I love how owning a 911 Turbo is making Marquees understand that tech isn't everything in life not for watches and not for cars at least!
My thoughts are that people will complain about the digitization of the Start Butron and the dashboard but people will complain as they are getting their wallets out to buy it so their complaining is worthless.
And also, that guy (I forgot his name) says at 9:09 "oH c4rs aR3 aB0uT bEinG fAsT" no, my man, Porsches are not about being fast. They are about being dynamic! If it was about being fast people would prefer the much cheaper BMWs or why not just buy Tesla Model 3 and that's it? Cars are about emotion! Also Marquees answers with the Nürburgring lap time, which is also not what cars are about, I know TikTok has corrupted everyone's minds, but cars are exclusively about how they make you feel :)
So, are you having fun in your car? Mission Accomplished then :)
Do you need speed to have fun in it? Get you a fast car :) But Porsches are about being dynamic:)

I see no issues with push to start, it's the exact same thing as the old twist, except you don't have to get your keys out. It's a far more convenient system, why would you be against it? As for the instrument cluster, I wouldn't mind the digital ones if they started throwing in 120hz OLED screens in there without polarizing filters so that I can actually see something while wearing my polarized glasses. Until that changes, I prefer the good ol' analog (btw. even the analog ones have been digital for a long time now, it's just an analog 'display' driven by digital data)...

I actually like push to start button and full digital dash i think it works with the era.
Hybrid system i could probably do without but im not fully against it.
Power wise for any road car anything over 400hp is fine. Id say its more about how to car feels suspension wise steering etc.
Just got a g80 and you loose the steering feel. But you gain all the tech features.
So for me it would be a nice balance if they could create something that feels raw but with an updated tech package
Also 991. Front end looks better
    992. Rear end is better
    992. Interior is better imo 😂

So if you like the haptics of a certain motor start I would recommend a Lamborghini Revuelto. There you have a ridiculous red protection over the starter button (with a hole in it, in case you don't wan't to lift the protection every time) but it will only start the electric motors.
If you decide it is time to start combustion, you have to turn another red button on the steering wheel. I bet the massager in the seat is always on, in oder that you can enjoy the manly vibrations, together with the motor sound from the speakers.

@@tej0127 So, I went into it planning to keep it as my "Forever ICE" car. That being the case, I wanted it to be everything antithetical to electric. I'll have plenty of hyper-fast, instant torque monsters going forward. 15 years from now all models of the 991.1 and 991.2 will seem slow, so speed and tune-ability didn't matter.
What mattered: connected feel, revy engine, amazing sound, manual transmission, light weight, easier to maintain & more reliable, etc. The 991.1 is slower than .2, but it sounds so much better. In 15 years, when both of them seem slow, at least the .1 will still sound amazing! The .1 should be more reliable and easier to work on. It's a tad lighter weight, and the engine needs to be wound out to get the best out of it.
Everything antithetical to electric! I'd have honestly preferred 997.2, for even more analog driving, but I do like the interior upgrades. I need to drive about 4 hrs each way to the really fun roads, so the interior is a worthwhile perk. Plus, the 991.1 steering (the least liked aspect), can be "tuned" to the GT3 mapping, which had fantastic steering.

@@dBsdecibels Thanks for the detailed reply. Seems like you're more interested in the drive experience than visuals which I can totally respect. Can I ask what specific model you have? And if you have plans on modding/tuning it?
I've had my eye on the .2 turbo S but always find myself going back and looking at the .1 turbo S, there's just something about it.

@@tej0127 Just a base C2. Would have welcomed an S, but I had been looking for either (coupe + manual + RWD + service records) for 18 months already. Power has never really been a big draw for me. I enjoy tight turns, so I was fine when a base came along that met my requirements. Anything more ambitious than an S would have been beyond my means.
I will likely tune it. At the very least, I want to do headers and full exhaust. Haven't gotten to it yet though. First upgrades will be to the interfaces: Numeric shifter + cables, Apple CarPlay, that GT3 steering setting (need PIWIS III), etc. Want to do anything I can to get more induction noise too. I know many don't like it, but I think it's one of the best parts of that naturally aspirated engine. Such a different sound!

Why so obsessed with speed and quickness, the 992.1 is plenty fast and quick. Turbo lag is so minimal with latest 911s. Analog tach, twist starter, and turning light are much more important.

The best selling Porsche is the Macan SUV and I can bet most people with that car does not care about being a purist. They just want tech that competes. And at the end of the day Porsche is a business and it’s more streamline when changing small things to do it to all their cars vs having different gauges and screens for a smaller number of vehicles

Exactly, and that's made very clear by their phrasing too - "Porsche customers", not "911 customers"

I’m glad of what Porsche did for the Base and S by adding bigger turbos… opened up a lot more potential!
As for the GTS with hybrid … we never wanted this crap but I get it that Porsche is trying to please the climate scare people 😂

I don’t think so. I would not regret if I bought the car. I just like the “old” interior design more. I think he does too.

Most 911 buyers are just rich people, not necessarily sports car or Porsche enthusiasts. If they really take customer feedback that's where most of it is coming from.. Why would some finance bro care about an analog tachometer?

    bro.........😭😭😭😭
x drop 2 holes in the frikin' display
x drop 2 needles into those holes
x create multiple UI screens (as they already do) with:
y some to accommodate the needles / mimic analog writing for the needles and just leave the needles to their job......or
y make them needles stay in a static position in a way that makes sense (e.g. dividing different UI sections) for the UIs where you don't want analog at all......
im no designer but is it such an engineering endeavor what i've just described? xDDDDD

Dr. Brownlee a Rolex is the dumbest thing ever until you look at it through the lens of gradient descent. Look at Patek Philippe's self-winding link. They've mechanically been doing back prop - the heartbeat of our neural network revolution for ages. Not so much in dw/dj with data but in power generation..... The math behind the "real physical needle" and its weight based on the precious materials used in that needle are all calculated. Its a rabbit hole.... But an amazing one.

The transition to button start is irrelevant. The digital tach is irrelevant. Turbo equipped 911s are irrelevant (with the exception of the GT2 RS Manthey). The only 911s that matter are those based on the GT3 manual. Heel-and-toe forever!

Turbos killed the sound. Last atmos engine in road car was 2014. They however left the nonturbo engine in the GT3’s, which started a rush to buy GT3s.
Why are they not releasing the 2, 2S, 4, 4S? Anybody asked that question? Why a GTS directly? Because the downsized double turbo engines had the sound of a sewing machine, not a 911
