    When it comes to food, Japanese carriers and Air France are on another level. Some would argue they are not always the best, but they are always trying something new. Really turning the journey into a culinary experiment/expirience

      I mean it depends if it's a short or long haul flight. Short haul business class is just a little extra leg room, the experience being similar to economy. A long haul business class would be more comparable to the long haul first class to Japan shown.

    Important thing to remember when eating food in an airplane, food often tastes different and food can seem not as juicy as on the ground, because your mouth, nasal passages and sinuses are dryer.
    This dryness is caused by the climate inside of the airplane, it's important to bear this in mind when eating airline food as it is essentially another handicap that they face when catering for customers.
    Big fan, I look forward to enjoying watching the rest of the content from this series.

    My family flew JAL Business Class to Japan in 2019. I'm 6'2" so having that lay flat seat was amazing. And so much food! Get on the plane, get offered orange juice or champagne. Take off and then the menu comes out for "lunch", same Japanese or Western menu option and I chose the Japanese menu. I got a Japanese whiskey later on, took a nap for a few hours. When I got up I had the JAL curry rice and fell asleep for a couple hours more before landing.

    ***UPVOTE IF YOU AGREE***
    Uncle Guga! Its about time you bring Auntie into the fold every once in awhile! I think im speaking for the whole community when saying that we would love to see how your family reacts to your food or how much you all are enjoying these trips lately. I may be wrong in saying the whole community, but I do know an 8year old superfan who brings it up every time you mention Mrs. Guga or the kids. She says stuff like "I wish we could have seen his family's reaction too!" Every time they raid the food before a taste test and anytime you're on a trip.

    • @AcidJurassic

    • @joehooper89
      @joehooper89 ปีที่แล้ว

      @AcidJurassic if thats how she feels then there is nothing wrong with that and I completely respect that choice. But we don't know if that's the case or what. That type of caution is more common when it involves a political/adult oriented channel because of the inherant dangers involved. but it's usually a shy factor when it comes to the more wholesome/family oriented channels, atleast from what I've seen over the years.

    • @joehooper89
      @joehooper89 ปีที่แล้ว

      @AcidJurassic I would also like to note that I've only seen 1 video with a lady doing the taste test. It's something that my daughter has pointed out before, that she would like to see how gugas girl family member like the food quite a few times. Heck even my mom has expressed a curiosity about his wife's opinions on his cooking and about what/if she cooks for them normally. His sons have been in a few episodes already and my 5 year old loved that.

    The reason why certain food wasn't seasoned as well as you would expect and why there was no soy sauce was because these menus have been designed to reduce jet lag as much as possible. Dehydration is a big contributor to jet lag, so they try to reduce the amount of sodium as much as possible without ruining the experience - obviously some items like caviar or are unavoidable.
    I've always wondered why they even bother with steaks on airlines though, they're much better off with slow cooked or braised meat. You would at least expect them to pick a cut that would handle being reheated and still hold up - like a rib eye or bone in sirloin.

    Guga, love your videos, but for these travel vlogs, I like it when it's just you in the environment rather than cutting back to your kitchen set talking - it just takes you out of the experience in my opinion. I think you in your natural element in Japan works great.

    While the steak did look quite dry, I also feel like Guga has ruined all other steaks for himself given the quality of steaks he makes.
