03:12 Your clutch free-play measurement is wrong. According to KTM's repair manual, the 5mm is measured at the outside end of the lever (near the bar end) not the inside end (near the hinge.) Your free-play as shown is much too loose.

I'm glad I watched this. I had adjusted all the play out of my clutch. Heading out to the garage to make it about 5 mm.

David, I really appreciate your videos. I got my 790 R Rally ... let me see, how long ago was that..... two days ago. I am watching all your videos and they are so helpful.

I have a 790 R and I have to say that the service manual is the most disorganized and confusing manual I have ever read. How about a video on the COMPLETE first service (620 mile) recommendations and a video on how to adjust the chain tension - because the manual and the info on the bike itself is very confusing. Since, at least here in he USA - KTM dealers are few and far between - (for me the closest is 4.5 hours away), it would sure be nice if they had a clear and easy to read service manual.

Are you sure about the shifter adjustment? When you turn the adjustment rod it moves the shifter not the shifter shaft so the sensor should stay aligned. However if there is a bunch of mud or extra friction on the shift lever pivot point it may me possible to misaligned the sensor but it will realign after the first shift.

I have one on order for spring. Do you recommend additional crash protection for the bike - ie a stronger skid/bash plate, crash bars, etc... or is the bike protected enough right from the factory. I ride ATV trails, many of which have lots of softball size rocks. Thanks

We always opt for stronger than factory crash protection when available. We are running the Outback Motortek bars and skid plate on our 790.

Too clean and tidy garage. May I came and work there for one hour? You will see the difference and get more credibility! 😆

It's KTM's education center. They keep it pretty tidy.
