I agree with Seth’s garage, try it on a regular daily driver. Retorque the heads after a couple of drives and see how long it lasts. It was very impressive that it lasted as long as it did
That’s what I’d like to see. Another 3-4 coats let dry, and thro if on a daily. I think it would last quite a while.

I love how Garrett can go anywhere and make friends and have everyone feel better after they talk to him. What a good guy. Especially when TH-cam seems to turn people into rich, calloused, arrogant and obnoxious jerks or depressed, miserable and beat down husks of their former selves. Cleetus has managed to walk that middle line.
No doubt! I met him like 4 years ago when Leroy ran its first 8.90s pass. I had my then 7 year old with me. My son bought an old glass bottle of coke with dale on it and wanted to give it to garret. He couldn’t have been nicer to us and took the time to talk to us, even though he was busy with leroy at the time.

I want to see it applied to the old metal head gasket reusing it.
Ive done this with normal silicone and it worked permanently
It failed because when applied thicker it needed more dry time and then you added an extra wet layer right before assembly. You needed to skip the last application and let it dry for a few days. Once dry, the dried seal would have crushed between the two surfaces sealing them completely. In essence the pressure blew out the wet flex seal. Try a heat lamp or a heat gun to expedite dry time and do it again to see if it blows out dry flex seal! Bet it doesn't. What do you got to lose! I'm sure you got a few cans left over. Lol. Flex Seal makes a great adhesive too! Fixed my favorite beach sandal straps and they're better than new! Also fixed the flaking seam seal the manufacturer put on my surfing gloves too. BTW it did a great job on my gutter leak too lol! Amazed it did so well as a head gasket. Too bad you didn't let it heat cycle a couple of times. It would have made a great version of one of those "there we were on a surf safari in Baja stuck with nothing but a can of flex seal" stories........
As time goes by, the clips that hold the trim to the body weaken. That's when the trim on your car will start rattling in the wind. A bead of Flex Paste on the trim fills the gap and absorbs the vibration. Nice and quiet again.

I stuck a 40lbs sink to the wall with a couple lines of flex shot (rubbery caulk made by flex seal). Before I even put the pedestal back under it, it was already sturdy as hell, able to take the weight of me leaning on it. Awesome stuff.
How about ones that claim high temperature like "Hi-Temp Silicone Coating Spray by DEI" or "Permatex Copper High Temperature Spray-A-Gasket Sealant". Maybe do a head to head head gasket challenge!!!
Permatex red or copper is what I use for header gaskets. Old school trick that seriously works great.

One of the best sealants I've ever used to get me home in an pinch I used this for an quick fix on my rear deferential on my Peterbilt to get me home when I had a crack in the casing it was leaking bad at the time but it did slow it down enough to make it home for the long trip back

LOL yeah I mean I would love to see this too! But as a mechanic I also must say you’re probably going to want to get that head gasket leak fixed. Definitely not good to drive around like that. I personally would not recommend flexseal unless you have a low horsepower and compression engine. 😂

can confirm, flex sealed a bmw 4.4 v8. works in a pinch, but way better off fixing the gasket
It'll actually work temporarily 100%, but overtime it will fail. Flex seal is basically just rubber, and rubber is used all throughout the car already. The problem happens because most rubber gaskets in cars are treated to be resistant towards stuff like oil, gas, and other things in car engines. Flex seal hasn't been treated for any of this stuff, so yeah.
A lot of people seem to forget that flex seal is literally just rubber.
For Sientific reasons I would like to see you do this on a high mileage engine to see if flex seal would hold up in long hual trials

@Tyler I used JB WELD to fix a cracked block (water jacket) in an 350 CID boat engine. It lasted for over 15 years (till it froze again and broke in the same place) The stuff is phenomenal.

If you guys had called customer service and asked them the proper torque spec for an LS engine head with FlexSeal head gasket you wouldn't have had that issue! 😁

We had an old Allis Chamblers tractor that needed an exhaust gasket. We took a piece of felt roofing underlay ( tar paper) between the head and manifold, poked a hole in the the center of each port. Worked until we traded it for a larger one two years later.
These are the types of videos that started this channels success. The lab coats, the dumb experiments… this is what we need Clet.

