I played with Steve for a while, (at school not professionally). An excellent goalkeeper and a great guy! Glad Steve made it professionally; thoroughly deserved it!

He was the keeper for Forest when I first fell in love with the club. Top player and seems like a great guy

    Hi Steve.
This just popped up on my you tube.
Some lovely snipets. Watching this while Leicester are giving Forest a drubbing.
A long time since we were at QEGS and Kniveton Park Rangers.
    I’m still supporting DCFC.
Seen the highs in the 70s and under Arthur Cox and Jim Smith.
Seen all the lows as well. So glad we didn’t lose the club; a bit too close for comfort. Now on the way back!!!!
You’ve had an interesting time being at Forest, Derby and Leeds - great rivals.
I agree that we had such a great time to watch football. Now it is so distant and commercialised.
Take me back to the Baseball ground any day with all its faults.
Hope you and yours are all well, continued good health.
    Martin North

The European ban for english clubs was a killer for the Forest side

Ironic that the Italians escaped punishment, the FA should have sued UEFA IMHO, ironic that the English Premier League is now the gold standard and where many great players want to be.

Love Sutts , great guy . Hearing his story is great . Cloughy had Sutts parents a phone fitted as a signing on fee so he can get in touch with his parents when he is at Forest ! Where have you ever heard anything like that before ? Brilliant

    • @seltaeb9691
      @seltaeb9691 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

The phone was a bribe plain & simple. Did he pay the monthly bills?

It’s always gone on in football. In the late 1960’s Trevor Francis’s parents were reluctant for him to sign as an apprentice with Birmingham City because of how far it was from his home in Plymouth. Birmingham’s chief-scout noticed they didn’t own a washing-machine, so bought them a brand new one & they then duly allowed 15 year old Trevor to sign...obviously the rest is history 😉

Kevin Hector played for Bradford Park Avenue before signing for Derby. We had to sell him because the club was in financial dire straits and he was the most valuable player.

Clough and Paisley were chalk and cheese, but (admittedly as a non-player) I have masses of respect for them as Managers. In terms of quotes alone, Clough is up there with Shankly, another great.

Good keeper. Kept Liverpool down to single figures when 10+ looked more likely against a good Forest side. I have a soft-spot for Cloughie and Forest.

Yes great player ,but not till Clough and Taylor straightened him out, he was a drunken thug going nowhere ,same as Lloyd who was supposed be finished ,what a central defensive pair they were ,and Clough brought the best out other players like Robertson. He would refuse to pay players who got suspended he hated players arguing with the ref .

@@barblessable Cloughie was a tactical and man management genius IMHO; he kept matters very simple in both of these facets.

Looks no different, thought he a good keeper , then Clough put in Crossley whi didn't think was as good, deserved an England cap I thought , late 80s top performances, had some hard people to budge out the way, Shilton, van Brokolin , Seggers who I thought was decent especially at Wimbledon even with out the Brown envelopes

Clough was a bully & violent with it. It's not normal to smack a young lad in the face, starting out in the first team after a bad half. I know he's idolised but this part of him needs addressed. I was in the army but never got smacked in the face ('60s '70s) when I effed up, shouted at yes. Clough done this to a lot of young players & he was ruthless to players & dashed hearts. He went to Leeds & straight away wanted to bully them by insulting them. It was a trait & not a good one. Did Matt Busby, Berti Mee Don Revie Bob Paisley go around smacking hard young players in the face? No. He doesn't get my vote as a manager.
