I have a ‘22 G70 3.3t AWD Sport Prestige. Extremely happy with it, especially the exclusivity factor. I get comments on it wherever I go. The BMW obviously has a slightly better powertrain, but I think the looks are ungainly. In person the G70 is a stunner.
@@jessicadoner8407 yes I am aware they use to have a 3.8 and 5.0 options which were naturally aspirated engines. However, the 2022 G80 is currently available with both the 2.5t and 3.5t. The G70's engine options remained unchained with either a 2.0t or 3.3t.
My wife just bought a g70 3.3t AWD Sport Prestige and one thing that was not mentioned is that with the 10 yr/100,000 mile warranty the oil changes, air filter, cabin filter, and windshield wipers are replaced as needed at no cost. The g90 they change the brake pads, no cost to you. Also genesis has a button on the rearview mirror that is your genesis assistant, with that they will make dinner/hotel reservations and get back to you with your confirmation for every event acquired. Hands down the best all around package and performance for the money in my opinion.
Well fuck it if they intend to add the 2023 gv70 interior to the 2024 g70 I’m 100% getting it If the hypothesized 3.5T is also added then it’s going to be 200% certain of getting it If there is no major change again then I’ll be good enough with a 2022 3.3t highest trim This car is giving wet dreams
I bought 2018 BMW 330i x-drive - base model. I felt like the car is so in terms of technology. I replaced in a week with 2020 G70 2.0 AWD - base model (thanks to Carvana), and paid 3K more. OMG! What a big difference! One of the best decisions I've ever made in my life! Some of the amazing additional technologies on g70: -adaptive cruise control - approximity lock - run the with mobile app - android connection
Nobody's going to talk about the 15 thousand dollar difference. The BMW is not 15 grand better than that genesis period. For the money you get much more considering the warranty and dealer service. The genesis is a better car.
I purchased my 2019 Genesis G70 3.3.T in April of 2019. Currently, I have over 80K miles on it and no problems. Yeah, BMW has the prestige and better gas mileage. It also costs 15-20K more. This version of BMW, gets 29 miles per gallon, Genesis gets 26. I don't mind 3 miles less per gallon, when I'm saving 15K in the cost of the car. As far as prestige, I purchased my Genesis G70 for me. I'm not looking around when I'm at a stop sign trying to see if anyone is looking at me. My Genesis G70 is my personal vehicle. It does everything for me 😁😁😁😁
G70 3.3t Launch Edition owner here, (former E90 3-series owner as well) The G70 is about good as every bit of a BMW, minus 2%. So its about 98% feeling of a BMW. Can't put a word on it, but you notice it. Engine, trans, steering and materials. It however makes up for the lack of 2% in its warranty, reliability and running costs, making you forget about the difference. I will never go back to BMW because once Genesis hits the 100% mark.... its bye bye Mr BMW again.
Since 2019 I've owned a 2018 Stinger, a 2021 G70 Sport Prestige and just traded in that 2021 G70 for a 2023 G70 Sport Prestige. Pound for pound the absolute best car in the market for it's class. And it's not even close. The bang for the buck in a maxed out G70 is simply incredible.

@@Kenyon712 people don’t realize that the difference between a bmw and genesis is what you can’t see under the hood aka the chassis engine suspension etc. that being said as an engineer I’ve actually found the g70 and g80 structure and suspension superior to that of the c class and e class respectively by a consider margin. Genesis benchmarks off of bmw a lot considering their head R and D director is Albert Biermman

