The description of the effect of the virus bomb was just as horrific if not more so than some descriptions of the effects of the Ebola virus on infected patients. Imagine bleeding out of your pores as your insides are turning into mush....that's Ebola hemorrhagic fever and what I described is only the beginning. This was a fictional bomb with its effects described with fictional prose, yet rooted in reality; just makes the sequence all the more terrifying. And tragic
They may personally feel like they aren't human anymore, so far removed physically from baseline humanity but deep down inside they're just like us, and that's probably one of the only things they are secretly afraid of, aftrid to admit it to themselves and each other.

I keep finding my favorite moments aren't the ones of the side we follow winning. But the ones where we see them losing and how they react. When I started reading the book, I was hoping to find a moment of glory like this…and sure thing I was given that and more. Honor, duty and self sacrifice in defiance to Horus….to die by their own hand and not by their traitor brothers. Would not have imagine a better way to go…..SEND ME OUT WITH A BANG!!! Those that died there were the loyalist remnants of the traitor legion, Instvan was the traitor's method of purging them, anyone who did not wholly agree with the traitor cause was placed on that planet so they would die. It is said that the emperor used them to create the legion of the damned.
I remember reading this as if it was just yesterday. I am not ashamed to say that this was the first the only time I cried during reading Horus Heresy (so far)

I think Terminator armor is air tight, more so than regular marine armor. The author did say the virus my it's way through the breather grille which may not have been built for that kind of protection. Who would have ever thought that a space Marine would have to be exposed to the virus bomb.
They are for a very limited duration fully self sufficient and can be sealed off. But the life eater is designed to counter this as it not just is able to dissolve organic tissues but also unorganics like metals and especially plastics. Meaning if they had void sealed their armor, it wouldnt have done anything at all to safe safe them
This is why Warhammer wins. It's not fancy, the weapons are not phenomenal, or as efficient or perfect as other universes. But they are so brutal, blunt, so hateful, so absolutely bloody and indiscriminate that there is no stopping them.
i mean, a contagion that can wipe out a planetary population is about as perfect/efficient as it gets for WMD. warhammer is just so unapologetically over the top and insane, which is what makes it fun. its just rule of cool and nothing else matters. lore inconsistency and power balance is secondary as long as what is happening is cool and insane

i think a problem is that you dont understand anything of the context of the video. I have some basic knowledge of warhammer after the heresy but I barely understood anything in here. I know the virus, I know dreadnoughts and I know mechanicus (which i assume the hard to hear voice is?). I dont think anyone without the proper context can understand much less appreciate the writing and would get into 40k
Virus Bombs are a Biological Weapons, Are you made of cells? Well, not anymore. It also creates an inflamable gas. It makes you into gasoline and then burns you, just like everything the Virus touches. It's a form of Exterminatus after all.
