Hey Ashley, I'm kind of going through a fashion enlightenment aka trying to dress better and I've been only really looking into male created fashion channels like Alpha M and teachingmensfashion, but it's so nice to have a female's perspective, especially one who's an expert and passionate and know what she's talking about!
Best jacket I ever got was a smart casual blazer from a charity shop/thrift store. I paid £1 for it, I washed it on a wool cycle and it came out great. Fits perfectly, I love a bargain
Harrington, Bomber and Denim are the holy trinity of casual jackets lol.
Why not the biker?
I would take a field jacket over either the ha6rrington or the bomber. Looks nicer, can be dressed up up or down as well as a harrington and is more utilitarian because of the extra pockets, which I love.

A bomber and Harrington are almost the same thing lol. Harringtons just have the slight addition of a plaid lining and the button up collar. I’d say leather jackets, trucker jackets, and Harrington/bombers

I vouch for Baracuta G9 for Harrington Jacket, although pricy it has great fit, waterproof, and durability. Great jacket for rough-and-slick gentleman. cheers

I know right? At least give the man entry level swiss watch like Tissot, Certina or any good japanesse watch like Seiko or Orient. I wear my Seiko sarb017 alpinist(green dial) and it can be dressed up or down depending on the watch strap.

You want the look of respect that is earned by a well curated wardrobe and a DW just says "I bought what was in front of me because the internet told me to". Unless it was a gift in which case I am a jerk for saying that. If you are after that "look" I suggest Timex, or Seiko, or Orient... or citizen. Or you can look in the used market for a vintage Bulova such as the 23 and 30 jewels. or finding a company who's story captures your imagination.

I've just bought a burgundy one of Merc.
I usually prefer to go to blue colours, but, the idea to give other option to my wardrobe oriented my choose.
I think it's easy to combine with blue jeans, blue / beige/ grey chinos and brown desert boot and brogue that I already have.
I miss some white sneaker but give time to time.....
Thanks for the suggestion Ashley! I picked up a Ben Sherman Harrington the other day and it's great. I've always felt that there was a "missing link" in my wardrobe between light windbreaker and full on heavy coat for those brisk spring/autumn days. As you say it works perfectly for the casual to dressy situations. Kudos!

now, I want to ask you a question, "is it plausible to have two colors of the same item? like, navy blue or khaki, for instance in one wardrobe!
I notice that you use often black dress shoes. Is brown not more versatile? Black is something that is used on formal occassions, at least here in Europe. I personally like to wear leather brown shoes, from light brown to mor like cognac.

The tan jacket would have matched the second outfit way more. The blue jackey would have looked matched the first outfit
Glad you're highlighting the Harrington jacket. I have one and I love it, except I think it should be a bit slimmer in the sleeves as sometimes they can be a bit bulky.
Still, kudos for bringing up the coolness of it. It reminds me more of a sort of Guy Ritchie, working class London gangster look...but not strictly that. Like you said, it's versatile.

+Ashley Weston I love my Harrington jacket so much, I decided to get a black one. I don't regret having my navy one taken in (it just seems to work better for my build since I'm a bit leaner and 5'7"), so I'll be doing the same for the black one.

I love Harrington jackets. I see that the first look is kind of mod-inspired. I prefer not to wear black oxfords, though. I think a brown wingtip or leather loafer would be more coherent in the look. Great pick with the jackets, though. I'd definitely trust you with my wardrobe, especially considering that I wouldn't let anyone else do so. Great work, keep going! :)

Ashley I like a shirt style collar dark brown leather suede jacket with slash pockets and button enclosure rather than a zip.

I only have enough money to invest in one, so which would you choose for casual spring/fall use (and sometimes business casual) to go with button shirts, tee sand henleys

Should harrington jacket's sleeves stack like the navy one in the video? My harrington jacket's sleeves is too long and it's button cuff (very loose). I've my tailor shorten them around wrist(like suit's fit) but the body still loose. Is that okay?
Ashley, I am fairly tall and have had trouble getting the fit right on a harrington jacket. How long is this jacket supposed to be? The one I bought sits exactly below my belt if I'm standing relaxed therefore movement can cause it to rise up. Is this supposed to be a short jacket as it appears a little longer on your models!

Hi, good video, I also agree with navy as first and tan as second. I'm looking at Gap new Harrington jacket as an affordable option. It's 100% nylon though, not cotton. I'm also wondering if you can wear a navy harrington with navy chinos? That's why I'm considering a second in tan because I wear navy chinos all the time.

Black dress shoes with jeans? Not a great pairing if you ask me. Brown is usually the better option.
I actually just got a Baracuta G9 in black a few weeks ago. I have nothing against navy, but black will still have contrast with both khakis and denim. A navy jacket with dark blue jeans looks a little monochromatic in my opinion.

I disagree with khaki. Maybe depending on what your style is. Green is better or black. Navy is a good choice though.

That is NOT a Harrington. The English made Baracuta jacket was worn on the TV series Peyton Place. The Baracuta was worn by a character named Harrington in the series.
I really thought you knew what you were talking about with the Harrington - all your comments were spot on. And then you suggested pairing black oxford dress shoes with jeans and completely lost all credibility. That's as dumb as pairing sneakers with a suit and for the same reason: disparate and discordant levels of formality. The better choice by far would be a pair of chukkas or a more casual pair of brogue derbies. Dress oxfords? Hard no.