As someone who drove both for a considerable time (rent, owning), here are my takes for both: 1. Genesis g70 has better handling (RWD is fun). I was suprised by this and will probably get a lot of hate for saying this. 2. BMW is faster 3. Mileage sucks on g70 3.3t. If this is big factor, do not get this car 4. Powertrain BMW is better 5. g70 Rearseats are comfy, but cramped. Only comforable if you are 5'6 or shorter 6. g70 has no wireless Apple/Android 7. BMW trunk size seems bigger from my daily usage 8. Genesis service is so good. (Pickup you car, free oil change, windshield, even changed my tires once) 9. fully optioned G70 is about 25-35k cheaper than the BMW here in Korea (tax) Both cars are fun. They both have their pros and cons
My guess is they'll have wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay next year. My wife's 2022 Tucson has it, so I'm assuming Hyundai should start rolling it out to most of their cars from now on. Hopefully, because I plan on buying a G70 next year and I'm tired of wired AA.
Price per quality and driving dynamics the Genesis is hands down the car to get. The only negative is the slightly outdated dash and fuel economy is not as good as the BMW. The chassis dynamics and steering are better in the G70 in my opinion than the 440i. The BMW is much faster and more fuel efficient. To each their own, but I'd personally skip both and get a Stinger.
yep... was going to get a m440iGC but ended up with a stinger gt indigo! 440i is faster but the stinger feels faster when not going 100% as the powerband sits different to where you use more of it.

Genesis really has good value. I love BMW however I've owned them for many years and they are always a joy to own. I don't own each car for long because I lease my own cars. The car I bought for my wife is our family car/suv so my personal car just gotta be something fast and sporty. I may pick a G70 up when my lease is up this year. However def gonna miss my 4 series.
The models need to be compared with equal cost. This would be a BMW 3 series, Audi A3. We test drove an Audi S3, and underwhelmed. Same with the 3 series. Went with the G70 Awd Sport.
Great review- subscribed. I recently test drove the G70 (and TLX Type S & Lexus IS 350 F Sport). The G70 looks a little smaller in person than pics/videos. The rear seat legroom is not very good and the trunk space is just "ok". Performance and interior quality were great though. The non "M" 440i X Drive Grand Coupe is probably the more realistic competitor to the Genesis and it doesn't compare favorably in most respects. Genesis made a really good one here.
I finally bought M440i Coupe after long considering between the two. I had to spend 20k more for choosing the M440i but I think it worth. I'm so satisfied and proud of owning the M440i. It's a amazing driving machine and a great looking sport sedan.

I'd take the Genesis over the buck toothed M440i but I would take an M340i over the Genesis. I purchased a G70 sport prestige 3.3 AWD in November and replaced it with an M340i this month. The Genesis is pretty awesome but the M340i is just spectacular.
So I buy and go thru cars pretty quick. got rid of the BMW and got an Elantra N and since then got rid of that for a Telsa M3LR. I found the BMW to be much more of a sportscar. Better cornering, accelleration, and overall fun. The Genesis was fantastic and I really enjoyed it but the BMW put more smiles on my face. @@medellon
The only thing stopping me from genesis is the dealer experience. Bmw hands down has the best dealer experience. They always have loaners and they record and take pictures of everything.
The rear end of the G70 reminds me of a 90s Dodge Intrepid or Stratus. As a BMW lover, neither of these are all that attractive to me and would have me leaving my F10.
Give me a G70 Shooting Brake with the rear-wheel steering and 3D dash of the G80, for a price closer to 60k, and now we are talking a more fair comparison with the M440i .. What the G70 lacks at present is a liftback and 3D dash ..
I bought a 2021 G70 2.0T AWD in Canada. I chose it over the 3.3T because of the CAN$10,000 price difference (tax incl.). That's a good chunk of change that can pay for an awful lot of premium gas, especially at today's sky-high gas prices. Or it can pay for 6 years' worth of insurance. This is no chump change. Also, the 2.0T gives me 3 mpg more in fuel economy. Over the life of the car, that's an awful lot of gas money. All of this is to say that the choice between 2.0T and 3.3T should not be made lightly. We're not all made of money, and even you keep pointing out price differences during the review between the G70 and M440i. In a perfect world, money would be no object. Wish I lived in such a world.
Interestingly, the Canadian price difference between the 2022 2.0T and 3.3T is now CAN$6,800 (tax incl.). This changes the equation somewhat. Fuel economy still applies, though.
When you say the styling of the BMW is "bold", i extract "beaver-tooth UGLY". I'm sure it drives great and I was a huge BMW in the past...but it's Genesis for me...all day, every day. Test drove the Genesis GV70 and I'm sold. Hoping to find one used in a year or two but there's just not enough inventory to meet demand..
I now understand why he saved the pricing till the very end of the video. There’s absolutely no reason why there’s two car should be compared. What’s preposterous to me is the genesis is a way better car and way cheaper.. but if he said that at the beginning of the video 90% of the people would turn it off there.
Something worth noting, especially given your suggestion that the G70 might make more power than advertised, is that the b58 in the 440i absolutely makes significantly more power than advertised. You can find countless examples of people taking their brand new, entirely stock m340i to a dyno and it putting down 360 to the wheels. That's something between 420 and 440 at the crank. Both great cars, BMW just has something that the Genesis doesn't.