Don't know about head gasket material, but Flex Seal worked great in repairing my gear shift handle in my 2009 Mustang.
Haha! I have a buddy who did the paste for a replacement head gasket on his wife's Toyota Starlet. It ran fine with that for the rest of it's life. 🤪

A heavy coat on the valve springs will dampen spring oscilation and allow for 20,000 RPM at .750 lift with even the heaviest valves.
Also works to replace the rubber in failed harmonic balancers. Note: may require additional time to fully cure.
Spray into spinning turbo to reduce impeller clearance and increase boost!

You should have tried to rerighten the head bolts to specs after you did the 2 burnouts before you hit the NOS. Because of the engine getting warmed up. I'm sure the flex seal was getting soft. It would have been interesting to see after the two burnouts park the blazer it let it sit and cool all night and the next day rerighten the head bolts and hit the NOS right out of the gate. That would be interesting to see how many shots it would have taken. I was impressed how long it did run for. I like the lab coats and goggles boys. especially wearing them in the stores.

We actually used standard blue permatex for a head gasket on our 351 windsor dirt track motor. Used it for the season and actually won a few races.
Maybe you should do a daily driver and see how long the flex seal head gasket will actually last?
You might also try and put some metal rings around the cylinder bores to help with the pressures!

I have an 02 outback with 240k on her, shes misfired from rich on 1 bank and lean on the other for 3 years, no exhaust, bad 02 sensor, constant oil leak, oil in the cooling system, shes skipped timing twice. Never needed a head gasket. Changed the oil once and just refilled since in the 26k I've owned her. I beat on her like hell, and she's my winter beater. She just won't die.
@@fl4shb4ckGaming I had a Jeep Cherokee like that with the inline 6. It leaked oil, burned oil, every light on the dash was on...but I ran it for years. I can't remember how many times I'd forget to add oil and it would lose all oil pressure, would be so low that it didn't show on the dipstick, and I'd hear it hammering rods before I'd remember to add a quart or 2. Since it leaked/burned so much oil I never had to change it and never changed the filter. It had close to 300k miles on it and I sold it for $500 still running great. It never once left me stranded.
I think if you utilized the old head gasket and spray that down it could repair any issues the old gasket may have had while still keeping the clearances.
I'm gonna try this on my Subaru if it comes down to it
Biggest lesson of this great video is how far one can of flex seal last 😂😂 great entertainment as always u see great things when the bald eagles are flying but seems like in a pinch this can save any drag strip trip stopped by head gasket get you the last run lol

Since y'all have that leftover flex seal, maybe you could see how it reacts as a traction compound? Y'all could try it as a tire plug as well for punctured tires by spraying it on the inside and outside of the tire. Surely there has to be more applicable uses for this wonder spray, and y'all may as well get your use out of all these cans ya got, cuz I don't think Jeffrey is gonna take em back at Lowes.

Actually, I went into get my tire patched up from a hole. The tire mechanic through patches on the inside of the tire, then he painted over all the patches with the flex seal. I still have the same tire on my car after another 10k miles

Flex seal a car's inner panels to see if it will work as sound dampening... Gotta be an insane system though. Get like four 18" Skar or Sundowns. Something that will definitely FULL-SEND the rattle factor to the next dimension!

@@twoeightythreez yea but they then added a fresh layer and put it back together, if anything letting it sit overnight made it worse because it left a hard line where it pooled and dried, and i'd bet money that is where it eventually failed, putting it back together after spraying it fresh and giving it a couple of hours to dry would probably work best.

When we bought out 35ft Winnebago motor home , we found it had the infamous Winnebago roof issue . We were quoted 12,000 to fix it .. I went and bough 6 gallons of flex seal , sanded down the roof . Cleaned it extremely well . I rolled the flex seal on and 2.5 years later it looks like the day we put it on . Costs me around $400 . Everyone on the forums told me it wouldn’t work , it would peel up in 1-2 months . Well 2.5 years later and still going strong
This summer tempted to spray frex seal around outside windows. The place i rent put in new windows. The draft coming in uses 3 times the heat and rain comes right in. I bet a good coat of flex seal stops the draft.

I’ve used the Flexseal to repair a couple 40in off-road tire. They never failed, replaced for bigger tires or I’d still be on them.

Should try machining then lapping both faces on something with iron block and heads using a whiff of assembly lube as the seal. You would be surprised just how much pressure that will hold if you get it ""optically flat"" and apply enough clamping force.

you should definitly try "prolong engine treatment" it claims that after using it for a while it can protect your engine even when you run out of oil for a broken oil pan
