Toluene and diesel is what ran on their turbo F1 cars on in the 80s. Toluene for the octane and bang and diesel for a longer burn time on the power stroke.
You should retry a HP pull with the original octane fuel after the brake clean to see if it cleaned the injectors and created better atomization of fuel, to get more HPs!!

I would love to see how a propane conversion would hold up to a race track. There are lots of propane conversions out there, but how would it hold up to the McFarland Science team stress test.
Propane is a great fuel for internal combustion engines. Only real problem is that it has way less energy per given unit of volume than gasoline. And unlike methanol it does not have the same cooling effect. I've seen 10 sec drag cars on propane in the past. This has not really been a thing lately but sure, I wouldn't mind seeing some testing done and a Mcfarland science test. They could use the Shyster for this. It's got a GM 4.3 V6 so if it blows up there are 10 million more out there

My son had an old homebuilt go cart with a well worn Briggs & Stratton engine. He used brake kleen to fire it up all the time. Right until he seized it up while on startup! I'm sure he was being REALLY generous with his sprays though. Scarred the crap out of the cylinder wall and snapped the flywheel shear key when it locked up. Good times....
Once ran a 1998 Ford explorder 2.5 miles on brake cleaner to get to my boys house when his fuel pump went out. I sat on the radiator support while he drove about 10 mph. Full break clean injected through the throttle body did the trick. Replaced the fuel pump, truck ran for years to come.
They do make reusable break clean sprayers where you just buy the fluid, put it in the container, then pressurize it with an air compressor, which might be a more cost effective and less wasteful option. Also might save a few brain cells lol

Had to have the mixture screw just about all the way out so would idle and turn the idle up, and have the chock out a bit so was rich enough going down the road. This was in a 1962 EK holden. Only 138ci 6 cylinder. Motor similar to the early chev 6 cylinder of the time. Only smaller cubic inch. Be interested to see what meths does in the LS lol.

Had a ball point pen explode in the pocket of a white uniform shirt when I was working for NAPA in the early eighties, chlorinated brake clean took every last bit of the ink out, no stain, no mess.. Stuff works a treat on car interior stains.. The flammable shite is useless. As one would expect from a "safe" nanny-state mandated version of a product. 😁

Fill the float bowl with brake clean and I can usually get around the building to the shop. I have also done this to cars with vapor lock issues. Although, horrendous spark knock on a hot engine.

I’ll tell you right now, tip small amounts of distilled water into your throttle body while the engine is idling. Use enough so the engine coughs and farts but doesn’t stall, repeat a few times or until performance improves. Basically steam cleaning your bores and valves so an oil change afterwards is probably not a bad idea.
Love this kind of science, more please! You really should be wearing your fire suits when performing experiments with fuel (with the lab coats over them of course), we want to see you guys be able to keep doing these if something went wrong

Once. I was running low on gas (02" Chevy Tahoe stage cam 5.3) but had 3 gallons of tranny fluid (clean) & 5 gallons of diesel.. my truck was on less than a 1/4 tank.. I had over 30milez to the next town 20 miles to nearest truckstop... Ran like ah champ .

i drove so many times my old carburated shitbox, when i had no money for gas, with brakeclean, perfumes, pest control spay, lighter fluid... really just any stuff what burns that i could find, in the tank, with some wd-40 of course and that thing worked and still works perfect even to this day
Cletis, y’all should find a clapped out like Chevy cavalier wagon late 80s early 90s and run it on some atf in it and see if it cleans the valve train up in it. I had an old 86S 10/3 motors 2.8 that would not blow up no matter how hard I tried. Had a rear main leak in it and before changing the oil I added 2 1/2 quarts of ATF to it and it cleaned valve train up. Then filled it with rotella and it ran fine on it and slowed the leak down. Had a toggle switch for my blower, good ol primer rattle can special.
Propane or natural gas could be a good fuel to try next. It’s been used successfully in some production vehicles, but it would be fun to see a regular vehicle ran on it. Or maybe try camp fuel bottles from the sporting good store. 😛
Canada has a ton of current model vehicles that run on NG, and you can get LP or NG conversions for just about any vehicle. Just lower fuel mileage and little lower HP.
Propane/Compressed gas conversions were extremely popular up until the 1970s because it was much cheaper. My family ran their farm equipment originally on compressed butane, then switched to propane for all their tractors and trucks.

You should go for the 55 gallon drum of brake clean. It is expensive, but overall, way cheaper than many cans of brake clean.
Way better for the environment too vs using thousands of cans a year that go in the trash

Try to run it on just octane booster. With the oil replaced with kerosene of course
You can buy brake clean by the gallon/barrel and fill up pump pressurized spray bottles. Much cheaper than buying cans by the case load.

i drove so many times my old carburated shitbox, when i had no money for gas, with brakeclean, perfumes, pest control spay, lighter fluid... really just any stuff what burns that i could find, in the tank, with some wd-40 of course and that thing worked and still works perfect even to this day

Cletis, y’all should find a clapped out like Chevy cavalier wagon late 80s early 90s and run it on some atf in it and see if it cleans the valve train up in it. I had an old 86S 10/3 motors 2.8 that would not blow up no matter how hard I tried. Had a rear main leak in it and before changing the oil I added 2 1/2 quarts of ATF to it and it cleaned valve train up. Then filled it with rotella and it ran fine on it and slowed the leak down. Had a toggle switch for my blower, good ol primer rattle can special.
I think you should try diesel as the fuel and let Nate try to tune that. It would be very interesting to see.
Diesel won't light off in a low compression gasoline engine.

The diesel would need to be heated way up before entering the fuel rails.

I've heard you can tune a old carb Chevy 350 to run on diesel so it would be cool to see you guys try that on any gas motors.
I think it would be neat to see a fuel additive video using the same setup. how much additive can run mixed in 25/75, 50/50, 75/25, 100%?
Propane or natural gas could be a good fuel to try next. It’s been used successfully in some production vehicles, but it would be fun to see a regular vehicle ran on it. Or maybe try camp fuel bottles from the sporting good store. 😛
Canada has a ton of current model vehicles that run on NG, and you can get LP or NG conversions for just about any vehicle. Just lower fuel mileage and little lower HP.
Propane/Compressed gas conversions were extremely popular up until the 1970s because it was much cheaper. My family ran their farm equipment originally on compressed butane, then switched to propane for all their tractors and trucks.

WD is really flammable. It's the propellant that's used to force the oil out.
So wd 40 from can has butain propellant the oil has knock issues ....butain no knock issues add compression or NOx
