- In todays video we succumb to the workshop of games and talk about it in a half video essay/ half "I don't know how to write a coherent script" sort of way. Join the dimwit wellington boot man as he tries to reconcile with the lost time that he could have spent finishing the critically acclaimed CRPG Baldur's Gate 3.
Apparently Darktide penance update is out so next vid is probably gonna about that :) Then rogue trader next, although I havent even started it yet so we'll see. - เกม

Well I hate them now after what they did recently

Started with Darktide. Listened to lore. Now painting my first tech priest figure.
I praise the Omnissiah on team chat everytime I fix something in my IT job.
I plan a tatoo with "the Emperor protects" inscription.
Send help.
When I saw your thumbnail, my mind just said: "Ultra Emotional Damage"
40k was, is and always will be a dark satire. Especially of the 80's in Britain. It's 2000ad as a game (though there is a judge dredd game too..) it's deep, inherently silly, it's grim- most people eat corpse startch made from corpses.. and it's absolutely superb.
I got into 40k during high school, when I played the first DoW game. Now look at me, spent 1000 hours on Darktide already and have a Baneblade that I just painted 3 months ago on my table all the time.
I wanted to play the tabletop game but didn't have money so I got into the 3D printer scene, then I didn't have a space for the 3D printer so I got into the video games, and then from the video games I ended up on Tabletop Simulator playing the tabletop game, and now I'm looking at a handful of infantrymen and a tank knowing full-well that even if I wanted to get more and be able to play, it would cost more than I could afford. Across 4 years, they've gotten 3 coats of paint and will never be completed xD
My buddy recently convinced me to go to a game shop. Next thing I knew, I was walking out with a kill teams starter kit and a chaos space marine raptor squad. Now I’m building some Wulfen while waiting for my space wolves terminator squad to come Monday. I don’t know how to stop.
Now Youv ever heard, the Tragedy of Malal the Vanished God? its not a tale GW will tell you that for sure.
Used to play 40k in the late 80s/early 90s.
Drifted away, life, etc.
In a fit of nostalgia, decided to take a look at that old, funny game I used to play...
🤯🤯🤯
Funnily enough, DRG is what pushed me over the edge to start collecting models, ever since the Leagues of Votann dropped.
Emperor's grace, 40k isn't that grutting dark.... can ye nae see the light? HIS Light? Can you not see the joy?
I hope darktide gets an offline patch would suck for this game to just die like the crew one day
lmao savage
Thank the emperor that I had bricky's content to learn about 40ks lore, because if I didn't, I would've been as lost as an ork with a mid fight crisis.
my first dose of 40k was walking past a shop when I was 8 or 9.
that was roughly 20 years ago and hearing people just getting into it makes me truly feel like one of the gang, "one of the lads" you might say, despite not fitting into the typical category.
I have now become the hermit sitting on the hill, watching you all walk the warrior's path, poking as you fall for the oldest tricks in the book.
there will never be enough.
you want the grey.
you must have the grey.
"Unwavering Portrayal of Grimdark" , sigh.😮💨
Darktide is the game that got me to pull the trigger on finally buying models. And now it has its own board game coming out. We've come full circle.
I think the greatest thing about Darktide is that it took some of the most small-time 40k units and made them look and feel awesome and powerful, the guard veteran, sanctioned psyker and priest are low-stat cannon fodder units, and while ogryns have a decent stat line, their models are dated and derpy, and other 40k media always portray them as full potato meat mountains, but the way theyre all represented in Darktide makes them out to be absolute badasses.
My introduction when I started being curious about the franchis was the "Children of the Omnissiah Extended" video on TH-cam. I now too possess a box of overpriced plastic catching dust on a shelf.
I think my first introduction was army men stop motions by „The General Moe“ when I was like 10. in many vids he talked about warhammer 40k. Fast forward to a few days ago, after seeing some meme vids a few months ago, I thought: hey, dawn of war winter assault looks pretty cool. A few days of committing orc genocide in skirmish mode later, my Xmas wish is gonna be the newest cadian shocktroopers patrol pack.
Darktide was my start into the 40k universe and now I’m hooked, but just on the games thankfully lol. Maaaan that fuckin MUSIC tho. Jesper Kyd went SUPER hard.
Special shout out to Mechanicus composer Guillaume David as well. So so good.
Years ago, I was out with my girlfriend on my birthday, went to a game store, and bought my first model, a Tyranid hive tyrant. I told the shop owner that I wasn't really planning on getting any more, and that it would be my only model just so I could own one. He told me that that was what everyone says.
Two and a half years later, I have a 2000 point necron army, half built and being slowly painted, a small tyranid army, a small space marine army, and half of my Leviathan Box that I preordered is still sitting on the sprues. Help me, I'm in too deep
As an old Star Wars or Star Trek fan once said "You have to love the franchise though you are not in love with it, but there comes a time when you have to say goodbye"
Darktide got me to read Eisenhorn, and Eisenhorn made me a fan. My impression of the franchise had been that it was so grimdark and absurd as to be ridiculous. Seeing the more grounded, everyday side of the universe really let me wrap my head around it as a setting I could be invested in.
there is a certain sadness in watching people joining a thing as it dies. as much as 40k fans enjoy their GW-induced angst, their corporate executives may just have over-stepped their customer disdain. not to worry, the executives in question will be fine as their personal wealth is in no way tied to corporate profitability; but the company itself is rapidly going the way of disney, and notable video game makers. GW is already at the stage where executives and their shills are pushing away their hordes of zombie-like supporters telling them to leave the game...
Bg3 will always be there for you. Give in to Rogue. Play an officer and say HI to Sister Argenta for me.
Played Fire Warrior at babysitters as a youth. Got Warhammer Dark Crusade for PC cus cool packaging, listened to Warhammer Lore for fun, started watching builds, ended up getting first mini set last September.

