Regarding Dalamadur it also resembles Southeast Asian Dragons or Naga Dragons, which can have forelimbs without hindlegs and often have many forward curving spikes or horns as well as shoulder spikes like Dalamadur. Southeast Asian dragons are one of the less well known dragons, to the point that if you google search them you usually just get East Asian dragons so Naga Dragon usually is better to to look them up with, as such it seemed worth mentioning even if it is just to to mention these really cool dragons. A Filipino dragon, Bakunawa, might have been a Southeast Asian dragon that gave extra inspiration to Dalamadur's design, as in many myths Bakunawa tries ascending into the sky to eat the moon. This ascension could be represented with Dalamadur climbing it's mountain and Bakunawa's astral theme could be represented by Dalamadurs meteorite shower attack.
@@xJayst I also want to had this In MH4U the dalamadur is only a juvenile... So yes that means that it is far far bigger than that in reality. Also you can see his long skeleton in the putrid vale, from top to bottom. this fact alone made me adore the world building progress they made over the years. In MHFU (my very first MH) There is a giant Crab that has for shell the skull of a Lao shan Long
Rathian feels like she doesn't know how to fight but is stalling for time. One thing with Rathalos and Rathian at least in high rank is fighting one can summon the other.
7:15 actually the term you should use is tetrapodal, since quadrupedal mean to be walking on 4 limbs, which most elders are, and most flying wyvern aren't!
You got a sub out of me. Love your videos, I love just about everything you mentioned about monster hunter but the world itself is what got me sucked in. I’m actually working on my very own video and you being a small channel with great content has inspired me. Looking forward to more from you! Have a good one!
Wonderful. Simply Wonderful. (Personal side tangent) On the topic of Elder Dragons and their place in this series, I want to discuss the Black Dragons. If Elder Dragons as a whole are above normal monsters, then I dare say that the Black Dragons are on a level above even other Elders. Not just in power, but in essence. If the other Elders are like the embodiments of natural forces like storms, earthquakes, tsunamis and the like, then I would consider the Black Dragons as primal concepts. What I mean by that is this, they embody fears that are held by every living being, and that they can't be permanently destroyed. Example: Fatalis is Death, his name literally means the Deadly one and will mercilessly kill anyrhing that comes too close. Example two: Alatreon is Discord. This is based in how Alatreon can use all of the elements, but isn't in control of them, and how the dragon actively isolates itself from other lifeforms, regardless of how or where. (This is a fear when considering the fact that a majority of living beings rely on each other for survival, so anything that could internally break apart the group or cause them to fight each other would be a threat to their shared survival) These are just a few examples, what do you think?
Oh definitely, Black Dragons are a step above “normal” Elder Dragons when it comes to the mystique and awe around them. I just purposely simplified it in the video so the video doesn’t get bloated for people who might not have played monster Hunter yet. But of course I fully agree with your take 😁
@@SwaxGuy we are the goats! Yes is personally think Rajang is harder but it's only because I fought Teostra so many times for fun that I could probably speedrun the hunt :D

Imagine Wilds having Elders so destructive, it requires more than 4 people to take it on. Closer to what World had with needing almost a full lobby to efficiently take out Kulve Taroth or similar. But just roaming around the map while your working on other monsters.

I perfectly understand why you simplified them, this series is a bit on the big and sometimes complex side of things.
Absolutely nailed it.
YES!
