“T-Hybrid stands for Turbo Hybrid. Similar to that employed on the 2.0-litre V4 petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain used by the 919 racer, it is capable of harvesting up to 11kW of kinetic electricity.” - Autocar
At 11:00, the rotated tachometer is most definitely retro. From 1965 to 1989, the 911 used a VDO mechanical tachometer that was just held in a hole in the dashboard with a rubber grommet. It was very common for owners to pop it out and rotate it around to put the redline at the top.
we all knew this was going to happen eventually, it looks like they did the best job they could. Can wait to see what a GT3 version of a t-hyprid setup looks like, maybe a baby 919?
When F1 ditch the MGU-H cause they say it's not road relevant and to attract Porche/VW, then Porche decided not to enter F1 then released a road car with an MGU-H. WTF.
The new mild hybrid architecture also allows to take out one turbocharger since the single one remaining is hybrid in a way with an electric motor of its own. A Porsche turbocharger weights around 25 kg from what I found so the total weight of the added weight of the hybrid system must be 75 kg or so (and thus allowing for mutualisation so on balance adds only 50 kg)

This is a trick of how Porsche justifies people about the actual weight gain. The GTS 992.2 comes standard WITHOUT rear seats (-21 pounds). But it's still 110 pounds heavier than the 992.1 GTS that does come with standard rear seats! So the actual weight difference between both models is 131 pounds!!
If you drive the car hard with lots of launches can you effectively drain the battery and loose the added performance. Then you have to wait until it regenerates?
Great! A 50 kg increase isn't that bad. If they've cleverly placed it close to the ground (which they probably have), you won't notice a thing. Plus you can still pick one without the system. Good job Porsche!
How come no-one is mentioning the insane price hike Porsche is trying to push. This nice GTS as a Targa with full options will set you back 250.000 Euros. 250. Let that sink in.
I like how Porsche is using engine design concepts from Formula 1 to improve the efficiency and output of their cars taking it to the next level. Not completely sure if the hybrid motor to eliminate Turbo lag originated with F1, but it seems like they trailblazed the concept. Bravo Porsche for bringing this to the consumer level
This development of increasing engine capacity is very interesting, especially for a German car brand. I hope that other car manufacturers will also follow this trend!
Digital tach, heavier, NO MANUAL OPTION, and odd front and rear. Nope. The GTS suspension already gives up when you push it super hard. I've had many 911's and this is a side grade, not an upgrade.
NA engines less fuel efficient compared to turbocharged or hybrid. I'm relatively certain (but correct me if I'm wrong) there are regulations in place for major manufacturers to force quotas on how many fuel effient cars they have to produce compared to their less efficient (sport) models. Basically they can't afford to produce less efficient cars in high numbers if they don't have a much higher number in efficient car sales. That forces manufacturers to create more fuel efficient designs, convert their lineup and limit their NA sports cars to small volume top of the line production.
@@tngdwn8350 I am not 100% sure of the rules either. But they have the Taycan to offset their ICE models. They make a lot more SUV’s than 911’s. Make them hybrid. My 3.6L 997 gives me amazing economy. It never goes under 30 mpg and I can get 60 mpg on a motorway run. So I am sure that 14 years on they can do even better.
Not terrible. Only thing that looks odd is the front bumper. There’s no paint matched part on the bottom half of the bumper which really makes it stick out and not in a good way
The transmission mounted e-motor is not the scary thing to service/replace. I bet that turbo with integrated motor/generator is £10k at least as spare part.
The vertical slats are horrendous, they ruin the front end and that 3.6L flat six wouldn’t break a sweat producing that power without the eMotor and electric turbo.

