE, I wholeheartedly agree. But how do you categorize whether it's an illness or a neurotype (or something else)? How do I know whether OCD or Down Syndrome or schizophrenia are illnesses or neurotypes? :/

      @Autistamatic  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi :)
      I personally wouldn't go so far with those analogies. Rather than different phyla (primate, fish, bird) I'd suggest that if NTs are metaphorical monkeys then ND people would be less common varieties of monkey. We're not THAT different.
      As to your question - neurodiversity is not a concept rooted in biology or medicine, but one of sociology. Everyone on the planet is part of the neurodiversity paradigm. Those who are neurodivergent include everyone whose neurology differs from the average norm. The concept of neurodiversity is not about categorising the differences in how our brains work - it's about recognising that everyone everyone deserves equal respect and allowing everyone the same opportunities whatever their brain structure. Prejudice is counterproductive in whatever form it resents.

      @@Autistamatic I'd love a video about this (if there isn't one already, haven't gone through the channel yet, just discovered you yesterday night). I think it's quite an important matter to understand and I see many neurodivergents (including myself) going through this same question
