3 decades of 911 ownership from club racing to concourse so I am a core Porsche demographic of customer. Not interested in a hybrid 911 and it’s obvious it is done per government regulations and NOT making the car more performance enhancing. There will be a nightmare of technical problems if one electric engine has any issues. BMW is seeing this with the electric “helper engine” in the ZF transmission. One problem and the entire vehicle is bricked and needs flatbed to the dealership. Obviously the last great modern 911 in style, build quality and performance is the 991.2. Each generation seems to get watered down by outside influences from Porsche that intrudes on design and even build quality. This new one is a serious compromise in 911 DNA but I understand Porsche has to deal with very intrusive Government overreaching standards in air quality. It’s a shame but it is what it is.
As you mentioned, government regulations will dictate the future. If you want to buy a new car, you won't have a choice. Plus, we are only nine years away from the ICE ban so the next 911 will be full electric, if you have any older 911 as post 2035 the will 3-5x in price

they aren't cameras, they are radar, they need to be exposed and unobstructed. the camera is up in the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror. Guess the nigh vision might be a camera, but again it needs to be unobstructed.
50kg for the hybrid system that delivers much more performance is astonishing. It must have been very hard for them to design, I can see why these cars are so expensive now.
I have to say. This if the first soft top convertible I have ever like the look of with the top up. The smooth roof line is really nice. I may become a convertible lover if I can have one of these cars.
Nice to see a CF roof. It’s a tidy design in general and get they have to onward march with electrification, sadly I’m old fashioned so I’ll stick with my 20 year GT3 until I’m either dead or forced to use it as an ornament in my living room.
Most that track will be LIVID. DE events are 20-30 min sessions. The battery will be fully depleted on the 2nd lap. Porsche is cagey what exactly that means. GT2 RS their halo car also turbocharged will get hybrid technology. So that means a track focused GT2 RS will have less performance on 2nd lap. Makes absolutely no sense.
Impressive that they’ve managed to introduce significant hybridisation with minimal weight penalty, but I kind of wish they’d gone for a more radical approach such as replacing the mechanically linked 4wd system with front electric motors - like in the Lamborghini Revuelto.
Thank you for a detailed preview. I am normally pretty rude about cars this expensive, but in this case I think you actually get value for money even if it is lots of it. Two things which struck me in comparison with other premium cars. The first was just how good a small 10” infotainment screen looks compared with the enormous iPads you get with other brands. The second is how much more is to be done with various forms of hybrid technology as Toyota has long contended. A 0-60 of 3 seconds is about as fast as you could need, and any much quicker is getting academic. I have always thought the 30-70 figure matters much more anyway. A pocket rocket such as a Smart Brabus does 3.7 for the 0-60, so Porsche retains bragging rights. It is just worth pausing to think that you could get approximately 5 Smart Brabus #1s for the same money as the grey GTS previewed here. Five times as good?
Haha imagine, a BMW iX has a CD value of 0.25. But this 911 is looking good and moves into the right direction. Thanks for another great review Thomas and team!
Thanks for the vid. Very optimistic about the GTS’s new tech. Even with this new hybrid tech, Porsche always know what’s needed to make the 911 a great drivers car. Only thing I don’t like on the new GTS is the vertical front slats - the front of the base Carrera looks much better.
I see the third brake light is still in a place where it looks better but fails it's purpose of being more visible to high vehicles driving behind you on the autobahn.
The new Porsche active suspension systems in the new Taycan (and hybrid Panamera) are amazing. As I understand these systems need the high voltage / electrical power to operate. So now that the 911 is going hybrid as well then hopefully this new active suspension system will make its way into the 911 ..... maybe it will be on the 911 Turbo S during this upgrade.

A hybrid 911... that is very exciting.
I hope they can hide the front facing cameras better in future models. That's my biggest gripe with the current design.
they aren't cameras, they are radar, they need to be exposed and unobstructed. the camera is up in the windscreen in front of the rear view mirror. Guess the nigh vision might be a camera, but again it needs to be unobstructed.
50kg for the hybrid system that delivers much more performance is astonishing. It must have been very hard for them to design, I can see why these cars are so expensive now.
Is this the standard fuel tank? How many miles does the 911 GTS travel on full tank of gas for the bigger tank?
Yes Yes Padrísimo Al Stilo de El Extraordinario Porsche TechArt 911 👍👉💯
Is this the quickcharge Varta battery everyone talked about some years ago? 🤔
The 992.1 looks way cleaner and better in general
True, the vile vertical front bumper slats are grotesque
Fantastic presentation
Thomas looking good in grey 👍🏻
cheers m8 !
I have to say. This if the first soft top convertible I have ever like the look of with the top up. The smooth roof line is really nice. I may become a convertible lover if I can have one of these cars.
One of the best engineerd cars ever

Always FIRST! Nice review Thomas 👍🏾❤
Nice to see a CF roof. It’s a tidy design in general and get they have to onward march with electrification, sadly I’m old fashioned so I’ll stick with my 20 year GT3 until I’m either dead or forced to use it as an ornament in my living room.
Does it makes sense to buy the facelift if the next is released in 2 years?? Don’t think so
I've bought a digital instrument cluster for my old VW. While it can display much more information, I do miss the analog dials. It looks much better.
Since the Carrera don't have the GTS' adjustable front flaps, does it have a higher coefficient of drag?
Yes
A hybrid car designed for street use that only provides 7-8 minutes of full power on the track will disappoint weekend track day enthusiasts.
Gorgeous ride
Always well informed and presented, please close the frunk cover by pushing on the Porsche crest.
Wish you could get the black lip painted in body color
I would always want the targa because up or down it is unique and looks more interesting.
I look at my 997-S Chrono ..... and I look at this ... such different worlds.
There’s no manual transmission option now? 😢
Design improvements, especially at the rear. It will be very welcome.
