Uncle Ian's contribution is very important. Your father mentioned on a previous video he was very ill last year. His contribution and experience are very important and invaluable. In our younger years we make no allowance for our older family members.

They have forgotten more about farming then we will ever know. We go to our local store and we always listen to the older farmers talk about the stuff they have dealt with over the years you can learn a lot from them and they won't be here forever.

Your uncle reminds me of my granddad (must be in the genes). My granddad drove himself from a field about 12 miles to the hospital while having a major heart attack, then had open heart surgery (triple bypass) only to be back in the combine again a few weeks later harvesting wheat and oats. He reluctantly retired a few years later only because my grandmother had Alzheimer's and needed him at home. I think some people just need to be active and doing what they enjoy. It's good to see your uncle still going when he can... Cheers from the USA!
Sounds like the extra grip from the new tyres might have been the straw that broke the camel's back. There's always something when you are running machinery or have livestock.

Volvo make damn good loaders that seem to be able to do crazy high hours with little bother maybe look into them or failing that jcb if ye can find an unabused one

You uncle Ian is a tidy man on the pit and he is only right to be taking it handy. I like the JCB but you can beat a Volvo I know the price is higher but they last and hold there value.
Great Video phil great to see all the team work 💪. I d probably pick a jcb 300 310 or the 320 series handy for the silage, cleaning sheds out and feeding during the winter.Someone should give u a demo model for awhile.Keep up the great work.

Great video Phil, really shows the joys of contracting. Having driven a lot of loading shovels in both quarry and agriculture and the one loader I didn't like driving was a komatsu. Volvo or JCB would be my choice if I was buying.
Great video Phil as a shovel driver myself and having drove nearly every make of shovel over the years the only one I would buy if it was me is Volvo great power and serious hydraulics on them all the contractors beside me are all on Volvo’s now left jcb as they won’t last as long as Volvo caterpillar aren’t a bad machine just a bit heavy for pit work new holland aren’t bad either very reliable and a great engine the only problem with Volvo is price they are not cheap but worth every penny hope that helps you
Nice vid as always phil. This weather would just drive a man mad! Was supposed to be on a week of grain hauling now it's doubtful the combine will get out of the shed. Personally I think a fresh jcb 416 with a 12ft folding would be a great tool for u if funds will allow
Depends really on what ur looking for abit of an older yoke or newer and what it will be used for maybe a jcb tm 420s and get rid if the tele aswell or just a loading shovel id say stick to volvo and jcb 2 best brands for loading shovels
Good job it's a 38 acre field with all what's going on. You'd barely get the Jaguar into our biggest.. And if you did she'd be down out of sight on the first run
a Volvo L120 should do a nice job packing the silage and have power to lift the grass up aswell :) or a l90 if you want something that can turn in your yard. Worked with and driven volvos for many years, they are very good machines and have been for a long while.
You should look at the liebherr 544 2plus2. That is a really good loader, it's the small loader in the big series so it has the big transmission, it has hydrostatic transmission and I don't think you can find another loader with the same comfort cap and low fuel economy because it just have a 4 cylinder engine but it has so much power, I had rund on and it is a really nice loader with low maintenance.

I agree but don't buy a 416 they're not agrispec they're an industrial shovel never buy a jcb ending in 1 or 6 for farm work

JCB 414s or 416 is the way to go , we had an old 412 and upgraded a bit to a 414s this year and it’s a good loader and we are very happy with it
