    I purchased the 2022 G70 in Siberian Ice almost two years ago. Fabulous in the twisties but also a great GT car. Loaded it with skis, golf clubs and tennis bags for a trip over the Rockies in April. Only issue is catching myself going too fast when passing. Easy to be doing 160 km/hr and not really notice. You can have your car detained for a week in B.C. for speeds like that. No regrets with this purchase. If I wanted less performance, I would have bought a German car.

  • @clancep

    The horsepower for both shown is 368. On the G70, if you get the Sport Prestige or the trim with the Variable Value Exhaust (VVE), the VVE adds 3 extra horsepower. I’m jealous that in Canada, you guys get the power trunk lid and heated rear seats on the G70. We currently don’t have those available in the states due to “supply issues”. Your review was excellent to watch!

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah ok, thanks for letting me know about the exhaust. Genesis Canada needs to update their website then cause it says 365 hp for both Advanced trim (without VVE) & Sport trip (with VVE).
      Thanks for watching!

    Placebo is the correct term.
    The G70 AWD is rear bias. I think it can sent 80% of the power to the rears. KIA is a bit longer and being a hatch has more usable space.

    Looking to end of year buy a luxury sports sedan. I have been very interested in the G70 3.3tt awd as it has awd, performance upgrade from my 2.0t genesis coupe, and I know the quality from them to expect. The thing I'm wondering is if the stinger may be worth consider. Both are great but hard to choose for sure may need to test drive both and check out both it seems as the Stinger isn't too far luxury wise from genesis but still is kind of more "practical family'" it seems in a few areas.

    • @MGReviewsBlog

    I'd like to get the Stinger, but in reality it's about $15K more - around $65K USD for a GT2 due to BS markups from dealers. Inventory on them is low, so it's hard to haggle. A G70 is around $10K cheaper.

      Haha Thanks!
      Well it depends on what you want more from these. Do you want something that will be a lot of fun to drive and you'll be primarily driving it by yourself? The G70 is the choice. Or do you want something a bit more practical and will have your family/friends come along often? The Stinger is the better one for that.
      That's how I look at these two cars. Personally, I'd take the G70 because it would just be me driving it most of the time with just one passenger and I don't have kids so no need to worry about car seats or a lot of groceries. Hope this helps!

    Nice review! I'd love to get a hold of a G70 to get a good comparison. I still think it's odd that these 2 keep getting compared though. Even though they're the same platform, they're two different segments - compact vs mid-sized. Also interesting that they have different options in the US and Canada. No RWD seems unfortunate.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! At the time that I filmed them, there was no comparable Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, etc that I could get my hands on. Otherwise I probably would have split these two into separate reviews against European or Japanese counterparts. And yea, I guess we still have that stereotype here in Canada that it's always winter 365 days a year and we need AWD all the time (not true). Where I live in Vancouver, we get snow maybe twice a year. Rest of the time it's either sun or rain which RWD cars can easily handle.
      Thanks for watching!

      @@MGReviewsBlog I totally get that. I'm still struggling to get any press cars, so props for that! If you have any tips, I'm all ears! I just see these two cars compared a lot, so people must be looking at the two, but it seems like a weird comparison to me on the surface.
      Ha, yeah I guess that's it with the RWD vs AWD. But also strange that you can't get a 4-cyl Stinger. I guess it's just what sells there. But yeah - RWD, snow tires, careful driving - seems like people would be fine even on the snowy days.

    • @MGReviewsBlog
      @MGReviewsBlog  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started by getting in touch with friends I knew at dealerships, to get my hands on cars. I focused on building up my audience because that's what manufacturers want. A bigger audience. After a couple years, I reached out to Honda and they gave me a 2016 CR-V to review. From then on, I reached out to more and more manufacturers and got to where I am today. Still got ways to go but very grateful where I got. It also depends on what type of press fleets you have in your city (there may not be any) but you can find out the email contact of PR managers or Media Fleet managers by going to each respective manufacturer's media website. Also, get in touch with any other local auto journalists, they can also point you in the right direction to press fleet contacts.

    And no. Sport plus mode is geared more aggressively than the stinger. I find using launch control on the g70 almost makes it slower off the line. Its not like audi launch control. But sport plus mode and then turning the traction control off all the way so that there is no stabilizing features at all is the way to get the quickest acceleration from the prestige G70 3.3T. Most car reviewers and places like road and track or car and driver among many other testers of the g70 arent owners. And as an owner having come from a 11 second tuned to the gills 2018 S5 sportback to this small thing I can say there is a bit of a learning curve to get the most out of it. Also the sport differential on the prestige is a plus. The 2022 g70 was really about making a killer performance sedan with massive luxury appointments and reliability. Which it has. The g70 is actually the best elements of many cars of the era. You can see the influences all around. And the vents on the side are actually functional rather than just some glue on makes it look fast accessory. In reality on a good day with a nice set of tires these will run 12.7 all day long.
