  • An enjoyable ride for the novice off-road mountain biker. The video pays particular attention to the terrain to ensure potential riders can judge if it is suitable for their level of riding ability.
Scenic, fairly low level, emtb ride in the English Lake District National Park (Langdales) using bridleways (roughly 60% off road) and minor roads where possible, for those with mountain bikes who don't fancy the more technical, high level routes; the routes that are readily available in books, magazines, youTube etc. The bridleway down from Tarn Hows is the trickiest section but this is easily avoided by riding down the one-way exit road.
This ride is 16 miles long but easily shortened.
A basic map showing the route is available at the end of the video.
I've put together this ride and several others (work in progress) as I've found a distinct lack of detailed information on rideable off-road routes for those of us with mountain e-bikes (hardtail or full suspension) who want to enjoy an easier ride. I've spent considerable time walking bridleways to assess rideability as many are just not suitable for our needs or just overgrown!
The number of e-bike riders (especially seniors, like us) appears to be rapidly increasing and I'm hoping these routes will be useful to those visiting Cumbria and the Lake District and maybe even the local residents, like ourselves.

Hi, just wanted to let you know that I used your video as a guide from Tarn Hows on the pathway. I found this very helpful, as someone who is visually impaired and 66, I camped at Satterthwaite, while up at my sisters in Flookburgh, and used my mountain bike to get around, not an ebike, so plenty of walking on steeper gradients, got lost a few times, sign posts were not easy to see. Well done, love the guides, this was my annual 1 week respite, so may not get back to the lakes for a few years, cheers Alan.
