This makes so much sense to me. I find it hard to relax when my mind will not turn off the incessant chatter of things I need to do. Can the things wait? Sure, but it’s difficult to turn off the guilt noise in my head.

I think that’s something we all have. We all have to work through it so we can enjoy life some times!

For me, mindfulness specific meditation helps. Not saying it will for everyone but maybe?😊

Nice! Turn everything off and just sit outside. Your mind will untangle all the thoughts that are contributing to the leisure guilt. Too many people need to watch this video!

Honestly, I had mental breakdown due to my anxiety two days ago. I've been procrastinating my work because I felt bored and I speedrunned a game, so I could slow down later in the end with the game. I felt so guilty and anxious because I wasted my time.
I then finished at least one work yesterday, but still did not feel fulfilled and still guilty. Then I realised, I still did my chores and helped my mother, completed and sent short story for competition, still worked out and finished a book. I might play video games most of time during a week, but I still did something productive and took care of myself.
My body went on flee and fight situation just because I felt guilty playing games. It was suck because it prevented me from focus on working or enjoy relaxing. It even affect my physical health 😮‍💨

I'm sorry that you've been experiencing that. That sounds like a difficult thing to go through. I'd recommend talking to a mental health professional if you get the chance. Stay well!

Great show! The advice to relax when I actually have energy is counter-intuitive, but makes a lot of sense. I appreciate you making these research studies so relatable.

I'm worried whenever I relax, that something is going to go wrong.

That's understandable. I recommend contacting a therapist to talk more about that.

I get relaxation guilt at work, 🤢.
I worked my ass off for many years, and finally went over the hump and let's say I am part of the club now. I can finally chill while at work and feel weird not having that stress anymore while getting paid significantly more.
My supervisor reminds me constantly that it is ok to relax, to take my time. It is a work in progress, I am doing much better of not be in pursuit of stress at work, that it can be done in a calm and relaxed way.