@dillydilly8365 haha it's a toss up. She does have the ambient lighting which isn't a huge deal for me. The GV70 does have the soft touch semi touch screen for the climate controls. But something about a real rotary dial for the climate doesn't bother me. I love my g70 interior for that reason it has real dials. Not a huge fan of everything having to be touch screen.
If you want a car Likethese I would recommend that you should test drive both cars If money doesn’t matter at all get the BMW or if you’re working for a round vehicle that you’re or if you need a vehicle that you’re working to keep for longer then get the Genesis Plus if you care about maintenance plans in warrantees find Genesis is the right choice If you prefer to buy a car from your van Korea get the BMW specially if you prefer Luis too it’s a great choice
As a 2020 G70 3.3t Prestige owner, go for the BMW, just the dealer experience Alone will be worth it. BMW B58 and ZF8 speed are also much better than the G70. If I could do it again, I’d go BMW

BMW gets way better gas mileage due to the mild hybrid system. BMW without the packages is already better performing than the genesis. Crazy how the grill in the bmw is so much smaller than the two ginormous grills the genesis has.

No way the Genesis is ever going to even halfway compare as far as maintenance goes. We have to remember, the G70 engine without the turbo is a basic Kia Cadenza or old Kia Sorento engine, and those are far from expensive to maintain… not to mention the G70 only recommends premium gas despite getting slightly less gas mileage (not that I personally would ever use regular).
Its very funny to compare a Korean car Hyundai genesis with the luxury big brand name bmw m440i Bmw you should compare it with Mercedes or audi. But Korean car maximum you can compare it with Lexus !! Its same like you comparing a Rolex watch with casio watch. !!!
You obviously know little about cars. The G70 was built by Albert Biermann who was the head of BMW's M division for years. Genesis is easily the equal of Audi and competes well with BMW and Mercedes. Lexus or Acura don't have a car to match Genesis.
Both are probably equal in terms of everything breaking down and costing a newborn to fix. Chrysler mechanics will be more accessible than BMW mechanics but the Chrysler will have more catastrophic failures like with the CPU. BMWs huge flaw are the plastic hoses that break apart and become brittle over a few years.

Genesis isn't designed by bently... It was designed by a GUY that designed bentlys... I used to be a BMW guy as well, but I got sick and tired of the poor reliability issues. BMW looks great and drives great, but it's a pile of dog shit. Same with AUDIs and BENZ as well. I can't say the same for Genesis, since I haven't owned one, but looks promising from the reliablity/safety index. Just wishing the G70 interior looks as good as the exterior does.

The g70 isn’t the soul of Genesis, that’s the G80’s job.
The rear end of the G70 reminds me of a 90s Dodge Intrepid or Stratus. As a BMW lover, neither of these are all that attractive to me and would have me leaving my F10.

What the G70 lacks at present is a liftback and 3D dash ..