it will get one in the carrera eventualy, because it still has the old engine and no electric engine, that needs to be in the gearbox
This is a trick of how Porsche justifies people about the actual weight gain. The GTS 992.2 comes standard WITHOUT rear seats (-21 pounds).
But it's still 110 pounds heavier than the 992.1 GTS that does come with standard rear seats!
So the actual weight difference between both models is 131 pounds!!
i think it's an amazing piece of engineering!
50kg is a disaster...
Plus another 20kg when you add the rear seats back in!
@@Jay-xr3sb Were they measured in before the facelift?
I’ll still take these anytime of the days. Waiting for upcoming Turbo S 🔥
imaging servicing it years later, after warrantee period
Imagine buying a Porsche and not being able to maintain it.
@@kraenk12 plenty:)
This is awesome. Id love this thing. I want an AWD “turbo” model though.
No analog instrumentcluster damn
I think this is pretty amazing. The turbo tech is game changing.
Everybody whines until they get one
Porsche not stopping perfecting a car thats already perfect. Just Porsche things
Need this in Dakar spec!
How come no-one is mentioning the insane price hike Porsche is trying to push. This nice GTS as a Targa with full options will set you back 250.000 Euros. 250. Let that sink in.
I am staring enough on digital devices during the whole day, no analog no buy
You couldn’t afford it anwy
I like how Porsche is using engine design concepts from Formula 1 to improve the efficiency and output of their cars taking it to the next level. Not completely sure if the hybrid motor to eliminate Turbo lag originated with F1, but it seems like they trailblazed the concept. Bravo Porsche for bringing this to the consumer level
MY GTS SPEC'D OUT AT $200,550 USD
That flywheel system in the racecar is absolutely nuts! never knew about that
porsche does it right again
This development of increasing engine capacity is very interesting, especially for a German car brand. I hope that other car manufacturers will also follow this trend!
Coming to occupy a tax break near you.
love the grey colour and in a front 3/4 angle with the headlights, rear haunches and spoiler up it has really classic styling 👌
Do you know which grey that is?
The engineering that Porsche put into their vehicle's is simply outstanding 🎉 Not bad for a Beetle as Jeremy Clarkson would say lol 😅
Digital tach, heavier, NO MANUAL OPTION, and odd front and rear. Nope.
The GTS suspension already gives up when you push it super hard. I've had many 911's and this is a side grade, not an upgrade.
Great video. Straight to the point and entertaining. Unlike the other waffling channels
Why can’t they just make a it with a naturally aspirated engine? No turbos, no hybrid, extra weight, no complications!
GT3 Touring?
@@julesstevenshe means for an entry level price
@@julesstevens limited production run and only their favourite customers were offered them. Unfortunately.
Not terrible. Only thing that looks odd is the front bumper. There’s no paint matched part on the bottom half of the bumper which really makes it stick out and not in a good way
Please remove that boring start button!!
the 918 spyder will always have my heart what a gorgeous car
Looks like every other Porsche out there
Torque fill may be old hat but but Porsche certainly have delivered in the performance department!
RIP 911
The transmission mounted e-motor is not the scary thing to service/replace. I bet that turbo with integrated motor/generator is £10k at least as spare part.
meh...too much crap...6 speed pls.
The vertical slats are horrendous, they ruin the front end and that 3.6L flat six wouldn’t break a sweat producing that power without the eMotor and electric turbo.
130 grand for a 911?! Jeez...
Nah that sounds legit
No turbo lag is a reason enough for me to upgrade from my 2020 c4s.

I'll keep my 2016 3.8 GTS with its analog gauges, thank you very much. 🙂 I like to keep it simple and straight forward.
It's over.
What's over? The Porsche hybrid system is a lot lighter than other manufacturers hybrid powertrains and you can still get a 911 with no hybrid tech. Seems like they did a great job?
its been over, they've been out of ideas for decades
Yup. No manual on a GTS is awful. The GTS was Porsche’s sweet spot.
Tragedy
@@DanielSadjadian Although the technology is quite impressive, it marks the beginning of Porsche electrifying their 911 line up. I don't think anyone wants to drive an EV 911.
*correction F1 doesn’t have a watergate either 3:08 they have the same sort of tech for quite a few years (MGU-H) and they are getting rid of it in 2026
If it makes no difference in terms of sustainability, why go hybrid? Adds weight, goes against all Porsche purists wants and deletes manual option. Porsche is pushing synthetic fuels majorly, why then make this? I do not understand any of it.
It’s way faster
@@kraenk12yes and heavier and less engaging due to no option for manual. Makes no sense to me
Thanks Porsche...you just made my 2022 Porsche Turbo S the last fully IC engine 911 Turbo S. Keeps it's value up. Sad part....I just can't get into hybrids. Oh well.
I think this is a hybrid in name only. Just ticking boxes for the EU regulators.
No manual? Wow. That's 40% of their customers...
None of these changes are good ones.
The 991.1 GTS manual still the pick of the GTS's.
