Nice video, but Shinkansens are NOT MAGLEV. They operate on wheels the entire time. They are working on a MAGLEV version but it is currently under construction.
This is great, thank you for coming to Japan Guga! Thank you for talking about manner in train too, people like you is just amazing. I'm happy you enjoyed many things!
Lol, ASMR 🙂 I did exactly the same thing when I visited Japan, and was blown away at every turn. The respect for food and everything the Japanese show is mind boggling. Went to the fish market, purchased some knives, Nonbei Yokocho in Tokyo and on and on. Of 45 countries visited, Japan is number 1.
I got your book 3 weeks ago and I'm loving it! The effort is very visible that is put into the book and the quality is 100/10. Love your videos! I learned a lot from you, thank you!
If you're in Japan, you should come to Hokkaido (northern Japan, also where I am!) We are famous for our meat unlike the rest of Japan, including our beef and especially lamb. "Genghis Khan" is our signature barbecue of lamb meat that is usually only found here.
There's quite a few places in Japan that are famous for different kinds of meat including horse and other a bit unusual stuff. But I agree that Hokkaidou is great. Sometimes doesn't feel as Japanese as the other main islands though. Not surprising given how recently it was integrated compared to the other regions.
The bullet train was really memorable because it was so very smooth. Very luxurious. I'm praying that I get to go back to Japan and relive some old memories but also make many new ones. I really get homesick for it.
As an Englishman who got engaged in Germany, I can say the second most impressive thing is that German trains are 'not on time'. You should see how bad it is in England lol
Given how orderly and disciplined Japanese society is, I'm pretty sure a late train would cause massive problems, unlike in the west which would just be an inconvenience.
6:30 "omakaseshimasu" literally means "I leave/entrust it to you" so you can say "omakase" in every Japanese restaurant and it basically means "you decide!" Perfect if you can't decide what to eat.
1:50 The bullet train currently used is not a maglev type and uses regular wheels. They are working on new ones that go 300mph instead of current 200mph and those will be of maglev type.
If your a steak lover. You have to try A5 wagyu at least once in your life. It’s definitely an experience you will never forget. I started with American wagyu then the Australian wagyu. Worked my way all the way up to A5. To experience the different grades of wagyu.
Well .. go! You need around €2500,- per person for 3 weeks. €1000,- is your flight ticket, €500,- is transport, (trains, but you can use the night busses to save some money) €500,- is hotels (capsule hotels are very cheap) and the rest is for food and gifts.
just got back from a trip to japan with my partner, well worth every penny! it was amazing, highly recommend Kyoto, Osaka and Nara! Whole trip cost us 6k AUD, and that's including the $1000 tablet i bought over there 😂
It's cheaper than people are saying, Tokyo is expensive, you can get a JR train pass being foreign, i spent less in 2 weeks in Japan then 4 days in Adelaide and i was in first class shinkansens and proper hotels.
Guga i could watch you eating and reviewing all day! 1. You are honest. When you dont like it, its obvious. And thats awesome! 2. You holiday the way I want to! Food focused, with a side of sight seeing!! Wish you and your wife can travel the world to make these videos!
I'd eat quail like that in a heartbeat. I've always wanted to go on a Japanese food tour like that. Eel skewers are on my list, hope you managed to try that too.
A minor thing about the bento boxes. They are meant to be eaten at room temp or cold, so everything prepared in them have been considered. Crisp things (like tempura) will go soft and that's fine, all safe to eat still. Don't expect a microwave/heating service when buying bentos, and enjoy them as is.
Guga! You made it! I work in Germany! As a FREAKING TRAIN EMPLOYER! THEY ARE FREAKING LATE! I can't stand Germany any longer, since I'm Asian!😢 But I want to be japanese! I don't watch German TV, Not even Subtitles! Never been there, that's why I admire, what you're doing! Bought a dry age fridge! Tried many of your experiments! And what you're experiencing is awesome! Just like your videos! 😊 I keep following you, you keep doing awesome videos!😃
Raw beef is very underrated. I’ve always eaten it, love it. Prefer it usually. Often slice and marinate with a good quality soy sauce and a good quality sesame seed oil. Delicious! Also it’s actually healthier as cooking beef removes an important nutrient, and reduced all nutrients some what.
Nice video, glad to know that Guga feels 'energy' of the place, like me, its a 5th sens that a lot of people have😄 Here in this part of France we eat raw beef mince too, its called 'Filet Americain' American filet (not US at all😄)its made rom raw beef minced, with mayo, hot sauce, onions, worcestershire sauce. Great taste and sandwich filler. Raw beef is delicious!