I bought a 2021 G70 2.0T AWD in Canada. I chose it over the 3.3T because of the CAN$10,000 price difference (tax incl.). That's a good chunk of change that can pay for an awful lot of premium gas, especially at today's sky-high gas prices. Or it can pay for 6 years' worth of insurance. This is no chump change.
Also, the 2.0T gives me 3 mpg more in fuel economy. Over the life of the car, that's an awful lot of gas money.
All of this is to say that the choice between 2.0T and 3.3T should not be made lightly. We're not all made of money, and even you keep pointing out price differences during the review between the G70 and M440i. In a perfect world, money would be no object. Wish I lived in such a world.
Interestingly, the Canadian price difference between the 2022 2.0T and 3.3T is now CAN$6,800 (tax incl.). This changes the equation somewhat. Fuel economy still applies, though.
When you say the styling of the BMW is "bold", i extract "beaver-tooth UGLY". I'm sure it drives great and I was a huge BMW in the past...but it's Genesis for me...all day, every day. Test drove the Genesis GV70 and I'm sold. Hoping to find one used in a year or two but there's just not enough inventory to meet demand..
I now understand why he saved the pricing till the very end of the video. There’s absolutely no reason why there’s two car should be compared. What’s preposterous to me is the genesis is a way better car and way cheaper.. but if he said that at the beginning of the video 90% of the people would turn it off there.

Something worth noting, especially given your suggestion that the G70 might make more power than advertised, is that the b58 in the 440i absolutely makes significantly more power than advertised. You can find countless examples of people taking their brand new, entirely stock m340i to a dyno and it putting down 360 to the wheels. That's something between 420 and 440 at the crank.
Both great cars, BMW just has something that the Genesis doesn't.

@dillydilly8365 haha it's a toss up. She does have the ambient lighting which isn't a huge deal for me. The GV70 does have the soft touch semi touch screen for the climate controls. But something about a real rotary dial for the climate doesn't bother me. I love my g70 interior for that reason it has real dials. Not a huge fan of everything having to be touch screen.
If you want a car Likethese I would recommend that you should test drive both cars
If money doesn’t matter at all get the BMW or if you’re working for a round vehicle that you’re or if you need a vehicle that you’re working to keep for longer then get the Genesis
Plus if you care about maintenance plans in warrantees find Genesis is the right choice
If you prefer to buy a car from your van Korea get the BMW specially if you prefer Luis too it’s a great choice

As a 2020 G70 3.3t Prestige owner, go for the BMW, just the dealer experience Alone will be worth it. BMW B58 and ZF8 speed are also much better than the G70. If I could do it again, I’d go BMW

BMW gets way better gas mileage due to the mild hybrid system. BMW without the packages is already better performing than the genesis.
Crazy how the grill in the bmw is so much smaller than the two ginormous grills the genesis has.

No way the Genesis is ever going to even halfway compare as far as maintenance goes. We have to remember, the G70 engine without the turbo is a basic Kia Cadenza or old Kia Sorento engine, and those are far from expensive to maintain… not to mention the G70 only recommends premium gas despite getting slightly less gas mileage (not that I personally would ever use regular).
I own a G703.3t and it recommends regular so...

You obviously know little about cars. The G70 was built by Albert Biermann who was the head of BMW's M division for years. Genesis is easily the equal of Audi and competes well with BMW and Mercedes. Lexus or Acura don't have a car to match Genesis.

Both are probably equal in terms of everything breaking down and costing a newborn to fix. Chrysler mechanics will be more accessible than BMW mechanics but the Chrysler will have more catastrophic failures like with the CPU. BMWs huge flaw are the plastic hoses that break apart and become brittle over a few years.

Genesis isn't designed by bently... It was designed by a GUY that designed bentlys... I used to be a BMW guy as well, but I got sick and tired of the poor reliability issues. BMW looks great and drives great, but it's a pile of dog shit. Same with AUDIs and BENZ as well. I can't say the same for Genesis, since I haven't owned one, but looks promising from the reliablity/safety index. Just wishing the G70 interior looks as good as the exterior does.
