    Before installing the oil filter cover, make sure to blast some break cleaner inside the two screw holes to get any residual oil out of them. Otherwise you might strip out the threads in the aluminium when torquing the screws down to 6 Nm.

    Thanks for the service settings. The instructions from KTM don't tell you to hold the set button. Go figure? You guys are the best.

    Do the adventure models not have magnets in the middle of the oil screens? The 790 duke includes magnets in them and every time iv changed oil they've been completely covered with filings.

    Pro Tipp: You dont need to unscrew the tankpads, the attached rubber tips slide out of the Tank when you pull the plate straight down.

    Hi bro. I bought KTM 890 ADVENTURE S. I don't know the characteristics of KTM motorcycles. What is the engine oil change cycle?

      Most KTM 790 and 890 Adventure bikes call for the break-in oil change at 620 miles and then every 9,300 miles after that. But you will want to check the service manual for your specific motorcycle to be sure.

    Geez, having to remove a bunch of parts before even getting to the engine. I wonder if KTM could make draining oil and changing filter as easy as changing the air filter, which is a snap! Do you really have to change the O rings after 600 miles?

      I have to pull the skid plate off all 3 of my bikes to change oil
      No difference between them or even the GSXR which requires the fairings off to change the oil without making a mess

    The filter need to be filled with oil before putting back :) very important !

      ​@@scottymactiles the oil pump fills it for you lol
      So fill it or don't, (I don't) but always check the oil level properly after changing and adjust if necessary.
      The 790/890 needs to be checked at operating temperature so the filter will be plenty full of oil when checking (and topping off if necessary)

      The first link in the description of this video will take you to a page with all the parts used in this video. KTM makes an oil filter service kit that comes with the oil filter, oil screen and O-rings for the oil change that you can use instead of ordering OEM parts individually.

    I don't understand the logic of warming up before an oil change , oil is designed to flow quickly when cold , another thing all the used oil has pooled at the oil pan , starting the motor will only make the oil sprayed all over inside the engine and finally aluminium strips easily when hot even if you torque them

      I am not sure he meant to warm up to normal engine temperature, I think he means warm it up a little to help make the oil more fluid. I do agree that starting the engine sprays the oil everywhere but I am not sure it makes that much of a difference

      the owners manual specifically calls for draining and checking the oil at operating temperature (4 bars filled on the temp gauge)
      and oil flows more efficiently at higher temperatures, the laws of physics and viscosity say so

    please use nm, when indicating torque. KTM and euro bikes use nm. the KTM manual indicates nm. some of us only have metric torque wrenches. thank you

      @@Matt43 Guys used to do all their own work on dirtbikes, now they dont even change their own tires, everything gets done at the shop for 100.00 an hour....same with people I ride bicycles with, needs sealant in tires, goes to shop.....adjust handlebars? Take it to the shop....hard to believe................my 890R takes maybe 15 minutes to change oil.