Guga’s business endeavor should be a Resturant in Miami. That’s a omakase wagyu and it’s all his recent or past experiments. He could totally teach his methods and build it all with his cookbook for sides and overall just a guga sampling
I love your channel and this is super fun watching you enjoy Japan! On the subject of the quail - I think that most people forget where and how and what it is they are eating - keep the head on and people go weird and I wish we did more of that and wasted less but alas. For me though when you're in another country or whatever it may be why on earth wouldn't you want to try it their way, either way it would be fun and tasty or not but still fun!
Hi guga, Great video! just FYI: The shinkansen (bullet train) does not use magnetic levitation. The example you gave of how the bullet train works is from the video of the Maglev, the line that is currently being developed.
I have also just recently tried omakase in Japan. It just make me open my mind to the fresh raw food, so delicious ! I hope to see more of this travelling food blog from you
Beef Heart is good, There's a yakitori place somewhere in Kyoto station inside a food court called 'Porta Dining' which also sells clothes and other items, but there was a place that sold beef heart yakitori and we got it without even knowing what it was, my cousins didn't like it so I had to eat theirs, you should go try it! 😋
Guga, i wish i knew you were going, i have spent the last 5 years in Japan, my Japanese wife and i are fans and would loved to contribute to your experience.
Quail is one of my favourite kinds of poultry. I would absolutely jump at the opportunity to get some fresh off the grill like that; it looks enticing.
Aw man, the quality of the food in Japan in general, it is insane! Would be great to go back there just because of the food! And usually Japanese people drink beer on the Shinkansen and some Bento box or other food is optional...the beer is the important part! :) And those twisted potatos on a stick are called "Tornado Potatos" here in Germany where I live. And concerning raw beef in Japan, 15 years ago, still even raw beef liver was allowed and I had some. Mmmm, never had so much raw beef in my life as in Japan :) Also I had raw chicken, which I did not like that much.
@@little_forest Falls es dich interessiert, Rinderleber kriegt man hier bei uns immernoch und das sogar recht billig. Muss man aber direkt beim schlachter holen und Glück haben das grade was da ist.
Um Guga, I think what you've ridden is not a MAGLEV train but a typical Shinkansen which use high voltage overhead electricity and large electric motors on all wheels... Like Tesla but very long and very fast. The Maglev one is still under testing and construction but once it's finished it would be twice as fast as the one you rode on.
I do have to point out that the Fushimi Inari Taisha is not the oldest shinto shrine in Japan (that is actually Izumo-taisha), however it is the most well-known. Ekiben (train bento) are convenient, I do find them slightly disappointing though.
They do have a Maglev system in Japan, but the bullet trains are still a good old steel on wheels standard gauge arrangement, just like a large part of Europe that do 300k+
1:49 that is true but it isn't at the same time, the current trains run on conventional rails and don't use maglev, japan is currently making a maglev line as i'm sending this comment but it isn't fully complete and won't be for another few years, and i do know that this is a foods channel and not a railfan channel but i just had to put it out there for you guys who want to know more
Guga, I enjoy your channel very much, but as a train fanatic, I have to correct you on this one: the bullet train in JP is not maglev. It still relies on the well known technology of wheels on rails, but obviously much more advanced. The maglev is still in development phase and it will take a while to become operational as they will have to build a whole new infrastructure of tracks and stations.
Guga, you are living my dream. Japan street food and restraunts is top of my bucket list. Im enjoying the content so much whike eating a pack of monster munch 😢

Testing has been finished. They are currently building it but it will take until the 30s to finish. If things go well.
I was just going to say this
Yea, this was the first thing I was like, uh, no. That’s not a maglev. Only China has a working maglev in daily use.
@@ScottBalkum and i think its only running on a short distance between Shanghai Airport and Shanghai city
@@kaltaron1284 thanks, I didn’t know they had actually started construction on it. I’ll correct my comment.

I'm surprise to see my favorite Pekora translator in a Guga comment section
I agree. Genghis Khan, Obihiro pork, Corn and Butter Ramen, Soup Curry, Seafood. And Classic of course.
I’ve seen him use Hokkaido wagyu several times, it’s great stuff! Hope tries the Genghis Khan recipe, that’s a hell of a name
I've been to Japan twice but haven't been to Hokkaido (yet!). I'm definitely going during my next trip and will check out that dish!
The bullet train was really memorable because it was so very smooth. Very luxurious. I'm praying that I get to go back to Japan and relive some old memories but also make many new ones. I really get homesick for it.
As a German the most impressive thing was the trains being on time
apparently it's not impossible for trains to be on time. who would have thought that? mindblowing actually.
As an Englishman who got engaged in Germany, I can say the second most impressive thing is that German trains are 'not on time'.
You should see how bad it is in England lol