@@theancientsamof course its the new changes. Most stupid thing ever. Destrying the hole thing. Especislly when you realised and hear the rumors that it is Amazon that forced this into the contract with GW
@@theancientsamMany reasons. Constant price creep priced me out of the hobby despite having an army that’s 90% second hand stripped down and restored. Codexes designed specifically to power creep and spat on the concept of balance. The changes be damned - I’m an Ork player. They’re sexless space mushrooms in the setting.
I only recently started getting into 40k after they revealed the gameplay for space Marine 2 a few months ago. I was watching one of my favorite TH-camrs react to it and thought it looked really cool. So o decided to look up a lore video so i could understand what was actually happening in the story when i got to play the game. I thought to myself "i love mgs and that has a super complex story, so this shouldn't be that hard to comprehend". Two hours later i was still trying to understand why the god damn super toads wouldn't just give the poor space Egyptians some god damn sunscreen, but from then on i knew i was hooked. Still haven't bought any minis yet because im scared my dumbass self would fuck up the painting but yeah im officially in stage one of the Warhammer 40k fan infection.
I'd *heard* about it for a while, but what got me into it was TTS, followed up by the Ciaphus Cain series.

Poor Warhammer.
As if the Sisters of Silence/Battle, the female Assassins, the Imperial Guard female soldiers and the Eldar/Tau female warriors aren't enough.
We fans must respond to this intolerable corruption like this: Waaagh!
There are so many amazing strong female characters in Warhammer that everyone likes because they are beautiful and well written.
This other stuff is just giving the dog the bone and then everything else follows.
Hadn't even heard of Warhammer 40k until i saw Syama Pedersen's Astartes and ive binge watched 40k lore since then.
Leaving the fandom, actually. Thanks GW. You're right. I won't be missed. Neither will you, GW. But your creation...you've destroyed.
Dawn of war got me hooked. I love 40k for the same reason, it is a sprawling fascinating setting that isn’t as grimdark as portrayed.

Realizing 40k sucks so you stick with 30k instead
Yeah, pretty much.
Apparently the slow descent into madness was made worse by the incursion of Eldritch Horror’s from another realm of existence. But that might have been reconned after all it happened a century or two after the Heresy ended.
1:13 I think the candles will smell like:
T’au: lavender or yellow flowers like daffodils
Tyranids: dogshit litterally.
Space marines: like if an old folks home discovered scented candles and those things you plug in the wall
Slannesh: either GW have found a common somber childhood memory and put it in the candle, otherwise it will probably just smell like burning as a troll or lavender because of its colour.
The gaurd: either fresh meat or gunpowder
Word of advice: Watch Arbitor Ian’s video about clickbait in the Fanbase. This community is almost as infuriating as the company they hate and he explains why.
i got introduced to it when i was 18, through a new friend. and my and my buddies being lovers of sci-fi. loved 40k and the outrageous crazy crap that is 40k. and already being "humanity first" sci-fi nerds, we loved the imperium and immediately accepted the emperor. next thing I know, on the daily, we're making jokes or "for the emperor" jokes or references. There was a screenshot going around where a guy said he read about 10 Warhammer books and decided he knows enough to participate in fan discussions, and tried to chat on a 40K fan forum. "I was promptly told that I don't know shit and that I should shut my heretical piehole"

Do you remember the scene from dawn of war where the space marines are fighting the orcs for some hill? It was glorious.
the intro cutscene. It still holds up
Ah yes, Dawn of War intro: A normal game of king of the hill.
Ah yes DoW music videos, what got me into 40K.
DoW 1 is what got me into 40k in the first place. Then I kinda just started consuming lore at a frightening pace, then books, then watching hundreds of hours of lore videos, then . . .
I haven't gotten into the actual tabletop, partly because I'd have a hard time to find anyone to play with, partly because the whole painting miniatures thing puts me off, partly because of the outrageous cost, and partly because I despise GW and don't want to give them more money than I already have.
Imperial Guard, Necrons, and Eldar were my favorites in DoW. IG because I like the idea of all these regular dudes being up against all this horrific shit, Necrons because they are ridiculously OP in the game in my opinion, and Eldar in multiplayer because I can be annoying as fuck with them.
"Oh, you think you've got me cornered and all you have to do is break through my defences?" *teleports my entire base away with the webway*
I also tended to spam out an entire river of fire prism tanks, so many that I'd have to jump them over obstacles to get them out faster because they clogged the only entrance to my base.
Also, with Necrons: "Oh, you killed my entire army? Well, let me teleport in a new army. Oh, and here's my Necron Lord with the resurrection orb. Now I have double the army. Unit cap, what's that?"
Dawn of War will always be the best ambassator of the Warhammer IP
Chaos corruption always finds a way to seep into the masses
First time I laid eyes on a space marine It was love at first sight, of course I was like 15 and didn't realize there was more to W40K than just Dawn of War, so imagine my enthusiasm when I realized there was a whole world of little plastic men waiting to be painted -I've always wondered just how much heavy lifting W40K video games did for the franchise.
